These korean lyrics are actually pretty much poetic so you can't explain it to someone even in Korean. It's pretty deep lyrics written in korean. The "ferocious" is actually "well-sharpen blueish" in korean, which describes it's like a blueish shining sword because it's well sharpened.
I personally really like the translations in the subtitles of the MTV Unplugged performance of this. You lose some of the idioms, such as the "are humans animals of regret", but I think they did a good job of translating the lyrics to flow with the song. I definitely recommend checking them out.
Everyone needs to always read their lyrics, not only because they’re beautiful, helpful and pure poetry, but so you don’t make mistakes like that “journalist” that said this song was something along the lines of being about sexual frustrations while being isolated due to the pandemic. THIS song was specialized by someone who couldn’t be bothered to read translations of lyrics and went on just on “I just wanna be happier” and how the song “feels”. This song! Makes me so mad just thinking about it. So yes, read lyrics!
Reading the translation while the song is playing is the best way to experience BTS' music. IMO, we have to match the music with its lyrics to evoke emotions, instead of plainly reading it. edit: it seems like the lyrics are not entirely correct? 🤔
I agree with you, Jacob, it’s so interesting reading the translations ! The lyrics have many subtilities and the translator (who is very smart !) uses more unusual English words to have the meanings emerge... English is not my usual language, and I feel a deep joy discovering these so complex meanings (my dictionary is getting fully used at least ! 😉) As I have to translate these lyrics for my analysis videos I often use the same green contents to clarify or to highlight the play on words. Thank you for these complete reactions : I love them !
First: the language is korean Second: you should not be looking for rhymes in the translation Third: eastern cultures usually rhyme ideas and not necessarily words
This song is a masterpiece, BTS as a group, and all of the individuals are really growing and maturing as artists - Tae feels things deeply (I think), he is a sensitive soul, and this song is melancholy and haunting I often feel that BTS lyrics translate more like poetry than traditional English lyrics...there are some songwriters who write in English and use the language cleverly (Bob Dylan comes to mind, as does Paul Simon, also, Bowie of course, Robert Smith from The Cure), but it’s not crazy-common in pop music, as you say, especially in the last 20 years or so...Yep, I know that there are some exceptions (John Mayer maybe, and there are others, don’t shoot me please), I am just generalizing 🤷♂️ I’m just saying BTS are possibly not getting the song-writing credibility that they deserve because the are categorized as “KPop”...
Please dig deeper into all there songs. There’s continuity to some of their songs. It gives me a chill to some of there songs , cause one of the reactor explains it. Once they sing that song you already know the story. Thanks, more power to you.
Credits for "Blue&Grey" from the album: Produced by Ji Soo Park, Levi, V, Hiss Noise (Ji Soo Park, Levi, V, Hiss Noise, SUGA, RM, J-Hope, Metaphor) Producers are listed outside the brackets, songwriters/composers - inside. V about this song: "I wrote 'Blue & Grey' when I was at my lowest point, when I was actually asking whether I could keep going with my work or not. Even the fun parts of work became a chore, and my whole life felt aimless. 'Where do I go from here? I can’t even see the end of the tunnel'. Those kinds of thoughts hit me hard. It was when work was a major challenge. When I’m happy, I want to work, and when I’m happy I can put on a smile and see the fans, but there was just so much work to do. I’m an easygoing, you know, laid-back person, but I was stretched too thin and I was starting to sputter. What I mean is, I was having a really tough time, and thinking, 'What’s waiting for me at the end? It’s important to be successful, but I’m also trying to be happy, so how come I’m not happy right now?' That’s when I started to write “Blue & Grey." SUGA about this song: "Originally, my lyrics were so deep. I think it's good that Taehyung (V) filtered it a bit. My lyrics went too deep. 'Everyone seems happy'. The lyrics around that line had a more depressing mood but this sort of balanced that out. When people look at each other, they’re all having hard times and are suffering, but superficially, they all look happy. We all know that not everyone’s happy. So when i was writing the lyrics for Blue&Grey, I’d already written some songs related to that, so i mixed them."
