I know that Tyler Christopher originated the role of Nikolas Cassadine but, Colton made this role his own and I don't think that Tyler ever had the writing or a storyline like this one where we see Nikolas struggling and triumph. Nikolas and Gia manage to laugh and have fun together.I thought that the writing in this storyline was better than anything that Tyler Christopher received when he returned and that Colton was and still is the best Nikolas.

Tyler was good during the first run in the 90's, when the writing was there. However, Tyler never did anything interesting after he returned in 2003. The absence of Laura, along with the ruination and killing of Stefan, had a lot to do with it, IMO. The best Nikolas stories were always him in the midst of his complex family life.

@@nianikgia8432 I thought that when the original actor or actress returns to their original role on a soap opera that normally the powers that be don't waste their time and talent but that's exactly what happened to Tyler despite the fact that Laura is his mother. I also think that Nikolas wanted a child with Gia but, didn't know how to express that and that Nikolas and Gia would and will be good parents. I think that even the new Nikolas on GH now has a more interesting storyline than Tyler did when he returned but the new Nikolas is going to need someone to help him because, he is self-destructing and no one is even trying to help him. If Trina is Curtis's daughter then that could have been easily established years ago without bringing up any mention of Gia and without making Trina and Ava friends when we know that Ava doesn't have any relationships that aren't toxic other than the one with Trina. I think that the fact that Nikolas didn't have Stefan around in 2003 and now in the way he does in this storyline didn't help him and when I watch him with Ava I know that relationship won't last but the question is who will help Nikolas? Laura and Alexis are involved in other storylines and Liz isn't interested in helping him in my opinion because it doesn't benefit or help her. Nikolas and Liz have a toxic relationship and she knows it and generally her romantic partners have a more interesting storyline than she does and that's continuing with Franco. With Jonathan Jackson playing Lucky Spencer she is allowed to help him and has never been written better than when she's with him.

When I did a search for Nikolas and Gia, I wasn't expecting to find their love story reposted here. It was as great as I remember it. This is the perfect example of a young adult storyline where yes, Nikolas and Gia are happy and successful in life and in their careers and they live on their own and deal with finances while falling in love. I think that this is the only Nikolas storyline where someone specifically Gia tells him that his feelings and fears whatever they are matter. They love each other completely and Gia is the love of Nikolas's life not Emily, Liz, Courtney or anyone else because they just accept everything in their relationships with him for what they and they don't challenge him or try to bring out the best in each other. I think that Nikolas is a lost man today and that he never really recovered from Gia not being with him. I think she is in my opinion the only one who could help him now because his feelings were important to her and she encourages him to express his feelings was why I love them and always wanted them to be end game with the family that Nikolas wanted but never had as a child. Gia and Nikolas got more than they ever hoped and dreamed of and were grateful for it and there was no cheating or harm caused to someone else just so they could be together. I figured that if the powers that be can bring back Daytime Emmy winners Jonathan Jackson and Genie Francis that Gia can return too. Thanks for reposting Nikolas and Gia's love story. I really appreciate it. For anyone who doesn't like Nikolas now, I would suggest that they watch this storyline in full as he was not always as aimless as he is now.

OMG....Yes!! All of that. Their relationship was honorable and juicy and had Sparks, to this day.
She got to grow into an independent, accomplished woman and now it's time to go back to Nikolas. They are Soulmates. Nikolas Clearly needs Gia. It's been 17 years of #LostWithoutYou on screen for him. And I think they should raise Spencer and a new baby, together as a family for sure 😊.As their love story proves, their love can be interesting and intriguing without dishonor.

@@nianikgia8432 I think that Nikolas loved Gia more than Emily because Gia would do anything for Nikolas and loved and trusted him completely and she was okay with being Gia Marie Cassadine and would not hide it or downplay it. Gia asks Nicholas about his feelings and how he is coping and Emily doesn't do that and that storyline just became all about her and her family and the idea that Emily is a Cassadine is usually ignored.I just can't see Gia being okay with Spencer being in boarding school all the time after knowing full well that Nikolas had a lonely childhood and no parents. Gia would encourage him to be a more involved, hands on parent. Gia loved Nikolas unconditionally and Nikolas loved Gia unconditionally and she had her own career which she worked hard to have. If Nikolas or Gia wanted or needed something Gia or Nikolas really thought that it was their job to provide as much stability and emotional and financial support as possible and they did that and more. I think that Gia would walk on broken glass to be with Nikolas and vice versa. I don't see that from Emily and she really doesn't ask Nikolas about his fears or his feelings and so there is a lack of emotional support in that relationship which I thought was not a fairytale for Nikolas because what he wants or needs is often ignored and not even discussed. Yes, Nikolas and Gia deserved to be married and endgame with a family that they always wanted.

@@Akintobi I think that Gia and Nikolas were a happy, loving couple who believed in honor and trying to do the right thing. Nikolas and Gia have a chemistry, love and sense of honor that Nikolas and Emily don't have and I think that if a couple is really a power couple or a Super Couple then I would expect them to be able to provide each other emotional support and Emily's storyline became all about her and her family. Nikolas and Gia were that super couple that seemed to believe why be good when we have the capacity to be great together? I have never really thought that Emily loved Nikolas on a deep emotional level that Gia does. I could see Gia being someone who would work and that she would understand the importance of treating her marriage as something that she took just as seriously. I thought that Emily could always easily divorce Nikolas and that it would be sad but that she would just stay in the Quartermaine mansion where the powers that be always wanted her to be anyway. Emily and Nikolas were promoted as the perfect couple but they don't have the spark or chemistry that Nikolas and Gia have. I loved that Nikolas and Gia both were driven and built their own life together.

