thanks for the video. the snap function doesn't work for me too :/ also, I have some issues chaining my UC4 via PC4. I have the feeling the setup page works not
Heyo, thanks for the info. Im having a ton of trouble using this with my 404mkii any advice? I ser it up in the editor to the corresponding CC notes and Channels.
lovely! currently researching which midi controller fits my needs best. Your bonus application is fun man! So the LFO basically triggers the different slices from the percussion loop? never tried that but has a lot pof potential
yep! There are some nuances to it that take some getting used to. for example, most waves are bipolar so if the base value is 0, half the LFO will be stuck at 0. So it works better if your default value has some range in both directions.
I'm trying to pass midi clock through the fader fox. can you plug midi clock into the input and pass it though to the output? It dosn't seem to be working for me. Thanks
I haven't experimented with that before actually! I'd probably recommend just trying to use a MIDIhub of some kind instead, just to avoid some of the issues that can arise thru daisy chaining
Ok I need some advice I slave all my Elektrons via my erm multi clock so my Octatracks midi input is used up so I don’t know how to connect the pc4 to control the octatrack im syncing via Ableton with the mulitclocks vst which is a audio signal I’m not sure if I can put the pc4 in between the output from the multi going via the pc4 in and out any advice would be great
thanks for doing this! do you ever use the octatrack or op-1 to send chords over midi to other synths? that is something I’m interested in at the moment :)
Thanks for checking out the video! Lately I've been doing a lot of improvising, so I tend to focus more on the audio/sample sequencing side of the Octatrack. Sometimes I do use a Minitaur as a bassline, and have had some success with generating different basslines using MIDI LFO. I might honestly do a video on that sometime as well, it's one of my favorite discoveries from last year's sets.
the title is missleading: should be: How to control Octatrack with Faderfox. I think not much people are using Octatrack in comparison to ableton. More interesting would be Ableton and Faderfox.
The Faderfox is unique in that it can send and receive via MIDI cables - a rare thing to find when looking for ways to control external MIDI devices. If you are looking for something to control Ableton I'd recommend checking out the APC40, MIDI Fighter Twister, Launchpad, or Push. These are all basically plug-and-play via USB, and are much easier to set up. In any case, my channel is nearly 100% dedicated to the Octatrack, so my videos are all pretty steeped in that world. Apologies if I misled you!
re: snap vs catch mode on the knobs, I haven't had any luck getting that to work either
Looks like this adds a lot of accessibility to the OT. I particularly like the web interface for setup.
Totally, super intuitive and easy to change, without keeping typically janky support software on our computers!
I feel like this really opens up the playability of the octatrack
I love using mine with the Syntakt. Also the physical quality is very good.
Does the snap function works with the syntakt?
@@francescoelipanni I believe it doesn't, but the way I use it with the mod wheel and breath controller that is not an issue.
Thanks for this Kenny. Really useful.
4:20 Jump/Snap settings work for me, but only when I'm not in system mode.
Just what I was looking for, thank you !
Thanks for posting this 🙏🏿
Thanks for the vid!... ya got me thinking about new gear... 8)
Awesome! Love the PC4, thanks for posting
For sure, thanks for the support!
cool vid, you power the faderfox pc4 with a usb charger plug ?

Unfortunately I’ve never had an SP, so I can’t help you there. Could honestly be a cable issue too, sometimes I check those when all else fails!

@@JohnDoe-yr5tg I don’t have much experience using MIDI hubs or multiclocks, sorry!

Thank for the reply :)
hey can this be used in ableton to set each knob on the faderfox to function lets say the cutoff knob in ableton eq and like other automations?
I've personally not used it that way, but I believe it can be hooked up using USB and control whatever you need in Ableton as well!
@@KennyZhao i appreciate it man. I just bought one thanks to ur video
Thanks for the video. Do you know if it's possible to make the knobs bipolar so that the value 0 is when the knob is in an upright position?
Any idea how to setup min/max values per pot?
What was the looped acapella saying "you're so mean"? thx in advance :)
it's a snippet from an unreleased song by my friend Nicole Kiki Jaffe! you can check out her music here - ruclips.net/channel/UCFW47FwdNKvrTKTHu6f1rVA
@@KennyZhao Thank you alot! i will be waiting for it to come out i really like the drive of it :)
@@KennyZhao i am still waiting for this unreleased snippet...it looks like it wont ever be released?where can i get this acapella from
Thanks for making a video, but you skipped over a bunch of vital details right from the start. Any way you could clarify? (Iknow this video is old).
will this control plug ins /vsts , ie waves ? , lookin for a knob control for eq , compressor control etc
Very solid and nice controller but is so expensive... I stay with my UC33.
im basically asking say in a live situation where the faderfox pc4 live setup is only connected to the Octatrack
Yes, that’s correct, I use any old wall charger that takes USB
cool thanks for getting back@@KennyZhao
so it is midi controller where i must mapping all what you need on knob?
Correct! You can find MIDI CC mapping info in the manual, and you can map the controls to Faderfox via a web interface.
