V originally wrote this song when he wasn’t at his best and was feeling down. This song conveys his emotions during that time. He was saving it for a future mixtape of his but the group talked about and decided to put in in their “BE” album. This album is all about their emotions during the pandemic, so it fits.

Sad that he didn't release the tracks made by him in layover. He makes some of the best songs that tugs you. He got overwhelmed in making musics and decided not to work on them but receive songs and sing them. He should be confident with his work and release it bcs he is tal3nted and do have potential in making songs.
*The first line "where's my angel" is a reference to V's well-known belief that he has an angel watching over him. He often, even just when doing rock paper scissors or something will pause to ask his angel. So when he says Where's my angel it's really the sadness of blue and gray.*

Blue & Grey comforted me the most during the pandemic. I felt so depressed and alone like I lost myself and it was just me in my room for months on end with my own thoughts. It was horrible and I really closed off to all my friends and family, I didn't want to talk to anyone either. When BE dropped and I first read the lyrics to Blue & Grey I cried because it was exactly how I felt. I still listen to this song a lot and I'll have it on repeat on really bad days, it means so much to me. I want Taehyung to know how much he's helped people around the world heal with his honest feelings put into music 💜
This song is so comforting yet the way it is sung makes you feel like you're listening to a person who's very tired, just asking for a little peace in his life. Blue and Grey really traces out the scars on your heart with it's fingers and reads those melancholic melodies that your heart can't say out loud in the darkest times.

v composed this song and it speaks of his despair during the pandemic... it's so beautiful and melancholic. the rapline gave further emphasis on the mental state people are in in times of depression. thus, j-hope's verse, i feel, is underrated in this reviews of the song. the gray rhinoceros is a reference... as suga started talking about his sadness since the beginning and you've caught on his transition to menacing, there comes in j-hope's verse talking about the gray rhino (a book)... that the sadness has gone deeper than even when faced with that "menace," he no longer can react properly and protect himself... to me, it means your instinct to survive is gone... and that's a very dark place for an artist like j-hope who's mainly full of hope. and then we have rm, as you've said, who accepts the sadness. and that may we be together because it's a lot more comforting to not be alone in misery... 🤧

Others have commented that this was originally V's song that he intended to include in his mixtape. I just want to add that many of V's solo songs outside BTS also have this acoustic feel to it, with guitar and strings and piano. Winter Bear, Christmas Tree, Scenery, Sweet Night. All of them beautiful, soothing songs. Snow Flower and 4 O'clock (with RM) are also great songs by V.
This song and the whole album 'BE' helped me a lot in this hard time as ICU nurse in the COVID ward... I can not describe how deep was the emotions of powerless, desperation, helplessness....
I hope, I have the chance to meet BTS in the future and thank them for this healthful album!!!

This song is from their BE album, released November 20, 2020, which was written and produced during the pandemic, about the pandemic. V originally wrote this song to be an English version for his mixtape, but the Group loved it so much that they decided to include it on the album, and then the rap line added their rap verses. Such a beautiful song, it's one of my favorites.
There are a few live performances of this song that are really beautiful. The PTD On Stage Los Angeles performance was really amazing. They played with mirror images of themselves, like looking in the mirror and seeing your feelings reflected back at you. And it was performed with such emotion. They also did an MTV unplugged version that was good as well, I think they chose the set very well (It was livestreamed from South Korea during the pandemic).
I'm going to link you my favorite performance from the PTD concert in Los Angeles on Day 4. That was the day that I attended. They streamed it live. This performance was a masterpiece. The Blue and Grey that transitioned into Black Swan, and OMG it was beautiful, and artistic, and emotional, and perfectly BTS in their element. Please watch it. I don't know if you can do a reaction to it without it getting blocked, but if you do a reaction to it, I would LOVE to see your reaction. Here is the link. Have a look at the Blue and Grey from PTD Seoul. They wore steely blue coats, in my opinion it was more powerful than the black coats. Tae's has feathers around it. Worth looking for.
@@lizsignal1598 I did watch that one, I bought the live stream. I love the one they did in LA because of the mirror effect they had. They were looking in the mirror and it was a sad reflection of themselves. It was haunting.
I love this song. V wrote it. I higly recommend watching it live at thei PTD concerts because that whole segment was simply magical.
The lyrics on this is just so, so real. You can tell that they have all experienced these feelings -- it so full of sincerity rather than a bunch of superficial words on how we should just be happy.
Namjoon writes letters or sort of "diary entries", sometimes... I don't remember exactly what it said, but I'm pretty sure he wrote once or twice about "dust" (on fancafe... Which was like the old Weverse/platform for ARMYs)... I believe he was comparing dust to "how small are people in the landscape of the universe, or how ephemeral are people's lives"...? Something along those lines. Sometimes you see metaphors related to his old ramblings on his songs, months later... Like when he was speaking about the particles of sand in the beach, or the moon and the comfort of the night, etc.
There's also a problem with high concentration of dust in Korea and adjacent areas... (Because of pollution and desert storms...?) I think that may be why he was reflecting about dust related anecdotes... That's just a speculation on my part.

