Drove one of these for Auspost, and I was very impressed with it. When I saw your original video it sold me on buying one, I now have the same setup right down to the tyres, as I enjoy windsurfing and surf skiing and visiting remote places. What a great van I have now yeeeew!!

Never really trusted the reviews, so good to hear positive comments from an owner. Was hesitant at first but now easing out of our 2016 model into 2021. Looking forward to it now. Good on you for that and enjoy cruising around the countryside in yours. Great life.

@@nickbedford yeah the clearance is not great on the new Hiace. There is a 4WD conversion available but it’s 45k 😬. Apparently it’s amazing but the price is not. Delicas are awesome I also wish we could buy 4WD vans!

@@Happyexplorers_au those tyres have been amazing, I’ve done 40,000km on them can highly recommend. I think I’ve got another 10 to 20,000km left. The OEM tyres lasted 26,000km. The video was filmed on the Old Glen Innes Road. One of the best roads I’ve been down in Australia.
Actually I was wrong, I checked again and the speed is actually bang on now. The speedo was about 3-5% faster with the OEMS and now with these tyres it's actually accurate ha!

Great vid mate. Love it. Tell me what is the speed and load rating of the tyres you have and are they compatible with the vans requirements. We struggled finding tyres that meet the speed and load rating on our Vw t6 and I would love to get a set of the tyres ones you have to compare but can’t seem to find them in the T speed rating. Any advise would be appreciated cause we are looking at buying a Hiace to compliment our van life adventures Cheers and keep up the good work
Not sure what the speed rating is however the load rating is 115/112s. Have done 50,000km since new and they are going great. Maybe have 20,000 left on them. Highly recommend!

Hey Ann, yeah the original tyres did wear really quickly and I had to change them at 26,000km. The new Falken tyres have a much deeper tread pattern and looks to me that they will last a lot longer than the OEM tyres.

I’ve put 40,000 on them and probably have another 20,000 left. They have performed so well!! Saved me many times in tricky situations. Highly recommend them!!

I haven’t felt like i needed it Jenny for the places I like to go I don’t need it. Many of the dirt roads are hard packed with corrugations so by releasing the Tyre pressure it does me ok.

Cheers mate! That’s a good question I haven’t tried it yet as I’d want to have someone with a 4WD to go with in case I got stuck. I reckon if you lower the Tyre pressure to 20psi you’d probably be surprised where you could go with it.

Hey thanks JB! Mate I’ve done almost 70,000km on them and they have honestly been amazing. No issues with scrubbing or anything else. You do increase the road noise and fuel use a little bit however the amount of times these tyres have saved me has been well worth it. I think I’ll get another 15-20,000km out of them before I have to replace them. That’s pretty impressive!

Hi Paul, loved your review and other vids. I used to sail sailboards in the 80s and 90s and used to sell and use the original bomb proof Ezzy Wave sails. I'm interested in your tyres as I just fitted out a 2020 HiAce my daughter bought 3 months ago. She has moved to Tassie. reckoned going a higher profile tyre to improve ground Clearance. Do they scrub on the inside of mudguards or come too close the front upper control arms? Do they have a tread wear index on the sidewalls?
Hey Greg, sorry for late reply. That's awesome that you used to windsurf and use Ezzy... you must be cool like me! 😛 The tyres were test fitted by Tempe tyres in Sydney and they gave me the all clear. Make sure you get the 225/75/16 size. I think that's as big as you can go. They don't scrub the mudguards and I don't have any info on upper control arms but they haven't caused me any issues. There's no tread wear index on the side walls, just the main tread itself.
@@windsurfer When you're down near Toukley on the Central Coast next try Soldiers Beach for NE wind and leftover Southerly swell or Pelican Beach just south of there. Also Toowoon Bay in big swells so you can get out to the bommies offshore Miss those years of sailing down there with my mates. Now have 2 total knee replacements and live at Lennox head. Don't know how Jason Polokow does it, he's been around a long time, must have bionic knees. Thanks so much for the follow up on the tyres mate. Good luck with your channel.

Yeah I used the OEM rims they are nice and tough. Early on in the video I have the dimensions of the tyres there. There is no scraping on full lock. Highly recommend these tyres they’ve done 40,000km, I think I can get another 20,000 km out of them!

Not sure sorry, they tyre place fitted the 225/75/16 and were happy with that fit.

My understanding is you should not go over 3% increase in tyre diameter for non 4x4 vehicles, how did you get around this?

What do you do for the spare wheel when replacing all of the tyres with all terrain?
I just left it as the OEM Tyre. You can use a smaller diameter tyre to drive to a tyre dealer to get the replacement.

Yeah the tyres have just been put on the standard Hiace rims that came with the van. No scrubbing issues with the tyre size in this video 👍

It would however I’m not doing much off-road just wanted some A/T tyres to help on unsealed roads.

Fit an e-locker and low tyre pressure, 2” lift and you’ll get 85% of places

The tyres were test fitted by Tempe tyres in Sydney and they gave me the all clear. Make sure you get the 225/75/16 size. I think that's as big as you can go. They don't scrub the mudguards and I don't have any info on upper control arms but they haven't caused me any issues. There's no tread wear index on the side walls, just the main tread itself.
@@windsurfer When you're down near Toukley on the Central Coast next try Soldiers Beach for NE wind and leftover Southerly swell or Pelican Beach just south of there. Also Toowoon Bay in big swells so you can get out to the bommies offshore Miss those years of sailing down there with my mates. Now have 2 total knee replacements and live at Lennox head. Hi Paul - Great video! Question did you put the tyres on the standard rim?...If so what are the tyre dimensions exactly?...Was there any scraping on any part of the vehicle, even on full lock?
Yeah I used the OEM rims they are nice and tough. Early on in the video I have the dimensions of the tyres there. There is no scraping on full lock. Highly recommend these tyres they’ve done 40,000km, I think I can get another 20,000 km out of them!
Just need a long range fuel tank to give you more travel distance before needing to refuel.
That would be cool but I didn’t find it a problem for the trips I’m interested in. I can get 600-800km range on the tank.

В Австралии очень красивая природа! Но я знаю что там очень опасно. Змеи,и довитые пауки и крокодилы. У нас в России нет опасных животных. Только тигры стали уже в города заходить. Нападают на домашних собак. И едят их. А убивать тигров нельзя. За это могут посадить в тюрьму. Есть еще дальневосточные леопарды. Но увидеть их в дикой природе практически невозможно. Они очень скрытные.
Я бы больше беспокоился о тигре, чем о кенгуру!! К счастью, у вас есть тигры, они прекрасное животное!
