Itaewon (Korean: 이태원, IPA [itʰɛwʌn]) is the area surrounding Itaewon-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, South Korea. It is served by Seoul Subway Line 6 via Itaewon, Noksapyeong and Hanganjin stations. About 22,000 people reside in the district and it is a popular area for residents of Seoul, tourists, expats and U.S. military personnel.[1] It is known as Seoul's International District and is the home of many foreigners in South Korea.

But apreciate that Korea is absolutely clean and people are beautiful..
I first discovered Itaewon in January 2002. Eventually I spent 6 years in Korea. This video made me want to get on a plane straight away and fly there. So many memories. Thank you for this. I miss Korea. I hope I'll be able to go there again one day.

You and I would have been around there at the same time probably. I was a few stops down at Yaksu when I first moved to Korea. My first year or two there I would often go to Itaewon for food. What Itaewon is now, though, is nothing like it used to be. Now it just looks like any other bar neighborhood in Seoul, just with more English on the menus.

For a while I was thinking “wow there are a lot of foreigners here” and then I remembered this is Itaewon 😆

Although I am surprised there are quite a few foreigners there now considering you have to quarantine for 14 days before visiting
I was station in Seoul in 1983-1984, boy, ITAEWON has changed a lot since I was there. Looks better that what I remember. . .
Nostalgic! I miss Itaewon! I used to live in Itaewon-dong from 2004 to 2007. The nightlife there is on another life. I miss you, Itaewon, and I hope to see you next year! Sarang Heyo!

조금만 더 가시면 ‘박 새로이’가 많이 다니던 녹사평역 ‘그 다리’를 볼 수 있겠구나 생각 했는데 그 순간 다시 돌아 오시니 잠시 아쉬웠어요 ㅎ

I was in the Army stationed in Korea in the early 2000s. Itaewon was really a place where all the soldiers could go drink, chase girls, and be a nuisance at times for the locals. Yongsang garrison was right there next to Itaewon, so it made sense. I went to Itaewon a few times, but it was never really my thing.
Fast forward to 2016 (I was out of the Army for several years by then), and I was just shocked at how much Itaewon had changed. It has largely cast off its image as a GI hangout and is a very modernized and international place now. I think the business of the local joes are appreciated; but I don't think Itaewon needs them as much anymore. Glad to see Itaewon changed so much for the better.
i was one of those GI's hanging out in the clubs there in 1973-4. nothing left of that era in itaewon.
@@jameslstephens36301 Wow, that must have been something to have been in Korea in those days. Lots of bars back then? I assume it was in some ways even livelier then it is now.

Gets me miss the old days in Korea when I was young. Remember prices are incredibly high compared to other areas near seoul still a good place to hang around. Im currently living in Japan and its culture is quite close to the one in Korea. Yet, I love Korean culture more.
Great video man, I like how you didn’t edit the dark alleyways between the major hang out areas. People who have never been need to know if you leave major tourist centers you could get yourself in trouble if by yourself and not a big guy. I’ve been there in the summer and winter went for work ( never again in winter). The flight from LA is a nice sleeper though.
