Yeah. That way I don't need to buy like 2 or 3 of them. The way I have it is I just keep it behind my TV and it's a pain to just keep swapping hdmi cords. If you were going to say just get the pcie capture card, I like just 1 USB cord going to my computer. There would be so much clutter with 4 thick hdmi cables. Heck even 2 cables is bad. Also put a switch on it so you can choose which output you want to capture.
@@ElainesStory I snagged a $20 HDMI splitter off Amazon and how have all my consoles plugged into the HD60S. It’s made life so much nicer, maybe give it a shot!
Elgato needs to make an internal capture card with three HDMI ports. HDMI 1 is for your Camera, HDMI 2 is for your console, and HDMI 3 is pass through for HDMI 2. If the CamLink Pro can have 4 Inputs I don’t know why a 2 Input one pass through card doesn’t exist yet.
AVerMedia (hi I'm their community manager) released that 2 years ago - the Live Gamer DUO. PCIe, 4K60 HDR passthrough w/ 1080p60 HDR capture on input/output 1 for console, then 1080p60 capture for a camera on the 2nd input
@@AndyCormierYT Oh I'm well aware, but I prefer Elgato personally. Had some weird technical hiccups with AverMedia stuff in all the times I've tried them (sorry). When I said "doesn't exist yet" I meant in terms of Elgato's product line up.
I got the Aver Media one that does this but I got no space left in the PC as the radiator covers the last PCIE slot lol. Would love a USB one that does this though
The 4K60S+ is capable of capturing and encoding footage at 4K 60fps while plugged in via USB 3.0, which makes me confused about why they haven't made anything like what you suggested yet. Clearly the bandwidth of the USB 3.0 protocol isn't the limiting factor.
I wouldn't be opposed to seeing Elgato and Avermedia start dabbling into versions of their capture cards that double as HDMI matrices or switchers. They would admittedly be a niche product but they've never been afraid to make niche ones (like the Avermedia duo). For people with multiple systems, being able to switch between active inputs would be a boon (and in Elgato's case, stream deck control!) as it stands, my PS4 and my Switch both go out to a HDMI Switcher, which then goes out to a HDMI splitter (because both were cheaper than a single matrix and the switcher supports auto-switching based on input) which THEN goes out to my big TV for workouts or 'not at my desk' gaming AND to the 4K60Pro which then has a passthrough to my main monitor at my desk. Imagine having one device that could handle *all* of that for me.
Been following this channel for four years. Incredible how much you’ve grown and how much everything has changed. Thanks for being my go to RUclips channel 🍻
Integration of capture devices directly into monitors (HDMI/ display port in -- USB out) would be great as we'd not have to worry about passthrough specs.
would never buy this. paying the extra £150 at least for a monitor which will be obselete in a few years and the whole thing will need replacing, or just buy a monitor and a capture card and be able to upgrade them each separately as you need to. Its a no brainer tbh
You know what would be dope? A capture card that replaces my stream PC. Like think an "Nvidia Shield" type device with all its power that is just designed to capture your games, with an inbuilt OBS operating system and just pumps everything to your desired streaming platform. Having that second rig used to be such a flex but now it so cumbersome having two PC's and one only being used part of the time. That's a whole bunch of silicon that could be going to people that are waiting to build a gaming PC with all the shortages.
Happy to see VRR passthrough finally but I feel like the next generation consoles have been out long enough now that we should have seen at least a PCiE HDMI 2.1 capable capture card on the market capable of at least passing through 4k120 and VRR. I can understand not having an external unit like the HD 60 X. A mid to high end PC with 8 to 12 cores and/or a decent GPU can handle higher bit rates and FPS. I'd also love to see Twitch and/or RUclips get off the dated H.264 standard and move to AVI. They've talked about it since late 2018. That would give creators the option to stream higher resolution and FPS content at higher bit rates. The parts and pieces are there, just looking for the software support to combine it all.
AV1 is used internally in RUclips and Twitch. It is not common to see because we still don't have hardware encoding for AV1, and software encoding is quite hard on CPU. Intel ARC GPUs are the first ones coming with AV1 hardware encoder, and we will probably see it on AMD and Nvidia on the next gen.
