What a songwriter... Thank you Mr. Taylor. A song well written. Covered by others but you show right here how you intended it to be in the 1st place Beautiful
Unbelievably beautiful! One of Chip Taylor's contributions to popular music (Wild Thing was another) that will undoubtedly pass the test of time. And Kendel Carson adds to the emotion of the performance with her splendid vocals.
There is always something special about hearing an artist play their own material, and this was something special. Chip sounds very good and Kendel Carson is certainly a fine singer and musician. I do have to say this though, I have never heard a version of this song that was any better than the Merrilee Rush version.
Best pure and sweet. About a couple choosing to remain together throughout life's challenges, hardships, bittersweet days, length of years . . . free from regret. ❤
I really love the Merilee Rush and the Turnabouts and the Juice Newton versions, but Chip really brings out the emotion and feelings of ambivalent love! Hard to really say one is "better than the other"....but I do have a preference.....(but i'm not telling! na na nu na na)! Peace Love and Happiness.....for great music comes from the HEART and not the Head!
Wow. I'm glad I fought my way through yt comments and informations to finally get to this "version" (really, the other ones should be called "version", this should be called "the original") of the song. Just let me throw a great part of what I am and what I have at this great artist and his band. Of course, Juice Newton's cover is nice enough to have made me interested enough to hunt for the original, but now that I've heard this, the comparison is like a muffin compared to a steak :)
Streunekater >Just let me throw a great part of what I am and what I have at this great artist and his band. you have a way with words, friend don't forget this guy wrote "wild thing" too
Thanks :) And I'm not a native English speaker. Wild Thing: Yes, I know. It's crazy. This guy added some unforgettable pearls to the treasury of music.
Chip is a brilliant musician - he's done a fab cover of Neil Young's 'Words', and Neil's songs are not the easiest to cover! Many thanks for sharing this.
Ok I can die happy now! I thought the dude who acoustically did SLAYERS " Raining Blood " with John Denvers " Country Roads " was pure greatness but this is its competition.
God bless all of You and your families Too!
John Platania on guitar, used to play with Don McLean & Van Morrison....Chip wrote this....Normally does it with Carrie & Carrie's aunt was a Tejano/Tex-Mex music pioneer. I'll look up Kendel as she does great on this.
It's a great song - I loved Chip's version with Carrie Rodriguez but this new vocalist is not too great as far as singing harmonies goes - her voice definitely belongs in "out of tune" category - it works when she sings solo but sounds pretty horrible behind Chip.
What a songwriter...
Thank you Mr. Taylor.
A song well written. Covered by others but you show right here how you intended it to be in the 1st place
Beautiful
The Voight family is one talented structure of value❤😊
THIS is my favorite version!

Wow...how have I missed this incredible voice all this time !!!!
I'm sure he's written many songs, but this is a true 'Masterpiece'.
Sooo pretty. Thanks Chip! A true classic.
Shaggy
@@mikemyers1611 ...Chip Taylor wrote this, covered by almost everybody, starting with Evie Sands in 1967.
It's terrific to see the writer of this classic song singing it. Many thanks.
For me, Merrilee Rush is UNbeatable ~ the song was made for her !
No where near Juice Newton, they are good, not great.
Evie Sands.

Best version, ever.
Best pure and sweet. About a couple choosing to remain together throughout life's challenges, hardships, bittersweet days, length of years . . . free from regret. ❤
thanks for posting this fine songwriter

What do you mean by "ambivalent love" and how does it relate to the song?
(This is NOT an ironic question.)
such a great song, always from the first moment I heard it
Great and WONDERFUL !!! Thanks Chip !!!

Juice Newton's rendition is my favorite, but this is equally awesome! Great job Chip!

From a mad keen 73yo Aussie fan.
VERY touching. Well done! !!! Regards.
sublime... grand.. superbes voix
What a great song, and I love hearing it as he intended....my favorite version will always be PP Arnold, but this is truly beautiful.
Beautiful and calming ♫
One of the sexiest songs ever. Love this song the way Chip sings it.
sexy? the song is a sad reflection on a life of one-night stands, especially when you were hoping at least one of them would grow into something more
Beautiful.

He wrote it !!!!
Chip Tayler wrote the song. He holds the candle, the song was written for.
Ok I can die happy now! I thought the dude who acoustically did SLAYERS " Raining Blood " with John Denvers " Country Roads " was pure greatness but this is its competition.
Interpretation appreciated... natural like real life... ❤️

What a beautiful rendition!! Does anybody know who the young lady is??? 🤔 She sings&plays beautiful music 🌹 🦋 ❤️ 🌹 🦋 🦋
Kendall Carson
I just found out today Boxing day 2019 that Chip wrote Wild Thing . Now I am going to have to Wikipedia him to see what else he wrote.
I wish you were in Ireland West Cork
this is so different than wild thing. great song
Chip also wrote "Any way That You Want Me"...the best version on You Tube is by the Liverpool Five....it's brilliant.
John Platania on guitar, used to play with Don McLean & Van Morrison....Chip wrote this....Normally does it with Carrie & Carrie's aunt was a Tejano/Tex-Mex music pioneer. I'll look up Kendel as she does great on this.
❤😊
genius!
❤️

Jon Voight's brother...and Angela Jolie's uncle. Wesley Voight, AKA Chip Taylor.
so Voight is the actual family name?
Holy shit, starts good boys
Greetings from THE BRIDE OF JESUS CHRIST 🌟✝️✨
LOVE is a beautiful song

A little trivia for those of you who don't know chip Taylor is John voights brother
Where's Carrie Rodriguez??? I love this song better when she and Chip are singing it together.
This is the only version of this song that I've heard that can hold a candle to Merilee Rush's.
songwriter, songwriter .... Chip Taylor.
Where is Shaggy?
Who's the female singer?
1:25 almost died here
looks very much like Jon Voight's bro. Helluva familial artistic proclivity.
heyjudy1 ..he is Jon Voight's brother
@@lindahuston6526 I just found out he was his brother.
I think that guy is Barry Voights brother
He is Jon Voigt's brother . . .
And Barry's brother, too.
Kendel Carson.
I see this as a guy tune like Michael Nesmith's Different Drum. I think the best lady version of Angel is Evie Sands'.
It´s hard to give a preference to Chip and not to Juice. But the girl accompanying Chip makes the difference.
Poignant . . . . .
CANT FORGET SHAGGY!

woland99 I don't know. I think she's spot on. I must not have a good ear
Another guy tune done by a lady Ol'55--Sarah McLachlan.
Merrillee Rush version is best of all.
Difficult to beat Juice Newtons voice.
Beautiful
