Dear 360 guy i am shooting my videos with tripod mostly (so far i had shitty huawei p9 lite thats gonna go pepsi soon),i am not interested in city photography and slow motion 360 views,bike jumping over ramps etc. Was thinking of buying 4k mod insta 360,now i can buy one R or pay little bit extra -like 30$ for RS version. Now i need zoom option (so i can show product details to people) and a good sound quality and decent battery life of at least 1h .Are these droids that i am looking for or should i stick to the smartphone?(my budget is limited to 400$ ,and i didnt found any smartphone in that range -if you know some that can shoot 4k it would help-doesnt have to be brand new model since i only use it for video) I dont have any previous insta 360 mods .im looking for something simple to use,that will shoot footage for youtube videos that i can edit on PC with filmora. Couple questions for you! I have a One R and love it. Can you fit the one rs battery on the one r in the case? I would upgrade batteries for an extra 20%. And you can confirm that the one rs boost mod fits on the one r and works? Is the One R the same size as the One RS? If we buy the new cage will the One R fit in it?
One RS boost mod does fit the One R. It won't work just yet, there is a software update coming soon that will allow them to be used together. All the other things are also interchangeable

I have the 1 inch. Honestly, no need to upgrade in my mind. The sound quality on the Insta360 is very bad. Even with rodes mic and other. I hope the one RS is better. But I think it is only about software upgrade which is required

Not seeing any reason to upgrade, but to be fair, I'd assumed / hoped that would be the case with a modular camera! No need to upgrade the whole system to get different functionality. I filmed when I was viewing properties I want to buy and the mic was darn near useless on the original One R. I am glad this thing is improved and that I hadn't yet bought an extra core for the One R. I will order this now.
I've had the One R since it came out. I was excited for the One RS release but it seems like it's still not really worth it to upgrade. Yes, everything on the One RS is better, but not so much that post processing can't take care of. I guess the only thing that is notable is the photography mode but I don't use my action camera for still photography anyhow and most mid-range phones can take way better still photos.
Clearly there are improvement, but they need to give the option to turn off (or at least turn down) the sharpening. It really takes away from the better image quality.

Disappointed in the microphone demo, that’s the only thing stopping me switching from the GoPro Max. The editing process and effects are so much better in the Insta360 app. But the mics just let it down.

Something I haven't been able to get info on, is can you operate the camera from your phone if you don't have it close to you, ie it's on a drone or cable cam. To me the housing unit is really the only thing Im interested in. Im sure other people will find other upgrades interesting but I got the leica Mod and dont see anything worth the price.
Always your videos are void of hype, to the point and totally honest, 👍 have to admit i have never seen the point of this camera, it does nothing very well, action cameras are so small i would always prefer 2 separate cameras one good quality "proper" action camera and a separte 360 camera. Instead of this fiddly thing that prevents you using the 2 cameras together etc. In fact my friend bought the last version and he hates it says wishes he had bought a "proper" (his words) action camera and a 360 camera separately. Insta must only intend to market this to new users as I cannot believe any old customer would bother to "upgrade" to this.
It looks the same to me, a bit more exposed on the 4k boost, but im the end looks the same. The new core looks promising. If they implement 5.3k at 60fps, for the 1inch, and if they sell the core alone, I would go for it. Otherwise naaaah

GOOD BOY 👏 exhaustive tutorial !! However, I add a DEFECT that I found and I i to check video recordings, the synchronization between action cam and iPhone (latest generation) is out of phase. In other words, the app sometimes delays the shooting and sometimes freezes the recording. It is therefore very difficult 😞 to operate with precision.

So do I. Boost doesn't look like like better quality but more like boost in oversharpening. Look at the grass at 4:23. No detail at all. Microphones are also a disappointment.
As I am mainly using my One R for 360 I will wait this one out to see how the market develops. Currently not able to justify to myself making the upgrade as it is seems to be minor updates.