@@mechanicallydev4536 @StopperJJ not only that but decoding AV1 content requires a codec update that not everyone has. phones that aren't running android 10 and some browsers will not be able to decode AV1 streams. I'm not sure about RUclips but twitch doesn't even have the infrastructure to transcode streams all in H.264. there is no way twitch can switch to AV1 and have it transcode for all streamers. its possible that if they add AV1 to twitch they only allow it for Partner streams who they can guarantee transcoding to but itd still require a massive infrastructure change. The parts and the pieces aren't there
There are really two main categories for capture cards used by streamers. First is console streamers and the second is camera capture. There is a third, but not as prevalent anymore because two PC streaming isn't required anymore, so most PC gamers can game and stream on the same computer while the elite gamers still do for performance reasons. If the Xbox or PlayStation came with a built in USB-C video out, so you could plug directly into your computer and capture the output, then I suspect that the capture card market would overnight loose a major market share. For me I would like to see Microsoft and Sony make a "streamer" version of their consoles with built in outputs, so you can capture in real-time directly from the console to your PC at native framerates and resolutions. You could also take this the other way if the consoles had tighter integration with streaming software allowing you to stream from the console with all the benefits of a PC. This is all for the ability to lower the entry point for streaming and making it more accessible, so people gravitate to one console or the other based on features they can get.
What I want from Capture Cards, is to be able to record and stream more things, like games off of phones and tablets (since Epocam isn't on Android) PC free recording like the Live gamer portable series (I know Elgato has the One capture card that does this, but I want it to be more affordable, 400 is Steep) The ability to either use SD cards OR Portable Hard drive to send recorded footage to. I mostly want the PC free feature, since not everyone has a computer readily available and may need to travel light to certain places. OOH Bonus one. Maybe a way for this PC free recording capture card to connect to the Wave Mic, as all previous PC free capture cards use the 3.5 3/4 pole jack, Why not upgrade that jack to a USB 3.0 Type C, and for Elgato specifically, the Wave mic.
You can use elgato capture cards to record and stream mobile gameplay, just have to use a splitter to filter out the HDCP protection, I'm really hoping this new card doesn't need that 🤞🤞🤞 I'm currently using a cheap Chinese video capture card that cost like £5 to stream my gameplay from my phone (android)
I want them to be compatible with older systems (GameCube, Wii, and so on) and as low of latency as possible. The reason is that I use a capture card so that I can play on my older consoles without having to use my TV. I can record that stuff but for some weird reason I can't play on my monitor.
I think soon enough will see capture cards fully integrated into devices instead of it being a seperate device you need to buy to be able to do that. I think for future consoles that will be mandatory.
I would love to see capture cards being able to have multiple inputs and choose which one to use through software. As someone that use multiple consoles, it would be a nice feature to have.
I have both PC and Next gen PS5...and while this device is a very nice/affordable features I'm disappointed that there isnt HDMI 2.1 4K 120fps. Thats ultimately been the main thing holding it back
I want a capture card that lets me use my GPU to do post-process enhancements to console games like Upscaling and Anti Aliasing. It will never happen, but I want it.
For the last couple of years I have been using the HD60S+, and it's been a solid unit, I did have a stutter issue but I fixed it pretty quick. A couple of months ago I had to downsize my monitor, and the new monitor I purchased no matter what I did, I couldn't get a signal from my XSX... So I ended up purchasing the HD60X, which worked a treat... But I noticed that there was stuttering in my recordings. Nothing I have troubleshooted was working. I went to Reddit, but nothing. Found someone who had the stuttering issue as me, but they haven't been able to fix it either. So I reached out to Elgato (waiting for them to get back to me). This morning my husband suggested to plug the HD60S+ back in to see if it will actually work this time. Well, no idea HOW but it works (signal & no stuttering)! I spent $300 for this HD60X. I'm disappointed & have no use for it!
Maybe stuff like recording on SD cards like the 4K60 S+ in a PCI Express, along with being able to separate audio. 4:4:4 12 bit color 4k60. Probably a pipe dream but it would be nice😅
HDMI 2.1 for 4k@120hz passthrough for current gen systems. Multi input switching would be nice as well. Ideally, 2-3 console inputs that can be switched with a simultaneous video input would be perfect.
If I remember correctly Sony did recently confirm via the PlayStation Blog that VRR will be coming to the PS5 in a near future firmware update, so hopefully we're looking around Q2/Q3 2022 for its release.
