- M. Shadows, Zacky Vengeance and Synyster Gates from Avenged Sevenfold met up with us at Guitar Center in Orange County, CA to talk about some of their new signature Schecter Guitars and amps and their forthcoming new album.

It's a common expression used in a lot of situations.
I dont like a7x that much but, you gotta admit, Gates has been a pretty inspirational guitarist for the past 10-13 years, people think he plays wannabe metal but thats wrong, he puts his own twists and tweaks when playing and they sound kickass! By his way of playing, you can tell that he has been inspirated by many jazz artists, and he even said so himself! Young people everywhere are inspired to play guitar because of this guy! And i like that he loves jazz alot and not just metal, he may be a metal artist, but this guy, he is a true guitarrist

When you're that good at playing guitar, you don't need to count the frets. These guys know exactly what note their playing without ever thinking about 12th fret, or 20th fret etc.
BlackDogeSam 69 I actually agree with what he said. I believe he meant at the level of skill they are at they have the muscle memory not to think about where the frets are when they're playing.

Syn’s guitar is as badass as his playing style. I love the plain color with pinstripes and his band name on the head of the guitar. So awesome.

People seem to dislike them because they have lots of young fans who don't like other metal bands
They don't evolve heavy metal in any way.. It's just the same old riff's and drum pattern's we've been hearing for ages.. That's why ppl don't like them.. Avenge Sevenfold are generic as fuck.
im sorry but i cant agree with that. The Drums for Avenged (specifically with the days of the rev) are great, look at Bat country's drums and tell me the fills aren't awesome and the guitar riffs and solos are sick, the riffs for things like nightmare are a bit boring which is fair enough but for songs like afterlife and shepherd of fire the riffs are anything but generic. The solo for both those songs are amazing too but not just because syn is shredding but because the solo's work with the rhythm guitar and sound melodic. Everyone has an opinion and may not like avenged, but you can't say that EVERYTHING is generic because thats just not true.
You are so incorrect. Avenged Sevenfold are the only modern metal band that I know of that do a completely different sub-genre of metal for each album. As a result Each album sound so unique.

agreed, the guy is amazing and there's really no one else i can think of that would be able to play Jimmy's songs note for note and still be able create and original album with them with many of the same styles and approaches as Jimmy. i met him once a long time ago and he's incredibly talented and humble and loves all Avenged Sevenfold fans!

+Roman Torchwick The rev was the drummer. He died at age 29. his real name is James Owen Sullivan. His favorite drummer was Mike Portney. He had a side project with synyster gates called Pinkly Smooth. I have Nightmare, City of Evil, and A Little Piece Of Heaven, one song on Nightmare is Buried Alive, One on City of Evil is Bat Country, One on A Little Piece Of Heaven is Afterlife, Rev came up to the band to create the song Almost Easy, which was the rev's idea, He was a wise person, and how I know he was wise is that one time I was watching some A7X interviews and they were at a bar when rev said something like "Every two years a person changes, no matter who you are.", and HE'S RIGHT, he came up with the song Fiction on the Nightmare album, which the song was originally called "Death", AND he was the first person to create A7X with M. Shadows, Synyster Gates, and another people. I know alot about the rev.

I'm a big A7X fan and I've always found it cool that Zacky's signature is based on the Gibson SG, I actually thought that was what he played before I knew it was a Schecter

Honestly I got a used onefor like 500 its good I just had to fix it up look man just play with the brand that works for you ok syns style works for me but only you know what works for you

I always loved the tone of their guitars on the self titled and City of Evil, but not ro much Nightmare. Plus I'm not so sure I like the idea of holding back on harmonies and countermelodies. I love that shit and the grandiosity is one of A7X's most endearing features.
Aww i just checked the date i thought it was to be in like 2009,8,or something but its 13 *sniffles* I miss rev.
He recently developed a custom with a floyd rose on it, it's just he had both guitars in this and it just kept changing between the old and new custom :P