@@nianikgia8432 I am so glad that you reposted this story because I think that fans should know about Nikolas and Gia too. I thought that this was easily Nikolas's best storyline and Gia is the love of Nikolas's life. Nikolas wasn't as aimless and aloof as he is now and this storyline is important because it proves that.

I think that part of what's missing from storylines involving characters on Soap Operas in their 20's before and since this storyline is that Nikolas and Gia are both smart and driven and want to live on their own and don't expect their families to pay for everything all the time. After rewatching this storyline, I am glad that the powers that be didn't give Nikolas and Emily a child. I think that the powers that be would have ignored the fact that Nikolas is a Cassadine and that was exactly why he felt unwanted by his mother in this storyline. I also think that Nikolas knew that Gia would put him first and fight for him and their relationship and Gia does that and Emily doesn't. I think that on paper Nikolas and Emily look like a great couple but, I think that the powers that be didn't know what to do with them once Emily isn't a damsel in distress and I think that they were put together to try and reunite the four musketeers but, it didn't work well or last long. Gia knew all about Nikolas's dysfunctional family and still wanted to marry him and carry the Cassadine name. In this storyline, we see that Nikolas does have family members who love and care about him. I think that if given the chance that Nikolas and would be great parents and I think that Nikolas and Gia have a beautiful daughter named Trina and that Nikolas got his wish to have a child with Gia, Princess Sparky. I also that Nikolas made Gia feel like a Princess and that someone believed in her and this is part of what's missing with Emily and anyone else. Liz desperately wanted Lucky to be Aiden's father and she got her wish. Even in this storyline we see that Liz and Laura will never put Nikolas first and that's part of why Nikolas loves Gia so much and will do anything for her and I think that is part of why Nikolas treated Gia like a Princess. I think that Nikolas misses Princess Sparky and walks around with a broken heart now that only Gia and Trina can fix.

I think that what we see from Nikolas in this storyline that we don't see before or since is a motivation and incentive to be a better person and that motivation and incentive came from Gia not Emily. I don't think that Emily is particularly motivated to move forward in her life and career because she knows that her family will always help her but that doesn't help Emily grow up. I think that Gia was motivated to do more with her life and career than people expected and that Nikolas was equally motivated to do more with his life and career than people expected. Emily and Nikolas just weren't a couple that have the dynamic or the storyline that actually fits their actual age in fact they are written like teenagers when they are in their 20's and older. The fact that Emily and Nikolas are not motivated is not something good to have in common.

@@Akintobi There's also something else that I noticed with Nikolas and Gia. If either Nikolas or Gia suspect or know for sure that something is wrong that they will both do anything to fix the situation no matter how bad it is. In the scene at the docks where they discuss Chloe's tragic death, Nikolas tells Gia about his fears for her in a very emotional manner and Nikolas is in full panic mode for months and it shows. It's hard not see a big difference in his scenes with Gia and his scenes with Emily, Courtney, Liz and Ava which seem to lack the emotional depth that we see all over this storyline. Gia notices later on that Nikolas wasn't sleeping well and when she gets up and can't find him and she doesn't go to work until she knows that Nikolas is okay.

@@amusicfan25a21 I hope that has been the writers point, and this is just a long setup for him and Gia to reunite.
He has been written as a man who lost the love of his life. Poured everything he had left into a rebound. And has been trying, unsuccessfully, to move on, and find meaning without Gia, but he's just lost without her.

@@Akintobi Gia is the love of Nikolas's life and I think that he gave Gia everything and I think that there wasn't much that he could give emotionally to Emily, Liz, Courtney, Ava or anyone else because, I think that Nikolas walks around with a broken heart because of Gia. Gia is Nikolas's Princess and during a lot of this storyline all Nikolas and Gia have is each other and they connect on a deep, emotional level that Nikolas never allowed himself to do with Emily. I also think that there were definitely ways to establish that Trina is Curtis's daughter without bringing up any mention of Gia. I also think that Nikolas wanted a child with Gia and that Trina saw Nikolas when he first came back to GH. I also noticed that Laura gave Trina a history lesson on the Spencers and Cassadines and I don't think that was for no reason. I also think that because Nikolas has a broken heart that he has been allowed to be aloof and to be self-destructive and there aren't a lot of options as far as who can help Nikolas after his marriage to Ava turns completely toxic. Laura and Alexis have their own storylines and Lulu and Lucky aren't there and Liz doesn't want to help in my opinion because there's nothing in it to benefit her. Gia meant everything to Nikolas. Gia and Nikolas built a life together in a beautiful home that Liz and Lucky and even Laura envied. Florence and Taggert realized that Gia was an adult and that she wanted to be independent from her family. Gia clearly wanted to marry due to love and also would not have a child with just any guy.

@@Akintobi I think that there were definitely ways to establish that Trina is Curtis's daughter years ago without bringing Gia into the discussion but the writers and the powers that be haven't forgotten about Gia given the many mentions in the last year and recently. Trina even reminded me of Gia when she saw that Taggert was alive. Gia was the one who had to help Nikolas pick up the pieces after Stefan faked his death and I think that she will be angry with Taggert for faking his death. Nikolas needs and deserves something positive and constructive to focus on and I felt that that the powers that be haven't allowed him to even try to be a good father to Spencer. I think that Gia is Nikolas's twin flame and soul mate and that Gia is just more precious than gold to Nikolas and that they deserved to have a child and I think that they did and her name is Trina.