Great, so Elgato stripped their capture card comparison table and removed the multi app support from it. Does this new one have that? The only reason the Elgato HD60S existed till now and was still one of the best of their USB lineup is this very feature. EDIT: Just did a research: no, the HD60X DOES NOT have multi app support! This leaves the 4k60 Pro the ONLY currently available Elgato card to have this feature which is a huge bummer. Gonna keep my HD60S till it dies.
I would love to see them work with MacOS. Like you mentioned in an earlier video, I've got a powerful Mac for work and I'd really like to utilize it for recording and streaming. Currently using an external 4K60 S+ recording to SD card, then editing in Premiere on my Mac.
I'd like to see content creation devices go further, being able to capture with out the need for an OBS or extra software. A device that is both the capture card and the broadcasting software all roll into one.
@@CyberKnight1 oh wait a minute I know what you’re talking about I did that but Elgato still needs to be in Analog cause the chat didn’t come through on setting just speakers on Xbox
My company has been actually using Elgato Cards (Cam Link 4K and HD 60 S) plugged in to Android smartphones to do multi location streams for a couple of years now using CameraFi Live and it works flawlessly. We use this for events that occur over a large area or simultaneously from really far apart locations. One example would be to live stream Rally competitions, were cars cover huge distances in each course.
I am using the HD60X. It's awesome! I stream off a old Dell Xeon workstation. I originally purchased a HD60pro PCIe capture card. But it would BSOD at boot most likely due to the age of the workstation. So I took it back and exchanged it for the HD60X. I haven't had a single issue with it yet. There occassional disconnects but that has been very rare. I use the chat link cable from my MV7 (which runs my sound from the PC) Everything works perfectly. Love this device!
I'd like to see Capture Cards for mobile devices, but I'd also like to see them integrated into stream decks and other similar products for consolidation of devices. Having something that you could just plug in and not have to have a mess of devices on your stream space.
Hey Harris! One thing I didnt hear you talk about this capture card was issues if any that came up during testing and thats if you did any testing. The one issue a lot of us ElGato capture card users end up having with one or the other capture cards (specially the external ones) is #1. A delay when viewing gameplay. While the HD60 Pro and 4KPro (internal capture cards) are advertised as "instant gameplay" there is still some delay, the HD60 and the HD60S+ have a much longer delay. And #2. Sound and video sync issues...all of ElGato capture cards gave me the same issue with the exception of the HD60 PRO4K (internal one), which was that the longer you stream, the longer a desync in audio you would get, the video will remain the same but the audio would start to fall behind, so you see gameplay but with a delay in the audio...see explosion but you hear the BOOM a second or two later. This could temporarily be fixed by refreshing the capture card mid-stream and permanently be fixed by splitting the audio and video via adapter and sending the audio to the PC or GOXLR via optic line, that way you have a video and audio feed in two separate channels with no delay which is an issue if your motherboard doesnt have a line in and or if you dont have a GOXLR. Hoping that new capture cards dont have either one of this issues and a quality of life zero delay in gameplay. Id pay more for a card that had a extra BUFF in RAM or processing power so that there is not gameplay delay or sound desync with having the option of being an internal or external peripheral. Your thoughts are welcome! Thanks in advance!
As someone who mainly rocks itx form factor - I have wanted something that is simple and works outside of my SFF case and can still be powerful enough to process frames quickly. Seems like a good solution for small form factor PC peeps.
Love the video! Quick question, I want to start streaming using my Xbox Series X and my 13" MacBook Pro M1 2020, so I wanted to confirm if this will work with M1. I see the specs on the website don't mention it so I wanted to be sure. Also, is it necessary to buy a cord that will connect directly to the thunderbolt port on this Mac, or will it work alright with a dongle that has USB-A on it?
What I expect from a capture card that cost over $100: I should be able to play High FPS games using it without it effecting performance. It should be the same as if I wasn't using it.
Would love to see a dock the size of a usb c adapter example size Belkin® USB-C™-To-Micro USB Adapter Elgato plastic isnt premium feel or can last on the go 4K/30 recordings are only possible with 4K/30 source No real stand out features compared to the HD60 S+ Software isn't the best and needs to be optimized or open sourced 0.0 "if you already have the HD60 S+, unless you really need those new features (VRR and 4K 30 recording) then you might want to wait for Elgato’s future offerings" At this point just spend extra towards a 4k60.