Was thinking of getting a water proof housing. It would be nice to bring them in a beach trip holiday or island hopping escapade with the one rs

I never got a good video with the 4k mode it’s always muddy and pixels bouncing and grainy no matter what settings I used . Never happy with its video in 4k people say they get bettter quality video in 1080p then what’s the point of having a 4k camera if the 4k is rubbish . would love to hear from you Compared it to my friend DJI action 2 and it’s heaven and earth in 4k quality at 60fps 😔
I'm an insta 360 R user and in my opinion I don't see any big difference in the videos and photos, they recently launched the new 1 inch model but it's not waterproof and very expensive, I'll wait a little and keep my insta 360 r
this camera was my worst investment ever , when I compare the footage of it to the dji action 2 … it’s heaven and earth difference . The insta always annoyed me with noise and color shift and banding . While the dji is print quality . Tried different settings but the picture always come back muddy .
I would not upgrade to the RS until the parts and accessories are readily available at present they are not. Trying to buy a simple RS battery is pain. R batteries will work for the camera but not for the cases. There are several cases but the RS batteries will not fit in the R cases unless you use an R battery.
Meh! That really didn't make much of a difference. Changing the mounting bracket is good but the rest isn't enough to change. A 6k plus 360 mod would of been a bigger wow all by itself. Thanks for the comparisson vid 👍
@@AndraWilliams new core is available stand alone. $30 cheaper than 4K boost so it may be better to just get the 4K edition (esp. if you already have all the other mods). Still debating on whether to upgrade but not too excited yet as was hoping for more.
Just bought couple of weeks ago Insta OneR and mic is a piece of crap on that cam. I still have Garmin Virb360 with 4 mics and mic was such a disappointment with OneR. I have GoPro Session 5 as well and the worst sound (like chinese cheap cams) is Insta. I hope that RS with 3 mics has improved sound quality, or to say complete lack of quality sound on OneR.

They improve the core but not the 360 camera . 6K cinematic mode (why?) , not using 5.3 cinematic mode on Go Pro 10 , all I'm filming is still in 4k ... Upgrading and updating an existing model should be a routine affairs. The fanfare, the embargo, and the announcement countdown are appropriate for a new model or a new concept. Not an upgrade of an existing model and concept. How much longer are you top tier 360 reviewers going to put up with the nonevent circuses like this? They are overhyped marketing department is abusing your collective goodwill. Not to mention ours.
I hate it. I can't get the app downloaded on my phone. They told me to borrow someone else's phone to download the app. This is BS. When you buy a phone it should work right out of the box. You should not NEED to download apps. I now have a $300 paper weight till I get a new phone.
the one major regret I have buying both of these is that the lens glass is shite!!! plain and simple...its an action cam and the lenses break and scratch very easily....major fail. Should be Gorilla glass or similar quality. I have to buy a whole new One R twin just because the 360 chipped on 2nd use...yah I dropped it but I have done that with several real cams and nothing happens...The cases also do not protect the lenses....Its an action camera after all and should be durable.
Lack of 360 upgrade makes RS gimminck obsolete to any 360 shooter who already has R or ONE series camera. And with R and ONE X2 still on the market I don't know how buying RS 360 can be justified when alternatives are so much cheaper. Looks like cash grab to me.
I am UPSET with This sh##t camera (INSTA360 OneR). 3rd time It stopped working. I sent It 2 times to Solectric. It worked 1 hour and then It stopped again!!! I have 2 Gopros and never had any issues. The Camera, again, cannot record or take photos anymore and ti switch It Off I have to hold the Power Button during 20 seconds!!! I am very angry with Insta!!! There is no HARD RESET Button with is crazy for a camera that is 100% dependant on a software. Am I the only one? :( 😌😌

Same questions I had.
4k boost works only with the One RS. All the other lenses and batteries are interchangeable between One R and One RS.

The insta360 One X2 & the insta360 Go2 are still my favorite action cams of choice.

What i find frustrating is we had 8k from Kandao a few years ago now, and ok they had lots of problems, but no one else has touched 8k since.

You can operate the camera with your phone through bluetooth with a range of 10 meters.

Sold my full one r kit, Inc 1 inch mod to buy the X2 and still glad I did. Useless update by insta. Wish they get their app to work on the new S22 line of phones.

