Thanks for sharing, I'm still really impressed that the Octatrack after a decade (with almost zero revisions) is still as popular as it ever was and is even still upgraded by Elektron. I've never seen anyone use it in the way you are which is so cool. Its given me a bunch of ideas of using some xone k2's with it. I had always used scenes as a way to modulate parameters but your method is more precise.
This is super useful, thank you for sharing all your thoughts and tips! I have Octatrack MKII for some time now but always felt like I am limited by the menu diving / limited amount of pots so Faderfox PC12 seems like a fantastic solution and luckily grabbed one and awaiting delivery, also got Perfourmer MKII recently so will be exploring this setup following some of your great tips and advise, thank you for sharing your knowledge with others, keep up the great work!
Typical octatrack moment at 15:35 xD "What was that? I dont know". Thanks for this vid. Thought it is a bit more about how to set up midi cc. But great ideas! Robert Edit: wrote before minute 25. sorry :)
Amazing display of enhancing your live set up. You just took the OT to another level with your controlled cockpit. You’re explanation was precise Thank you. 🙏 I have the Kenton Control Freak, would mapping it be as much fun ???
I have an octatrack too, i love it, and I think it's really interesting to see how other people are using it, cause the possibilities are endless.. Anyway, Great video, great gears, great sounds ! 👍🏼
this is very informative, thank you for sharing. can see how useful the pc12 would be in any octatrack config. would love to see some kind of sheet with each knob config once you land on a permanent setup.
Very cool. Makes me have an interest in the midi fighter or some sort of knob box that can have recall. Maybe fader fox will make something like this one day.
Once you turn a bunch of knobs and aren't sure what you've changed, I think you can just recall the saved settings from the PC12 that will instantly send the saved parameter data back onto the octatrack. Can you really map to the Vermona? I have one and thought it wasn't able to receive CC. I'll have to research that again...
I'm not sure, but I think that in "snap mode" (blue button) the value jump is avoided. On the other hand, pressing the red button while rotating a pot temporarily suppresses sending data. Thx. Cheers
yes that is true. The issue is when you move stuff in the octa, then the PC doesnt know what happened to the value unless you send midi information from octa to pc
Love the PC12 - I am working on a similar setup and also trying to solve the knob jump scenario you mention at 9:30 Did you determine a different solution than just dealing with the unwanted jump? (endless encoders are better for just using ears to season to taste without knob switch glitches)
Doesn't the faderfox have two functions on how the knobs behave? I'm pretty sure I just saw that in Loopop's video. You can program the knobs to only respond when the value catches up with its previous setting. Or am I missing the point?
@@bartondisplay A little time and homework uncovered what you’re describing. Its called “snap” mode rather than the immediate value being sent and altering the setting immediately “jump mode”. Much better in snap mode although you still may experience lag until you find the value. With so many knobs that can be an issue on its own
Nice video ... congratulations.A question ... once the machines are turned off and back on ... are the values left last time found or is the midi reset?
Great video, interesting to see. How did you quickly map each button? Is it as simple as assigning a midi cc value? Wondering how that process works on the faderfox.
Great video! Are you using a midi loop on the faderfox so midi out OT to midi in faderfox then midi out faderfox to midi In OT? Si this setup can also work for Digitakt / digitone
@OoraMusic I was wondering if you could use the octatrack software editor to map midi to other devices, or does the software editor only change midi parameters on the octatrack itself? I have the Allen and Heath Xone 4D ( lots of midi pots and faders ) and was wonder if I could map the octatrack to the midi sections of the 4D mixer? Allen and Heath says it can be mapped to any software, but I dont think directly from a device like you showing in this video. Id love to know if anyone has an idea. Thank you !
What is your OT Auto - control channel (midi ch 9 or 11? because the TR8 is 10 unless you changed), particular asking because i can't make my PC12 make mute/unmute Midi Channels as i do for Audio Tracks.. You obviously got that right.. so what is the midi command you send from the PC12? Apart from the mystery thats the first useful video for the PC12+OT out there so far. well done!
Oh found it! ... not very prominent in the Elektron Manual.. To control Midi Track Mute/Unmute on the OT you send on your chosen Midi Auto Channel (mine is 9) CC#112-119 for Midi Track 1-8. for a Midi AutoChannel 09 in your OT you should have PC as follows.. b09: Std, CC, TOGL, Ch09, [CC#] n112, [values] L001, U000 -> controls OT Midi Track 01 b10: Std, CC, TOGL, Ch09, n113, L001, U000 -> controls OT Midi Track 02 b11: Std, CC, TOGL, Ch09, n114, L001, U000 -> controls OT Midi Track 03 b12: Std, CC, TOGL, Ch09, n115, L001, U000 -> controls OT Midi Track 04 to make it work..
@ roland boutiques, Elektron model samples and cycles, all my effects, monome norns, nord drum 2 ,some lyra, pc12, mod duox, avalon, opz and i can keep goind :D most of my thinbgs are less than 1k actually!
this tutorial is kind of hard to follow. Way to many options for a hands on live set. It would make me nervous having so many options and knobs. Mind dazzling but i get the idea. The octatrack and al it’s options i’m still working on it....👍🏼

This is such a useful video. You’ve given me a tonne of ideas of how to develop my workflow. Thank you!
I'm so glad!
using a uc33 myself. My favorite video on explaining the possibilities of the OT. Great job
Awesome, thank you!

I'm late to the party, but damn did I get some inspiration for my Octatrack from this!!!!!
Cheers :)
Never to late to party!
much appreciated! thinking about getting the Mix 12 from Faderfox for the Octa

the only way is to create a midi loop, otherwise you need just to be careful and reset positions by hand
Doesn't the faderfox have two functions on how the knobs behave? I'm pretty sure I just saw that in Loopop's video. You can program the knobs to only respond when the value catches up with its previous setting. Or am I missing the point?

As I was scrolling through your Instagram page I said to myself, “He should start a RUclips channel.” I feel dumb now.

The knob position can be changed from “jump to or pick up “
yes

no! the keyboard goes into faderfox midi in so it can be send to octatrack

If it has a midi cc map then you can control it with the octa, and that would make it super fun for sure! octa is a beast when you map things out!
FaderFox PC12 is pretty amazing but ndove l'ha trovato negli USA?
Bellissimi video thank you for the content you always publish.
me lo han mandato dall inghilterra actually :)
Great video what are you doing with the cue b on the model 1 ?
@@OoraMusic how do route the effect back into the mixer ?
Nice use of the PC12. What's that mixer above it?
The MODEL ONE
Can u show how it works in action cuz I can’t see any advance in workflow while u explaining

to make it work..
PS: you know you can switch PC12 presets on the fly, so there could be another 76 knobs and on and on.. endless
it would be great if they sold coloured knobs for these controllers, for making the whole process less overwhelming
there are lot of after market knobs and i think they sell white one, it would be a great idea to buy them actually
Is there actually only one device for less than $ 1000 in your studio? 😀