I want a capture card that records to an HDD / SSD in lossless what companies do with capture card is sadly the bare minimum IMO, more resolution higher refresh rate.
Hey! I don’t know if you know this it’s a really cool fact. The audio jack for the capture card isn’t even really necessary because XBOX allows you to switch your audio pass through to your “speakers “ so that you can automatically capture team party chat/game chat without plugging it into the elgato. I stream and record videos and all voice chat is automatically recorded because of my Xbox settings❤️✌️
I don’t think cap cards need so much more in the way of features. They just need more bandwidth. But a lot of the issue people have with cap cards tend to be more with said devices being recorded. Having Togo the extra step for the chat link cable on the ps4/5 is insufferable compared to using discord. But because you can’t use discord on consoles for voice chat, it becomes a mess, or just playing single player games to record. Also supported resolutions would be cool, I would love to hook up my driving simulator to my ps5 to play GT7, but the ps5 supports 1080, or 4k. So it becomes Ann exercise in frustration to just hook it up to a super ultrawide monitor. And lastly, sorry for the long comment. But image quality/stream quality having todo with encoding/bandwidth. Here’s hoping something like AV1 can come around and just kill it to where you don’t get compression artifacts or lose tons of visual fidelity the second the camera starts to move in a game.
I have a HD60S+ and wanted to stream Elden ring off of ps 5 but not being able to pass through 4k 60 was a huge roadblock to me doing that without having to buy the 4k card. Especially since I primarily use my Mac for the streaming computer now. With this it gives me the 4k PCI capture card perks without needing it and still being able to use my streaming computer of choice my Mac. Smart move Elgato.
I think the reason why the ps5 have been popular but haven't been "needing" the refresh rates is that, eversince the PS4, people have been streaming directly through the console, I'm not sure if it's common for the Xbox to have those features with the Xbox one and later, but it's something people have pointed out multiple times with the PS consoles and I've seen more people talking about than through the Xbox. Just a theory though because as I have streamed through my PS4 since my computer hates playing games right now (getting a new computer soon, but still point still stands.). It would be nice to have an device that would just attach through the ipad/tablets because it would open whole new ways to stream directly on your tablet through obs without any extra programs if say you're an art streamer. I get you're thinking of outside streaming but it would be highly useful for art streamers as well overall within their homes or even if they want to do art out plein air.
Would love to see a capture card that has multiple inputs for those who have multiple consoles we like to stream from. That way, we don't have to rely on a splitter to make streaming more convenient.
The future of capture cards? Intagration. With the boom of work from home and streaming jobs, capture cards will be absorbed into motherboards for PC builds and eventualy into phones/tablets. Ty for upvoting this TED talk :)
USB type-c connections should really be embraced for the high-resolution 4K captures, where you can even record to an external SSD similar to how a 4K camera can record to external SSDs with no sweat.
As a streamer myself, I'd personally love to do more IRL streams but don't currently have the gear (or even the 4g/5g infrastructure near me) to enable that. Would be great to have more gear and apps available to enable us to provide high quality IRL streams. The technology exists already, just not in tidy enough/affordable packages for most streamers.
I also hate when the box pull tabs don't work right. Rocking the HD60 S+. I may scoop this up and use the S+ for my camera. Also, I can't find it anywhere yet. Did you break an embargo?
I love my HD60 X, I just wish it could record 120 fps and RUclips had 120 playback. Sacrificing enjoyment in 120 just to steam and record in 60 takes the fun out of it
My dream capture card is this: - 4K120 HDR VRR pass trough - 4K60 HDR recording - Integrated switch so you can plug in your PC, PS5 and Nintendo Switch at the same time without the need of switching cables aaaaaall the time - More outputs (switchable) so i can put it into my pc when i want to stream and play on my monitor and one plug into my tv whenever i play on the sofa off stream. So i dont have to switch cables here aswell THIS would be the ultimate capture card for me. Bring this and charge me what you want. Would solve all the problems i have right now..
