I think that this scene is important because it showed that Helena wanted Nikolas put in a mental institution for no real reason and I think Gia would have loved to helped get Nikolas out of a mental institution. I also think that it's telling that after a year that Nikolas is even more isolated in his marriage to Ava and all of his friends and relatives still keep their distance. Nikolas is never without Ava for five minutes and I think that's part of why their marriage will self-destruct and when does Ava ever really ask Nikolas how he's doing? In my opinion, this storyline wouldn't look so awkward if Ava had mentioned wanting to spend time with Avery before Sonny went missing in action and if Nikolas was forced to deal with his angry son Spencer before Nikolas and Ava had already been married for a year. Sonny and Carly had to deal with an angry Michael and Luke and Laura had to deal with an angry Lucky and those storylines weren't written like afterthoughts like this storyline with Nikolas and Spencer is.
I wanted a follow up with Helena committing Nik to a mental institution with the Nia story. This was one of my favorite scenes of Coltin's. They later incorporated it into the Nik and Emily story, but too little too late, it wasn't as dynamic of a setup as they had here. That should of been the climax to the end game story. I get 9/11 happened, and they couldn't do the biotoxin story, but they still could of gotten mileage with Helena finding out Nik was playing her, and her trying to get control over him. I feel like they haven't done much with Nikolas since Valentin was taken out of his story early last year, which coincidently, coincided with them "killing" Taggert.
@@nianikgia8432 I rewatched Nikolas's storyline over the last year and there wasn't all that much to watch and he has two uncles but, Nikolas rarely interacts with either of them. I wanted to see Helena get played and have Nikolas deal with Helena trying to control him but, that dynamic didn't work with Emily and Nikolas because Emily isn't allowed to much when she's not a damsel in distress.

Gia was a much better foil for Helena than Emily, and it made much more sense as to why Helena would feel threatened by Gia. it was because Gia could see through her and was direct. Emily wasn't a threat, and was easily malleable. It felt a lot more contrived that she wanted to off Emily, honestly. She was easy to manipulate, she was complacent and she came from a rich family, the type of girl Helena could easily to control. There wasn't a real challenge there, and it didn't make sense Helena would feel threaten. I do wonder if GH doesn't care for this actor as Nikolas. Maybe they only have interest in him as Ava's love interest. I don't know. Either way, he has so many connections and they play none of it. Nikolas was a fugitive when he died, and they said that he was the one who poisoned Helena, but we never got a follow up to that. They hinted at it with the portrait story and it going up with flames, but ultimately did nothing with it. We never found out what exactly he was doing with Cassandra either all those years, aside from using her to get to Valentin, I guess. They never really explained it enough IMO.
@@nianikgia8432 I know that Marcus was one of several actors who auditioned for the role of Nikolas in this case but, Nikolas has more connections than most characters on GH but the powers that be don't use them. I think that will change when Nikolas finds out that he has a daughter named Trina with Princess Sparky and that would explain the connection that Nikolas, Trina and Ava have. Being Ava's ever present husband is not going to be enough for Nikolas and that explains part of why Ava is so desperate to give Nikolas a family all of the sudden and why is Trina the only person who is happy that Nikolas and Ava are renewing the wedding vows? Everyone else in Nikolas's life keeps their distance even after they have been married for over a year. I think that Gia really loved helping Nikolas and I love the scene where she tells Nikolas that Helena has met her match. I can't see Emily ever saying that. I don't think it's a coincidence that Trina and Spencer are mad at their fathers for the same reason.
@@nianikgia8432 I think if Nikolas wasn't Laura's only child currently on GH that it would be different but he's her only child currently on GH. I think that at least with this Nikolas recast that there's at least potential Nikolas storylines when Tyler Christopher returned to GH it seemed like the powers that be really did not want him there at all because Nikolas was put in repetitive storylines and more importantly it is reinforced over and over again that Nikolas's feelings aren't important or don't matter and that he was forced to focus so much time and energy on saving someone else that he got completely lost in the process. I think that Gia and Nikolas could easily have the happy family that they both always wanted. I was always amazed that Tyler Christopher stayed on GH for as long as he did when he returned because the powers that be didn't even give him any real potential storylines where he was given more to do other than being a rich, aimless Prince. I don't foresee Tyler Christopher returning to GH but, I do foresee Gia returning to GH and Nikolas needs her and like Laura said Nikolas deserves to be happy and Gia can do that without even trying while Ava is trying too hard.
I remember hearing that after Chloe died at the hands of Stavros Carly was going to be his next target to kill or try to kill. I wonder what would have happened in the original storyline if 9/11 didn’t happen? 🤔
