    Oh wow, I really appreciate this John! I render and model primarily in Maya and now I'm realizing I was confused by the different terminology they use, this makes perfect sense. You're a great teacher, thank you so much for taking the time! (also perfect pronunciation 👌)

    Thanks for this! I'm still confused though. What's the difference between a height map and a displacement map then if it BOTH needs high poly and it actually alters geometry?

    but what is in substance the difference between height and displacement. both doing literally the same.

      Hi Hanterdro, In Substance you can change the shader type used in the project. Some use the Height channel for displacement and others use the Displacement channel. Other than that they work in the same way I believe. I hope that helps.

    I've got a question for ya! How do you get opacity to work? Like... if I use a material from Substance Source that has opacity, I can't get an opacity map output for Studio that actually contains the opacity information from that substance.