Hot take!! I feel like this could change the game for a couple things. 1. Music streams, putting this on your pedal board or under your piano changing scenes, or tracks, camera angles as you play your music! Would captivate an audience so well! (Note there so much more than just what i put) 2. Podcasts, similar to the music side of things. Having that seemless interaction without have to break eye contact with audiance or the people youre interviewing. 3. The Animation streamer, first thought is someone who use ton of animations while streaming like Dr Disrespect, image him being able to integrate his animations with out using his hands. Have different scenarios change what the buttons do. Point is... I want it bad! 😅
I wanna see a capture card with basically a mini pc built into it that can record, livestream, run possibly discord or any other communication and video application. I think that would be the end all. because you could just chuck it in a case with the computer somewhere or have it on your desk. And if it's good enough you should be able to either remote in or pull up a preview to stick on a second monitor on the main pc. Removing the need for an extra monitor, mouse, keyboard and headset. (or instead of that maybe a built in kvm switch idk) I am thinking like the plug and play ability of most of elgoto's stuff. That would be so cool.
I bought the original HD60 6ish months or so before the S came out, so my console streaming setup is in need of a boost. Probably going to be picking this up.
Probably not a future, but a nice thought, is the ability to take Zoom calls with a mirrorless camera rig that you can walk around with. Basically you're carrying a device that has an operating system that can run anything a PC can run, with a capture card integrated in it, has WiFi, and doubles as a monitor that can show yourself or the Zoom application. One might already be able to do something like this with wireless transmitter for video, headphone and microphone audio to a stationary computer, but you won't be able to see other people's faces, and connection might suffer if you wander too far from the PC. I wonder if a Raspberry pi can be used to host the OS, and a small usb based capture card can be hooked up to it for a portable solution. In the far future: a drone or a robot that acts as a cameraman and follows you around.
I would expect capture cards to evolve with consoles and be able to keep up with most new features that consoles achieve. Like I love the fact that this thing has VRR.
Hey Harris, I love the look of the new studios but I have to ask: what is the black textured material on your ceiling? I have an office area that would really benefit from something like that. Thanks!
Id love to see a dual PC capture "dock/card". Something with dual pc setup with a kvm usb switch. BIggest thing with Elgato is audio and gaming audio issues. Atleast thats what I had.
Im waiting for the monitor companies to catch up and just put a passthrough on it. It would eliminate the need for a capture card for a lot of people. The monitor gets the feed, then you have an HDMI out to go to the PC or HDMI to USB to the PC. Its such a simple concept.
I'd like to see a dual slot capture card just rammed to the teeth with ports. Eg 6-8 1080p 60fps inputs, bandwidth wise we should be capable. Not everything people use is all 4k see every pour in your face quality
I'm using an HD60S+. What I'd love to see is an external capture card with multiple HDMI inputs with a switcher built in. Then I can plug all my consoles into one capture card and just use a button or software toggle to switch which one I'm capturing instead of having to switch cables or have multiple capture cards. It's a niche issue, and I know I could throw in my own HDMI switcher, but if I'm going for my "ideal" capture card that would be on it.
To me the most important things is to be able to capture everything without ruining my gaming experience. I would like to play the game as it is supossed to be played without worrying about not capturing sound when using wireless headphones. Also 4K utility needs and overhaul and HD60S program was much better in terms of capturing for content creators.
Does the HD60 X support simultaneous application capture like the HD60 S (non +) did? I was a bit miffed when I heard they phased out the HD60 S without offering a USB capture card replacement that supports this feature. As soon as I saw the news about the HD60 X I assumed it would headline with this feature, but I'm not seeing it advertised as having or not having it.
@@VicariousxD yeah that makes sense, it wasn't / isn't totally clear to me if this was a UVC device as it's not listed on any of their FAQ / driver pages yet.
Just got confirmation from Elgato on Twitter that Multi App is not supported, too bad. The 4K60 Pro is really the only reasonable option that has this hyper-convenient feature now, and it requires you have a spare x4 slot with properly allocated lanes. Luckily this isn't a problem I'm running into, but I'd think they'd have a USB solution after phasing the last one out.
great videos thanks. hopefully you can help me cos i am unable to find a comparison video of the elgato hd60 x and the razer ripsaw hd .. will be used for PS5 which would you recommend? would like to be able to keep the best passthrough possible and best streaming possible. they are both a year or more old already you think there is a newer version of either coming? thanks! sp what do you think of this CC AVerMedia Live Gamer Ultra 2.1 ?
