Hello Slitthroat ! Nightwish fan here, your musical quest summoned me. Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band! This live recording is from Buenos Aires (2018), together with Floor Jansen [pronounced Yansen], the 3rd and present female singer of the band, and Marco Hietala, bassist and singer. I saw your reaction to Wintersun the other day, and I think that the recommendation for this song was very well suited for you. If you continue to explore, you will notice that their repertoire is very varied in style (from folk-metal and symphonic-metal to thrash) but the professionalism of all the band members is exactly as you described, high level. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [Sami Vanska was the bassist of the band starting with their 2nd studio album, he was with them until 2001. Then Marco Hietala was bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen [he also recorded the bass lines for their 1st studio album]. Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps. I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. You will never know what to expect. They are unbelievable live. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hard core. So be prepared. lol " For an extended set of suggestion (with links), I posted 2 huge comments in the community tab in my main YT channel: www.youtube.com/@gabriel.bardac/community 🤘
Ahhhh Buenos Aires 2018 where Floor breathed new life in to a number of Nightwish classics that pre-date her time with the band and made them her own. 18 months ago at the age of 56 having somehow having not heard of Nightwish or Floor before they became my go to band 🙏😊👍❤️
Wanna hear Floor do some low guttural death metal growls? Do "Yours is an Empty Hope" Live at WEMBLEY!!!!! SICK guitar riff and tone!!! And yes it's HER growling, NOT the bassist who is singing the highs in all of the choruses. Hear Floor turn into a Siren and then into a BEAST to lure the sailors into a metal death!!!! lol
Another poor soul dragged down into the deepest rabbit hole by our Valkyrie Goddess. There's no going back now. Welcome to the wonderful world of Nightwish. Loved the smile throughout..Nice reaction.
Welcome to the world of Nightwish and symphonic metal. They really are a unique band; each song is different and awesome. Floor's beautiful voice reaches your heart in unexpected ways. I hope you continue to explore their music. Hello from the NW Army Portugal.
🤩👍💥💯🎼 Määännnn...Now you stumbled such an awesome ride with this magical band... Cool reaction män and keep on rockin with them! Cheers from Finland. "Weak Fantasy "live at Tampere 2015 next by them(???)🙄
Welcome to the Nightwish army (Dutch division)! Wishing you a great journey down the rabbit hole from Nightwish! When you're ready for it see...yours is an empty hope and the poet and the pendulum (but first read the background information and see the Wembley version).
Awesome reaction! You summed the band up pretty good. A unique sound, extremely talented musicians and of course the goddess of metal herself Floor Jansen ( pronounced Yahnsen). By the sound of your intro music I would guess you like your metal more mainstream. I would recommend “Romanticide” from their legendary Waken concert 2013. I really hope you continue with Nightwish. They will astound you. Greetings from the UK.
A very different one to introduce you to Nightwish, but an awesome song. I hope you do more. Subbed in hopes you do. They don't always have both singing but maybe Romanticide next seeing as you enjoy it. Choose the live from Waken version. 😊
This is one of my favorite songs by Nightwish. One of the best bands I've ever heard.Symphonic metal is an incredible blend of metal and traditional sounds. Along the same vein but a bit harder, listen to Epica. I would start with their song Consign to Oblivion, live in Paris.
As to Marko, many will suggest their cocver of "High Hopes", by Pink Floid. But then there is a song called "Plantet Hell". The official live is with Anette, the second female of the band. She is the least popular, but I like her version of this song most of all. But the song was written for the first of the female singers, Tarja: ruclips.net/video/MckQglkuK_k/видео.html . Marko is very flexible. There are t.g. two different versions of "Islander"- a music video and the live version in Tampere, and, of course "The Poet and the Pendulum".
And then there is cover of the "Phantom of the Opera" - vocal coaches and opera singers love it, especially performance by Marko, because Tarja is good, but Marko is more than that.
Nightwish Army Welsh dragon division checking in. Welcome to the magical world of nightwish best live band on the planet imho. Hope you decide to do more soon, ver y good reaction Thankyou for sharing.
Really enjoyed your reaction, you seemed to get what this band is about right away. Nightwish actually did a cover of Megadeth's Symphony of Destruction, do look it up if you want to hear Marko's take on that song.
Nightwish Army south Brittany France reporting Introducing the Valkyrie the Goddess Floor Jansen sent from Valhalla to collect the souls of fallen warriors.
Welcome to Nightwish and our 6'1 Valkyrie Godess Floor Jansen. I see that Gen Gabriel has visited you. Follow his suggestions on all things Nightwish and you can't go wrong. Nightwish Army North Florida Airborne Div reporting in. Enjoy the rabbit hole.
Hi from the UK 👋 🇬🇧 division of the Nightwish army welcome to your first floorgasam lol 😊 Perhaps you might like to check out floor jansens friends ( Simone simons) band called epica it's another symphonic metal band from Holland 🇳🇱 it's a bit heavier than Nightwish Epica consign to oblivion live at the zenith Paris
Marko can hang with Floor. He is a natural Soprano like Floor. The harmonys are so good that Marko has to add his Viking growls. 6-6 on stage and she has WINGS. She struts, swings, sways, and all with a swagger of confidence. I dream of Floor and Freddie singing "Someone to love" 2 best front men ever, yes I said men because Floor is so fuckn BALLSY as well.
Good reaction, although I think you should always let her finish her vocal note(3:40), a little respect for the metal Goddess wouldn't hurt at all here.
funny you mentioned Megadeth they covered Megadeth's Symphony of destruction but you need to do Ghost Love Score for if nothing but for the Floorgasm at the end as a member of the Nightwish army for almost three years I would do these in order Ghost Love Score to understand how iconic they are and secondly to at least double your subscribers if not more as the army descends on your channel after that you can do Storytime then Ever Dream all 3 from 2013's Wacken open air concert where they played in front of 82,000 fans
Demon Slayer reporting! I fear no man and bow to none, but God and the anointed Valkyrie Goddess. This is just the beginning mate... You have no idea of what's coming... Enjoy the roller-coaster!

If you like Megadeth check out Marco doing a cover of symphony of destruction
Marco Hietela is the bass player.but left the band a few years ago.
No song is the same with Nightwish 😁
I think you may like a little taste of metal. Nightwish style. Romanticide. From the same show.
Good reaction, although I think you should always let her finish her vocal note(3:40), a little respect for the metal Goddess wouldn't hurt at all here.