V didn't produce this song by himself. He worked with a good friend of his, NIve, who actually did most of the production side of things and has even released a RUclips video explaining everything he did in the production of the song.
Like @Ashleyder already said, he co-produced and co-wrote with a few people, rap line also wrote their own verses of course. One person that had a big part along with Tae is his friend NIve (Park Jisoo). The nice vocal distortion at the end of the song right before Tae’s ending is actually made from NIve’s voice BTW. Tae did a great job though, and it was nice to see him collab with some friends recently (“Blue and Grey” with NIve, “Sweet Night” - Park Seojoon requested Tae do the OST, and “Snow Flower” with Peak Boy).
Lets not forget to give credit and appreciate those who help him working on this song... he co-produced and co-wrote this song as the other two replied said ... the members also help him with the lyrics ... it is not ok to not give credit for people who also work hard on this
Thank you for reacting to this. BTS are really poetic in their lyrics. And i personally love blue and grey as it was written during V's down moments yet he was able to create a masterpiece. I love all his self wriiten/produced songs. Every single one of them hits you straight to your soul. Please react to V's song scenery or snow flower
Kim Taehyung wrote such an masterpiece... It's not just an lyrics.. It's an emotion of taehyung what he wrote during his hardest time in his depression time.. And it's from his KTH1 upcoming mix tape and there's soo many songs what lyrics having full of taehyung emotions... Taehyung said he wrote songs when he's having such type of emotions.. Without emotions he never wrote any songs... That's why his lyrics being soo much deep and emotional
I'm not sure if it is mistranslated I have seen lot of korean fans say some of the phrases used in this song are very authentic to Korean and is almost impossible to translate to english So the translator tried their best to make it as understandable as possible
@@dreamzbts6585 yesyes...I agree😂 I'm not talking about sentences...just a "biiiit" wrong in the grammar section like me and yourself, cause it makes the structure of the sentence. I might be wrong myself but in 10:10 it's written "please dont leave yourself alone" which I guess it should be " please don't leave me alone"...probably. But I fully agree and appreciate armies translating these lyrics in such detail for us international armies to read💜
@@shiwakim2204 hey! That's a very interesting lyric actually which in my opinion is actually correctly translated! In an interview RM(Namjoon) said it is actually very hard to befriend yourself. Even in their other songs they have spoken about how the standards we set for ourselves are very high. Lot of their songs focus around self acceptance in that sense the lyric you've mentioned makes sense
@@dreamzbts6585 I understand where you are coming from....😂this might turn into a long convo....you might be right. I'm not a native speaker so I dont want to fully assume it's right. But for my case, what I understood is that, it's a song written by Tae during his dark times, so he is mostly referring to himself going through that phase...also in most of the translations, also in MTV unplugged translation which I believe Big hit will look after the translations , it's written " please dont leave me alone" which makes more sense , as again it's a song written by Tae during his slump about him.
@@shiwakim2204 that's an interesting insight! Perhaps Tae is referring to the angel(the first lyric "where's my angel") When I heard this song for the first time I thought it is more like song/note to themselves. Like talking to themselves in 3rd person(they have actually done that a lot in Love Youself series too)

V is indeed a great songwriter... i hope he is now happy in his life
Hell yeah, he is! To top it off Not to mention his deep voice that give me literal chills!
Something I respect about bangtan is they never dumb anything down for us. They write and we learn to fully understand
"I just wanna be happier, would this also be greed" THE BEST ONE😭😭😭

Love hearing your thoughts in all these lyric videos, very fascinating to follow along with how you go though them!
I’m honestly trying to figure out what you meant by ‘interesting’ because you use this word all the time in your reaction. 💜Thank you
when you see “you” in any BTS songs , it's referencing to the ARMYs more often then not