I am now using the HD60 X with dual PC (Gaming PC + Gaming Laptop) setup and I had 2 problems with the HD60 X that I did not have with the HD60 S. #1 I could not clone my 1080p 360hz display with my gaming PC even setting the card at 1080P . Even called Elgato and couldn't figure it out. Gaming PC clones 100% perfect on 1440P though! Still having an issue with it though...#2 problem I am having is I run analog game/chat audio from my stream port on Astro A40 Mixamp to the capture card to make an easy EQ setup of audio/chat mix. Realized after stream that the audio is delayed from video about 2-3 seconds. I had to run the aux cable to my gaming laptop mic port. Bummer there because it doesn't sound as good...maybe some bugs that can be fixed with an update?
This is what I’ve been waiting for I’m building a new pc ( mine is dated ) it will be itx but the boards only have one slot for cards so I couldn’t use the 4k60pro now I can get this thanks for this vid.
Hi very useful information. I hope you answer my question. The HDMI source PC(where the game is) does it show in the device manager that the HDMI goes to Elgato? Or it shows the actual screen pass through it like a Dell monitor? I mean is this hardware stealthy?
Random thought from the world of Audio Interfaces. There are a lot of audio interfaces that can run DSPs (plug-ins) on the card to alleviate processor pressure on your editing computer. I’d love to see capture cards go in the same direction. Kind of a crazy thought, but maybe just run OBS straight out of the capture card? Basically it would be a purpose built computer at that point (much like a console is a purpose built computer for gaming). So, big card with an input for the game, the mic, a camera and maybe a Stream Deck. Runs something like OBS or SLOBS and can do vTubing stuff for all the lovely vTubers out there…maybe? I dunno, part of me worries that streaming setups aren’t standardized enough for an idea like this to work. But I can’t help but think a purpose built, small form factor (ie., portable) streaming all in one might be a cool idea. Just put it on the entertainment center next to the PS5 and off you go.
I think COVID is a reason that IRL streams are going to be the next big thing. In the transition where some people are choosing to go out and some aren’t, now is the best time for streamers to take advantage by doing something that others simply can’t or won’t. Plus, the real world will provide content and interactions that playing games or just chatting streams could never
For the last 15 years (and probably more) I've been using Logitech equipment (+ Steam Controllers), but last week I decided to give Elgato a chance. So I bought Stream Deck XL and Facecam and... this company makes incredible stuff. The only problem I have is that they make separate software for every hardware, which is annoying, but I will have to get use to it. Anyway what I expect from capture card? That i won't need second PC for streaming.
What capture card is in your rig.. right. now.

Would still like to see Elgato do a Dual Capture external card. So you don’t need a separate cam link and game capture card.

The 4K60S+ is capable of capturing and encoding footage at 4K 60fps while plugged in via USB 3.0, which makes me confused about why they haven't made anything like what you suggested yet. Clearly the bandwidth of the USB 3.0 protocol isn't the limiting factor.

Then you are stuck with what you have on the monitor. That is an extra cost as well without any flexibility.
would never buy this. paying the extra £150 at least for a monitor which will be obselete in a few years and the whole thing will need replacing, or just buy a monitor and a capture card and be able to upgrade them each separately as you need to.
That's a whole bunch of silicon that could be going to people that are waiting to build a gaming PC with all the shortages.
after 8 minute is basically...: "WAIT DON'T GO AWAY, I STILL NEED TO FILL MY 10 MINUTES!" xD
What I want from Capture Cards, is to be able to record and stream more things, like games off of phones and tablets (since Epocam isn't on Android)
PC free recording like the Live gamer portable series (I know Elgato has the One capture card that does this, but I want it to be more affordable, 400 is Steep)
The ability to either use SD cards OR Portable Hard drive to send recorded footage to.
You can use elgato capture cards to record and stream mobile gameplay, just have to use a splitter to filter out the HDCP protection, I'm really hoping this new card doesn't need that 🤞🤞🤞
I'm currently using a cheap Chinese video capture card that cost like £5 to stream my gameplay from my phone (android)
I want them to be compatible with older systems (GameCube, Wii, and so on) and as low of latency as possible. The reason is that I use a capture card so that I can play on my older consoles without having to use my TV. I can record that stuff but for some weird reason I can't play on my monitor.
