Great to see the progress. We bought 13 acres that came with a 6000sqft underground bunker and are working on renovating. Can’t wait to work on the above ground homestead.

That moment when the concrete is in and the forms did not blow out is a pretty great feeling :) Congratulations!

Hi guys, hope you are doing well!! So sad not to hear from you, but I think you need all the time to get the house to a point were you can move in before the winter. Just give us a quick update - nothing elaborate.

The walls held together. I was worried that the walls would budge when the concrete was poured. That was a good system. congrads.

Really impressed with all the work. With consideration of cellar something I always wanted was water hose clean system, then it would have to be able to drain. Then it would have dust free, fresh earth smell.

I'm wondering why you didn't just glue some ICF offcuts to the inside of the ICF blocks to form your beam pockets rather than make them out of wood, cut the hole and fix them in place... Getting the wood 'moulds' out of the set concrete is going to be just as much work as installing them... instead of just digging out the soft polystyrene with a screwdriver or something... Much quicker!
And no concrete poking (compacting/vbrating) going on...? I hope you don't have loads of voids in your walls!

Congratulations on a good pour. Glad to see it. Too late now of course but I don't see a doorway from the exterior to the crawl space. Based on my experience it would get used a LOT. Just a thought, when you plan the plumbing and electrical put in more hose bibs and exterior plugs than you think you need. "too many" is just barely enough. Trust me. Also allow for floods up on the peak of the house as high as possible. You won't need them often but they are worth the few bucks to put in so you can light up the area when it hits the fan.

There's a few things that I don't understand, how that stayed together and kept the concrete from spilling out is the first thing !
Second, it looks like a very tall structure for the thickness of the concrete, I understand it has some rebar in but it's only braced with plastic, that seems a little sketchy to me.
Third what kind of load can that hold ? By the looks of it you could only build a single storey house on top of that.
And last what will it be covered with ?

    1) @6:04 Granite has a hardness of 6-7 on the Mohs scale, ie it's relatively hard and definitively not "peelable" with a miniature rock hammer. I therefore first thought it looked more like a coarse sandstone, perhaps orthoquartzite, a relatively pure light-colored quartz-sandstone. However, then I google "decomposed granite" and I learned something new :) [[PS! Where I live (in Norway) I never heard about decomposed granite, but then again, I'm just a simple woodworker]]
    2) If you plan to use the crawl space for smtgh useful, why didn't you install a door and windows? (looks like plenty of space)

Having sold my PS Orion and moved to a lake front in Oklahoma, my memories of racing stripes and tacos has begun to fade. So I started watching at the beginning and found that I have a request. Since your life is now so idyllic, why dont you revisit harder times and show us the legendary Shipwreck of the S V Adventurer in Santa Barbara. Since it wasn't as tragic as the wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald, and it has been softened in the hair conditioner of time, it will be therapeutic to roast the villain in RUclips fame besides the statute of limitations has rolled. Please, please, please
