Just run a parking brake bypass, they’re 15 bucks at your local audio shop, easy to wire in, and you don’t have to find your actuall parking brake wire so it saves time. Plus you can access setting and watch movies while driving😃
I agree. I thought I had a faulty head unit because I couldn't access my bluetooth info or the software information for the head unit itself. But why would you need to pull the parking break? Just leave your car in Park to access then disable the system setup when you are in Drive.
If you dont want to buy a bypass or take to an audio shop just tap the blue and yellow into the 4 or 5 pin of your OBD2 port, they both ground i just did that on my cousins truck and it worked

There's one thing Alpine won't tell you but you can install a MicroBypass parking brake override bypass for the Alpine radios so you can get rid of that stupid fail safe feature, sorry Alpine. I rather have to do everything on the radio without anything restricting the functions of the radio.

So… I recently had to call Alpine tech help because I had no sound from speakers (easy fix, I had to reinstall tweeters from spliced wire Jl audio to Kicker oem plug n play). Dude at Alpine was very cool and really educated me on wiring, troubleshooting and got into just how complex and intelligent these head units have become. He then asked if I was having trouble with the settings tab and it sometimes being inaccessible. I told him it was really hit or miss and how the tab turned on about 1/2 the time when needing to use it and it didn’t matter if I had e-brake on or if I engaged the e-brake twice (like shown in this vid). He then proceeds to tell me that the settings tab/e-brake is a known issue with no real solution (mind you, this guy tells me he’s been with Alpine USA since 1998). So what I did was go to my settings and turned off the parking brake tab and set it to “park”. What that does is eliminates the need to use the e-brake and allows the settings tab to turn on when the car is “park”. So basically my settings tab is always on until I put my car in drive or reverse or neutral.
So glad I found this out I was gonna have someone take it apart because I thought the Bluetooth and the rear speakers were just not hooked up correctly but all I had to do was pull the e brake up haha
I have it installed on a trailer, it doesn’t have “Parking Brake”, it is enough to connect the “Parking Brake Cable” to ground to have access to all the icons on the menu? Regards!
So basically have the parking brake wire tapped into a ground connection, but make it a loose or easily removable connection. Power on the vehicle and remove the connection to the ground. Then reconnect it causing the safety feature within the radio to release everything thinking the vehicle is actually fully parked when really it’s just the grounding bypass trick 👌🏼
Alpine designed that feature so you need to be fully stopped with the parking brake on for you to access any features like the blu tooth. You can buy the MicroBypass that eliminates the use of pulling the parking brake and enabling the radios features. Of course your not messing with radio features while your driving because you keep your eyes on the road at all times which is reason why Alpine is doing this thinking about the customers safety. We are all adults, maybe not some but use your common sense of judgment.
what i did is buy a toggle switch for like 15 bucks at a local autozone. Connected the yellow wire to the positive of the toggle switch. i grabbed a 14 gauge wire and hooked it up on the negative side of the toggle switch and then connected that to a ground. i put the toggle switch near the steering wheel so whenever i’m driving i can just turn it on! Hopefully this helped someone !