M1 ipad as a streaming device would be awesome, I would guess the hard part would be making a streaming app that supports it
Place looks nice. I cant wait to see the finished form of it! Nice job
I think soon enough will see capture cards fully integrated into devices instead of it being a seperate device you need to buy to be able to do that. I think for future consoles that will be mandatory.
They already do. The Xbox series consoles have the ability to record gameplay footage to a USB thumb drive up to an hour
I would love to see capture cards being able to have multiple inputs and choose which one to use through software. As someone that use multiple consoles, it would be a nice feature to have.
The Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle does that however it's painful to find or get working nowadays
This is great. I won't have to spend money on expensive HDMI switchers with low latency then
I CAN FINALLY GET THE 120HZ outta my new Xbox!
Bro I’m still using an Elgato HD… the one that was released a decade ago…
Ideally, 2-3 console inputs that can be switched with a simultaneous video input would be perfect.
harris before dinner: its pretty done
harris after dinner: its just a capture card
Echo echo echo - slick product design from team Elgatooohhh.
I expect to see some day that a MB manufacturer will include an HDMI/USB C capture built into the board itself
If I remember correctly Sony did recently confirm via the PlayStation Blog that VRR will be coming to the PS5 in a near future firmware update, so hopefully we're looking around Q2/Q3 2022 for its release.
It was mentioned in last update that they are releasing it soon.
Dang that's disappointing.
@@HungTangOfficial well that is the price of it being UVC.
Gonna buy one to digitize VHS tapes! I just need an upscaler to connect to the VCR and to the HD60X. Great video! Thanks for sharing!
Gaming just got gooder 🎮 Streaming too, thanks for these specs and details!
It would definitely be nice to get the game chat over HDMI on Xbox.
Analog distorts the sound in my opinion 🤙🏾
In the console's settings, you can tell the Xbox to output chat to headset only, speakers (HDMI) only, or both.
@@CyberKnight1 you can do this on the regular Xbox one?
@@CyberKnight1 oh wait a minute I know what you’re talking about I did that but Elgato still needs to be in Analog cause the chat didn’t come through on setting just speakers on Xbox
@@CyberKnight1 Elgato used to have a feature in the app where the user could select HDMI with analog but they must have got rid of it
My company has been actually using Elgato Cards (Cam Link 4K and HD 60 S) plugged in to Android smartphones to do multi location streams for a couple of years now using CameraFi Live and it works flawlessly.
Sooooo cracked. The grapple after the mantle was elite
I'd like to see Capture Cards for mobile devices, but I'd also like to see them integrated into stream decks and other similar products for consolidation of devices. Having something that you could just plug in and not have to have a mess of devices on your stream space.
I just got done buying a s plus and then this! This is one of those videos you actually want to shoot the messenger. 😃 keep up the great work my guy.
Nice, we went from a floating river rock to an actual aesthetic looking gaming PC device. Plus everything else it does, I dig. Love it
Love the video!
Would love to see a dock the size of a usb c adapter example size Belkin® USB-C™-To-Micro USB Adapter
Elgato plastic isnt premium feel or can last on the go
4K/30 recordings are only possible with 4K/30 source
No real stand out features compared to the HD60 S+
Software isn't the best and needs to be optimized or open sourced 0.0
"if you already have the HD60 S+, unless you really need those new features (VRR and 4K 30 recording) then you might want to wait for Elgato’s future offerings"
At this point just spend extra towards a 4k60.
I want a capture card that records to an HDD / SSD in lossless
what companies do with capture card is sadly the bare minimum IMO, more resolution higher refresh rate.
elgato's 4k60s+ does just that, but it's not cheap.
Hey! I don’t know if you know this it’s a really cool fact. The audio jack for the capture card isn’t even really necessary because XBOX allows you to switch your audio pass through to your “speakers “ so that you can automatically capture team party chat/game chat without plugging it into the elgato. I stream and record videos and all voice chat is automatically recorded because of my Xbox settings❤️✌️
always love your videos tbh there is something calming and just learn curving about it tbh
😳😳😳😳 do I need it? Probably not lol. But will I still buy it? YES
I am honestly surprised Nvidia or AMD havnt added a capture slot on their newer cards.
Finally got to see your video as soon as it came out love your content helps out a ton!
Awesome video man, cleared up a lot of confusion I had about this card ty.
i hope we get more irl streaming and content, shitcon/shitcamp were both so much fun.
