32:25 - I mean if I were a merchant and I knew you had a magical garden that can grow anything andyou only need to buy 1 plant then you're able to make a seed out of it and plant it forever, I think I would also charge a lifetime of supplies for one sample...
Haha yes, you make a good point! :D On the other hand one could wonder what is so tough about going out into the wilds and grabbing a few seeds yourself... there must be some child in town that does it for a tenner! xD
You definitely want lots of points into trading. +100% selling and -50% buying makes a 4x swing in your trade efficiency. Also you should probably mass fertilize your stuff and bulk-brew those wild growth potions for extra savings.
Absolutely! That is the plan exactly, getting (base-) ingredient independent first, then throw everything into trading to get money and secure a quick progression :)
I'm a little rusty, but yes, I have 100% of the achievement for the game and 117h playtime in it across its different versions. The mechanics themselves come back like cycling after a year off the saddle :D
@@KillrobPlays I may have to play again as well, I played when it came out on steam but I don't seem to remember much. I am currently having a fun time playing "Honey, I joined a cult"
Edit: Correction of information After playing through some more of Suffering I have some good news and... some bad news; which you probably have found out by now. Golden Books are bad, not worth the investment unless you have nothing else to upgrade. Some of those other talents are equally useless, like those ones that reduce ingredients lost from a failed potion. Because of the way Wild Growth and how seeds and replanting ingredients work, of the ingredients you have unlocked in your garden you should have hundreds, so losing a couple means nothing. Those talents that increase growth speed serve zero purpose also because you shouldn't be waiting for them to grow when Wild Growth is an option. The %Chance for seed when harvesting alongside the talent that let's you uproot plants and put them in your inventory is going to snowball your harvesting tremendously. There is a caveat with this unfortunately; plants retain their Fertilized Status in the inventory, meaning you cannot wild growth them again after replanting, meaning this can only be done once per seed, afterwards you have to leave it planted for a day to reset the Fertilized status, so it's not quite the exploit I initially thought, but it's still very strong. Every seed you gain is basically a double harvest as well as a bigger bulk harvest if you're ever short of that ingredient although it will cost you 1 day on whatever plants you place in your inventory as replacement. Pretty much the entire left side of the talent tree needs to be maxed out, but I would recommend getting the Haggling talents, especially the level 5 haggling (just be sure to also get the upgrades for it so that it's a bit more reasonable, the haggling slow down is unnecessary but the other two are) Overall with these strategies, Suffering is not actually that bad, on day 30 I am at the stage where I can buy anything from the merchants and I am just waiting for the right merchants to show up so that I can buy their upgrades like a regular playthrough. After witnessing the overpowered nature of the garden even on Classic I don't see much purpose to those ingredient merchants existing outside of some quality of life so that you don't metagame the garden quite as hard.
That is about what I thought too from looking at things, once (base) ingredients are no issue anymore, going full-on trading actually will make you decent money. So that is how I'll play it :) You're right about the growth speed thing... I missed that! Anyway, they are just a few skill points :) I do need the haggling slowdown for the higher haggle difficulties due to how low the framerate is rendering the position arrow, I have difficulties dealing with that choppiness. Thanks for the update and good luck on your run! Cheers
@@KillrobPlays I'm going to claim I was confused because you only pointed out books spawning in after you put skill points in, but given your new information, I'm now going to guess that the base chance of books is an unknown figure not more than 50% and skill points can increase that up to double that figure with maximum skill points.

love coming home from work and watching this series, so relaxing
Be onboard the struggle bus to grandmaster potion crafter xD Cheers!
I've been loving this, never played or seen this game before! I feel like a noob watching a pro
Thanks mate! :) Glad you're watching and maybe you plan on picking up the game yourself?
linear algebra, the game.
@@KillrobPlays I'm going to keep watching so I can come into it like a boss
Haha sounds like a plan! :D
She's charging for her presence and her beauty, as well as the herbs XD
Deservedly so xD maybe the herbs themselves are just 10 bucks after all!

you must have played this game for hours, you have the whole map and book memorized

I think it would be pretty smart to make at least two additional wild growth and fertilize two more of your herbs.
We're going to mass-brew them soon enough :D

Id guess you can fertilize once per day for instant herbs. Might be worth fertilizing the waterbloom too
Absolutely! :) Fertilizing everything everyday will be the play.
Merchant is so expensive that seems like a bug
Haha yes, it does seem that way, but with the trading skill it will be a little more reasonable. :D
have you expirienced strong lagg? i feel like every time i open the recipe book it gets stronger
I have not experienced that issue (yet) myself! We shall see if it gets to that point.
Normal price, 94 gold to buy, 0.3 gold to sell XD
It's perfect, isn't it? That's pawn shop margins right there xD
By my reading of the books chance I'd say that the base chance is a big fat zero.
If you don't have any skill points put into that skill, books still spawn on your alchemy map. That means the baseline stat is not zero :)

Golden books are SO BAD :D
Ohh no... please don't be xD No way to make money then!