It seems in terms of clarity, details, and saturation the 4k Boost lens is much better than th GoPro10 ... The Tower-Video-Comparison blew my mind ...
I never got a good video with the 4k mode it’s always muddy and pixels bouncing and grainy no matter what settings I used .
Never happy with its video in 4k people say they get bettter quality video in 1080p then what’s the point of having a 4k camera if the 4k is rubbish .

I'm an insta 360 R user and in my opinion I don't see any big difference in the videos and photos, they recently launched the new 1 inch model but it's not waterproof and very expensive, I'll wait a little and keep my insta 360 r
this camera was my worst investment ever , when I compare the footage of it to the dji action 2 … it’s heaven and earth difference .
The insta always annoyed me with noise and color shift and banding .
While the dji is print quality .
Tried different settings but the picture always come back muddy .
Not worth To upgrade

I would not upgrade to the RS until the parts and accessories are readily available at present they are not. Trying to buy a simple RS battery is pain. R batteries will work for the camera but not for the cases. There are several cases but the RS batteries will not fit in the R cases unless you use an R battery.

Meh! That really didn't make much of a difference. Changing the mounting bracket is good but the rest isn't enough to change. A 6k plus 360 mod would of been a bigger wow all by itself. Thanks for the comparisson vid 👍

If the new core is available as a standalone, yes. They do not list a price for just the core unfortunately.
@@AndraWilliams new core is available stand alone. $30 cheaper than 4K boost so it may be better to just get the 4K edition (esp. if you already have all the other mods). Still debating on whether to upgrade but not too excited yet as was hoping for more.
Just bought couple of weeks ago Insta OneR and mic is a piece of crap on that cam. I still have Garmin Virb360 with 4 mics and mic was such a disappointment with OneR. I have GoPro Session 5 as well and the worst sound (like chinese cheap cams) is Insta. I hope that RS with 3 mics has improved sound quality, or to say complete lack of quality sound on OneR.

Thank you for your video . This helped me a lot NOT to buy the new Insta 360 RS. They improve the core but not the 360 camera . 6K cinematic mode (why?) , not using 5.3 cinematic mode on Go Pro 10 , all I'm filming is still in 4k ... I think for now I stick with my old Insta 360 ... Same 360 module and same processing files in the Insta 360 Studio PC . I think for now is just ... Nahhhh....
Upgrading and updating an existing model should be a routine affairs. The fanfare, the embargo, and the announcement countdown are appropriate for a new model or a new concept. Not an upgrade of an existing model and concept. How much longer are you top tier 360 reviewers going to put up with the nonevent circuses like this? They are overhyped marketing department is abusing your collective goodwill. Not to mention ours.
I hate it. I can't get the app downloaded on my phone. They told me to borrow someone else's phone to download the app. This is BS. When you buy a phone it should work right out of the box. You should not NEED to download apps. I now have a $300 paper weight till I get a new phone.
the one major regret I have buying both of these is that the lens glass is shite!!! plain and simple...its an action cam and the lenses break and scratch very easily....major fail. Should be Gorilla glass or similar quality. I have to buy a whole new One R twin just because the 360 chipped on 2nd use...yah I dropped it but I have done that with several real cams and nothing happens...The cases also do not protect the lenses....Its an action camera after all and should be durable.
Lack of 360 upgrade makes RS gimminck obsolete to any 360 shooter who already has R or ONE series camera. And with R and ONE X2 still on the market I don't know how buying RS 360 can be justified when alternatives are so much cheaper. Looks like cash grab to me.

I am UPSET with This sh##t camera (INSTA360 OneR). 3rd time It stopped working. I sent It 2 times to Solectric. It worked 1 hour and then It stopped again!!! I have 2 Gopros and never had any issues. The Camera, again, cannot record or take photos anymore and ti switch It Off I have to hold the Power Button during 20 seconds!!! I am very angry with Insta!!! There is no HARD RESET Button with is crazy for a camera that is 100% dependant on a software. Am I the only one? :( 😌😌

just downgrade the firmware and after this upgrade it again. The the problems are gone.
@@maxmalstift Thanks ... But I can't downgrade. I formatted the SD via the same Camera. Then I installed the older Firmware in the root of the SD. I then inserted the SD into the camera and turned on the camera. Nothing happens. It doesn't load it. Tried several times. Nothing
