So if you paid for a dust collection system yourself the material of choice was PVC but if paid by a sponsor you tout Nordfab ducting? Not sure what we're watching here except for a commercial.

I think you answered yourself with your own question. I’d gladly take nordfab for free, but settle for sewer pipe cause I can’t afford it. You’d do the same.

I have been watching your channel for years when you had homemade jigs and tables. You have grown into a full production shop. I have also noticed that you and several other RUclips woodworkers have moved to large shops. No one has a garage shops anymore. That’s great for everyone and I’m looking forward to seeing you make some projects in your new shop.

That's a great system, Jay. As a retired engineer, I love seeing a system that is designed so well for ease of installation and efficiency of use. I'm sure it will serve you well for a long time.

Jay, you have an amazing shop that will be the envy of many!! One thig I noticed is the POW/MIA Sticker. I don't know why you have it but being a Vietnam Vet I can tell you it is appreciated. As of March of 2016 there were still 1, 621 soldiers and airmen still missing and unaccounted for and the issue of accountability is still relevant. So, thank you and continue with the excellent work you do. We all appreciate it.

All the metal tube on the intake side is top shelf and very efficient. But the plastic flex tube going to the filter has to restrict flow. Both sides of the air flow have to match for efficiency. Just something I noticed.

Jay, thanks for all you do posting videos, they are great. The ones you have on dust collection have been especially helpful. I just bought a CV1800, and am trying to decide between PVC and Clamp Style piping. Its quite a price difference, so my question is when you had you Clear Vue with 6" pictures piping, how did it perform compared to your new set up? I now the clamp style is much better for moving, but is the performance that much different? Thank you

Hi Jay, awesome video. I really like the detailed documentary how you explain the setup. You were talking about bolting the frame to the floor but with the plywood walls you could find some square brackets and secure it to the wall if needed. Thanks again.

If needed is the key bit of info there. I'd prefer not as it will transfer vibration and sound to the wall if you do so. Not the end of the world if you do but I'd prefer not for that reason.

Hi Jay nice video. Wondering with your shop up and running if you have measured indoor air quality with a Fluke or something similar. Would love to see numbers with doors open, w/o, with an air scrubber running etc. I too love in MI and want to be able to work safely indoors but am only willing to spend this kind of coin for system that is controlling the fine lung damaging dust. Reading experiences of others sometimes you spend alot and don't get the results

  • @captsinbad7039

Jay Please ground your system . Dust moving through the metal pipes is extremely flammable because of the static electricity it creates and thus can easily cause a dust explosion. Copper wire wrapped around the pipes was a recommendation made by our Town Fire Chief. It's is what he used in his shop also. Dust explosions are almost as bad a gas, nothing to pass of as it can not happen to me. Please be safe.

In your old shop your miter station had the dust collection from below. In the new setup its from above. Have you noticed any pros or cons between the two? I am setting mine up now and from the top would be way easier but if taking it to the bottom would be better performance lol put the effort into making that happen