Blue and Grey is the song that helped me during one of the roughest night in my life. It was like a warm hug while I wrestled with the thought if I am actually allowed to feel tired and feel a little selfish in the midst of taking care of a loved one. I cried the while night wuth this song. It's like a friend telling me, my feelings were valid and i am not alone feeling that way.

The first time I heard this song I cried my eyes out. It’s a pandemic song (or was), and the line “I am singing by myself.” Reminded me deeply of all the loneliness everyone was feeling.
TY as always Knox! You approached this very respectfully and had so many wonderful comments on the production and lyrics. To me, this song portrays deep d3pression perfectly, without being OTT or disingenuous. I was in a very dark place when they released BE, and I felt like that album held my hand and stayed by my side as my silent and non-judgmental friend until I could see a light at the end of the tunnel. I am always grateful for their determination in raising awareness for things that matter, like m3ntal h3alth. I don’t think they have ever and will never sacrific3 their values or art for anything 💜

V wrote this song when he was going through a burn out. It is something we feel when overworked, I mean our brain our mind or heart. At that period we don't feel much emotions, just empty blank. I had it too and felt that I should just let go all. We need changes in life/work to get out of this phase. This song is very close to V's heart. He wrote it in English first but was translated to Korean for BE album. YES THERE IS AN ENGLISH ORIGINAL VERSION OF BLUE AND GREY IN V's computer

BTS always write about how they’re feeling or what they’re going through in that particular time of their life. So many great lines but for me, especially the line ‘a grey rhino comes towards me’. It’s like an impending threat but he ‘stands with unfocused eyes and doesn’t feel scared’. Really hit me with how well that describes the struggles of being in an impossibly dark place. The lyrics in this song are some of their best imo. Definitely a beautiful song.

This is by far my favourite song by them. It just expresses how I felt for such a long time and still do.
Also I really think you would like songs like 'Spring Day' or all of their songs in album BE (Life Goes On, Fly to My Room (sung by V, Jimin, J-Hope and Suga), Stay, (sung by RM, Jungkook and Jin)).
To get to know the vocalist better I also have some recommendations.

Jimin- Lie, Serendipity, Filter and Promise (solo work)

This song is definitely a piece of art. We all have been through hard times and know how depression feels like and this song explains those feelings perfectly. Everytime I listen to it I just feel comforted because it's like if someone actually knows how I feel in those moments

It was at the start a solo song that V made but at the end the producers decided to make it a group song and the rappers wrote their own parts.

Besides the real dust, there’s a lot of dust floating between humans now too. Maybe we will just be huge “pile of dust” too.

I'm a bit disappointed that you chose the lyric video instead of the mv which is readily available and comes with English subs. If you had the visuals you would have picked Suga right away and easily identified the hand-offs among the vocalists. The first harmonies were Jin and Jungkook, then Jimin and V. That baritone at the start is V (he wrote this song). The long instrumental interlude is used in the video to zoom on each member. This is their pandemic song, wherein they acknowledge the feelings of depression, frustration and sadness because of how covid stopped everything, feelings represented by several shades of blue and grey.
This is one of those songs I need to listen to calm down, to feel like it's okay feeling down
ARMY did you catch any of the concerts?? Todays was so emotional and I’m not ready for it to be over 😭 They are such incredible performers and their ending ments were so honest and genuine. I’ll have to spend the rest of the day watching bangtan related things, starting with this reaction 😭💜
This is probably one of my favorite BTS songs. I especially love how they've performed it live in their PTD concerts. It's just such a beautiful and melancholy song with one of my favorite lines. "Stop saying it's okay when it's not okay." It's something that I (and I think a lot of other people) have a really hard time remembering sometimes, and this song reminds me that I'm allowed to admit that I'm not always okay.
If you wanted to see a live performance of this (even more emotional) then there is the mtv unplugged one or from their recent LA concerts at sofi (just search on yt) - it adds so much and you might enjoy that personally 💜

Hi, I am back. Good reaction, ty. So excited u heard this one. Love this song by V (and the others). It's Suga rapping not RM! Oh thank god u noticed!!! Sigh. This one is from the last album BE. It's a pandemic album so it was not planned. But it's my fav from them followed by MOTS7. It's not guitar strings. It sounds like a harp but probably a Korean instrument similar to a koto. Great breakdown. The last melody makes me feel like just living in the emotions the song evokes. Yep, this one is a stunner. Pls react to a live performance!
