    So good I bought two. One for work one for edc. I accidentally submerged one of mine to 6feet of fast moving river water for over an hour. I was snorkeling thru finding lost items when I was taking off wet suit then I realized I had my microstream in my pocket the entire time . I immediately checked the charging port...dry as the desert . Still works great one year later. Take care dude ..great videos.

    • @patriknydensten1363
      @patriknydensten1363 6 лет назад +13

      @@EarlyMist Robust quality cables can be bought for all cable types. But micro USB has moving parts; the small sharp hooks on the contact. USB-C does not. That makes USB-C a better contact. On top of that USB-C is reversible.
      USB-C supports high power transfer with good cables (something flash light manufacturers should look in to to compete on recharge time).
      All new phones in a year or two will use USB-C. Most high-end already do. This would leave us with two parallell cable systems, one for digital devices, one for flash lights.

      No . Micro USB is better. More people have them. So when you need a charge. It's easier . Why are you wanting it type c... because you are mad no one else has one right. This phone I am on takes type c ..it's dumb . No one at work has one. Just me. So I have to carry both in my edc pouch . How about they stick with one ..the original.

      @@mikecarr1484 From a tech point, USB C is leagues above micro B. Usb c can transfer data as well as power/charge devices at the same time. Also it is made with more (9) conductors opposed to 4 allowing for higher bandwidth. USB C is the future of usb and micro b is already being phased out as a legacy connection

    Nice review. I've been EDCing the Microstream USB since june and it's awesome. Great compact size, but you can still get a nice grip. I actually prefer the black low to high version. I don't usually need the 250 lumen option, but when I want it, it's great to have. Love the USB, don't need to go and buy batteries all the time, just recharge it once in a while. It has helped me many times and I use it with joy. The size, the clip, the lumens, the usb rechargeable battery....it's just great for EDC.

      How secure is that head being a push and pull in order to recharge the light? Im kinda skeptical with that push and pull style of the head to expose the charging port. Wish they made it into a screw type. Im worried that head might eventually become loose and slide in and out annoyingly as the light gets old which may cause problems. I love my old microstream and Im looking at this one as an upgrade. Thanks.

I thought about buying the USB version, but since I have found I can get 250 or so lumens from the original with a 10440 in it, and still replace it if needed with any AAA hanging around, I think I already have the best of both worlds.

    I just bought the coyote version and already have the black. It has been said that you can put a 3.7 volt rechargeable Li-ion in the stardard Microstream and have similar performance to the USB version and that one WILL also run on a regular AAA. Might pick up the standard one next.

  • @ShortcutReviews
    @ShortcutReviews 6 лет назад +4

    The older AAAs take a 3.7 volt with no ill effect, increasing brightness quite a bit. Also if you hole punch a thin piece of plastic an put it under the switch it improves the action a lot. Lastly the finish on the light is pretty weak compared to the pelican for example. I love mine and spare batteries at ~$6 and worth keeping a couple, as you say the one down side is not being able to throw a 1.5v in

    I own this light and also a couple of the AAA versions. The USB version is great. Just the right size for certain EDC situations. Sits low in the pocket due to the excellent clip design. Easy to use, easy to recharge. I do wish that the AAA unit would have been made in a higher lumen version as even though the sizes of these two Microstreams are almost the same, for some reason, I love that slightly smaller AAA unit. But they are both excellent lights. Thanks for the vid Aaron.

    As added input, I own 4 of these (2blk/2coy). The coyotes have both had battery failures within the first 10 charges. No issue on the black ones which is odd. Cant imagine the electronics would be any different. This could be completely random but I cant imagine those odds. What happened was after a few charges I'd click on and get nothing, after a few clicks it would work so I thought button or circuitry issues. Then it happened again randomly and when i went to charge it the USB wall unit I have which will tell you if the voltage is bad etc. I plugged it in and my USB outlet went red, telling me the battery isnt taking the charge like it should. New batteries on order so we will see. if anyone has any ideas or thoughts if im going down the wrong path let me know. Many thanks

      Todd Ruch Then how do people take their cellphones on the plane? They probably don’t allow loose lithium batteries, not in a case or device, onboard.

    It's canDELah not CANDLEah. I found the previous generation's button resistance to be excessive. If this is the same there are better options.

    When there is no place to charge the USB one, a few extra batteries can save you life. In a situation like that all the lumens in the world would not matter. Just saying, cheers!

    PWM on low is not super desirable. I would rather it just be high-only unless they could give you a real low mode.

    This is a perfect EDC flashlight, I don't need a battery if android cable is already at hand. I mean the Small utility micro usb cable. I'm going to Tent camping next week. Has anyone here knows how to make a diffuser for any flashlights out there? It sounds impossible to do but I would like to know for this flashlight. I don't want to shine my light to other people out there.

    For anyone who can answer...
    If I use Gideon's link to Amazon, the first item that shows up is the flashlight. However, of course, there's items from other manufacturers. I'm going to purchase a couple of these flashlights however I might be interested on other things on the page that Gideon linked. As long as I stay on that linked page, will he get credit for other things that I buy as well?
    I just want to make sure he gets credit.
    Thanks in advance for anyone's help!
    Be safe out there!
