They already brought in knuckles before sonic 3 so it’s not like they aren’t against doing things out of order. 3 this is the year of shadow not shadow and metal sonic, so they probably don’t want to take any spotlight off of shadow. 4. Sonic cd is a less known (and worse) sonic game, so they probably wanted to do the most popular games first, and I highly doubt a sonic cd movie would make more money then sonic 2 or 3 so that’s probably why they skipped it.

Don if you want to find out more about shadows backstory there’s a fan project on RUclips called project Shadow. the animation is probably on par with the knuckles show and the people who made got almost everything about shadow sad backstory right, you should 100% check it out sometime.

Shadows backstory is one of the darkest. It’s arguably incredibly dark accounting for the type of game and story Sonic is.
Yeah and there’s so much lore, government conspiracies and dark secrets. I love it