Sacrificing enjoyment in 120 just to steam and record in 60 takes the fun out of it
Thank you for explaining why they were outdated! I need a capture card with certain features this made it easier!
My dream capture card is this:
- 4K120 HDR VRR pass trough
- 4K60 HDR recording
- Integrated switch so you can plug in your PC, PS5 and Nintendo Switch at the same time without the need of switching cables aaaaaall the time
- More outputs (switchable) so i can put it into my pc when i want to stream and play on my monitor and one plug into my tv whenever i play on the sofa off stream. So i dont have to switch cables here aswell
THIS would be the ultimate capture card for me. Bring this and charge me what you want. Would solve all the problems i have right now..
Daymnn that light looks good behind the plant!
Would love to see a capture device, stream deck, and something like GoXLR or Beacon all in one device.
the echo in this videos sheesh 😂
Hot take!! I feel like this could change the game for a couple things.
1. Music streams, putting this on your pedal board or under your piano changing scenes, or tracks, camera angles as you play your music! Would captivate an audience so well! (Note there so much more than just what i put)
I wrote this before watching the rest of the video...😬
I wanna see a capture card with basically a mini pc built into it that can record, livestream, run possibly discord or any other communication and video application. I think that would be the end all. because you could just chuck it in a case with the computer somewhere or have it on your desk. And if it's good enough you should be able to either remote in or pull up a preview to stick on a second monitor on the main pc. Removing the need for an extra monitor, mouse, keyboard and headset. (or instead of that maybe a built in kvm switch idk) I am thinking like the plug and play ability of most of elgoto's stuff. That would be so cool.
Ahhh i almost forgot to watch you vid but love you man
I bought the original HD60 6ish months or so before the S came out, so my console streaming setup is in need of a boost.
Ordered one of these specifically for the compatibility with OSSC resolutions. Really looking forward to it!!
irl streaming would be amazing next level content going live straight from your iphone would change the game of streaming great idea :)
+1 it would absolutely adore a solution like that.
You're right about the Xbox Xonsoles. We've had variable refresh for some time.
Im waiting for the monitor companies to catch up and just put a passthrough on it. It would eliminate the need for a capture card for a lot of people. The monitor gets the feed, then you have an HDMI out to go to the PC or HDMI to USB to the PC. Its such a simple concept.
How long did it take to get it shipped?
I'd like to see a dual slot capture card just rammed to the teeth with ports. Eg 6-8 1080p 60fps inputs, bandwidth wise we should be capable. Not everything people use is all 4k see every pour in your face quality
ndi is the future of streaming imo. Like as soon as they get that working on the consoles, there wont be a need for capture cards anymore
Lets go holy shit i've been waiting for these!
10000% IRL streaming- we need it
Does the HD60 X support simultaneous application capture like the HD60 S (non +) did?
I was a bit miffed when I heard they phased out the HD60 S without offering a USB capture card replacement that supports this feature. As soon as I saw the news about the HD60 X I assumed it would headline with this feature, but I'm not seeing it advertised as having or not having it.
Me neither.
I guess that's a limitation with UVC devices in general, rather than capture card. It most probably doesn't do that either.
Was so close to upgrading to the hd60s+ . Can't believe you just dropped this video haha. This will work just fine for switch yeah? For 1080, 30fps
This is what I’ve been waiting for I’m building a new pc ( mine is dated ) it will be itx but the boards only have one slot for cards so I couldn’t use the 4k60pro now I can get this thanks for this vid.
i was lucky to buy the hd60 s+ so late that i was able to return the S+ the day X came out. This new X is worth it.
If the 4K60 Pro could do variable refresh rate and record multiple audio tracks that would be perfect for me at this point.
Hi very useful information. I hope you answer my question. The HDMI source PC(where the game is) does it show in the device manager that the HDMI goes to Elgato? Or it shows the actual screen pass through it like a Dell monitor? I mean is this hardware stealthy?
My patience has PAID OFF 👏 I've been holding out my 60s for YEARS 😁
Random thought from the world of Audio Interfaces.
Plus, the real world will provide content and interactions that playing games or just chatting streams could never
Was literally just looking for a capture card for PS5 2 days ago. Glad I don’t have to get the 4K just for 1080p240fps pass through.
I think it’s super funny that yours shows every fingerprint and smug too. What did they make the S+ from that made them always look nasty dirty?!
