- After a 3 hour delay, first from a mechanical issue, and then delayed further by a thunderstorm, we finally departed Edmonton (YEG) Airport on board our awesome little A220-300. Really a wonderful plane to fly in as a traveler. From the unique roar from the engines, the comfort on this plane is quite stunning.

I love that roar when the engines spool up. But will always miss the sounds of the older A320 family aircraft.
I hear ya. I miss the old days - the louder the better!
Same. Good old Canadian engineering!
The IAE’s
The A220 is a shortfield, self-catapulting aircraft, and among the fastest climbing planes an airline can buy. While the A220’s comfort, quietness and fuel-efficiency are well-known, it has a long list of high-performance capabilities and a prized transonic wing that no other plane has. Boeing could not do better, and Bombardier went to town with its plane. I’m very happy you caught this one.
Thanks!! Yea could really feel it on this one
It's an EXCELLENT jet that Airbus acquired. As you stated the quietness, fuel efficiency, they certainly hit a HOME RUN with this short haul aircraft. It BY FAR exceeds the Boeing MAX's and even beats them in certain areas especially the 300 variant. Look for them to take over the short haul market in the near future for sure.
@@tomtalker2000 would even go above and say it's a solid medium haul plane! AC has been flying them YUL-YVR 5+ hrs.
@@avgeekyvr When the runway is contaminated with a sheet of rainwater, pilots are obliged to use full takeoff power. Like the 757, the A220 has a LOT of power for its weight. Book another A220 flight on a rainy day, and you will get to ride a rocket again.
717s are short runway airplanes too!
Wow that spool up sound is like whale calls 😄
haha
It will really sound like you’re in one especially if the engines are out of sync, and the sound doubles…
Wow, what a fast and powerful takeoff, that was Boeing 757 like performance 😁👌
definitely
Except it’s not a pencil
Love the whale sound 🐳🐳🐳
Sounds rather quiet but I prefer this to the high pitched fire alarm-like sound of the LEAP engines in 737 Max
full power in this sounds like idle
I could not hear the engines. Man this plane is gonna be a hit.
Kinda like the 787 in that regard, and both do have the high bypass sound from the 777.
It's essentially the surface pro tablet of airplanes. No lag
Wow...Fast-climbing is right.
What a climb out, all that is missing is more buzz
The point of the engine is to have NO buzz.
Airbus hit an absolute blinder by cashing in on this bombardier project. when was this video taken? upload date is peak covid but seems the plane is quite full
This plane is quiet yet so fast
Awesome! The A220’s an epic plane, so fast accelerating, flies further, has a quiet cabin. It’s cool 👌
Indeed it is!
Never been to Edmonton but I hear the airport is quite a distance from the city.
What kind of Livery is that?
so sick
Thanks!
Im sorry but some of those people need to shut up!
This was a charter flight - so majority knew each other, or had met on the earlier flight to Edmonton. Was a quick day trip and no revenue passengers.
@@avgeekyvr interesting. I guess I never had a flight where people were that talkative. It just seems a little abnormal to me ya know :]
@@MQretrolite haha yea if that were a revenue flight totally!
full power is not impressive when it barely has any roar...
That actually makes it far more impressive
Maybe not in the cabin but outside of the plane the 220 engine sound is unmistakable
Why should that matter? It does the job.
How much power does it need at 6:34? Why that much?
I don't know. A lot of carriers like pushing those engines and that ends up damaging them faster.
And they wonder why they have issues haha.
no buzzing sound on takeoff :( GE90 or TRENT800 sounds better
Too much talking going on!
One of THE QUIETEST jets in the short haul market right now. And they FAR surpass the Boeing MAX's. Look for them to take over in the near future folks.
It’s so quiet
No buzz
It’s sad these are replacing the MD80’s
why? the 80s are cool but this aircraft is better in literally everyway, from a pilot and passenger POV at least
@@gavcom4060 From avgeek it's boring, no buzzsaw but that's the future I guess
@@ethansaviation2672 I get it less noise ain’t that exciting, but it’s literally better in every way possible for the regular flyer
@@gavcom4060 Ye I guess
@@gavcom4060 true
That was far from full power.
No. It was full power.
All Airbus plane I love it most i love a330 , a330neo ,a350 and a380 but this plane a220 i dont like it ugly plane
But it’s a comfortable ride for sure 😄 ✈️
This is a 220 mate... Technically a C series but we'll gloss over that lol
@@ScaniaVabis580 sorry I mean airbus a220 not a320
@@alialmansoori6584 that's OK mate, no need to apologise, I'm not really a fan of the styling of the 220 myself, far too quiet too.
From a passengers point of view though, the comfort and quiet engines I'd say is almost unparalleled atm.
How is this an ugly plane? Yet you find the A380 attractive? The A380 is clunky and not sleek at all. Nor is it that aerodynamic. The A220 is very sleek and cute looking, attractive aircraft. If you like the A350's design, you should like this design. The windshield is very similar. Also, this isn't an Airbus plane. It's actually a C-series form Bombardier, but is called A220 now. It is very modern, efficient and quiet. Oh, and very comfortable.
Whats up with all the talking?
Annoying asf
Wait what? 3:18 XD
those small squares / lines of trees made me think of a Napoleonic battlefield
Is a220s takeoff fun like do u feel the fun or no cause some people say that you don’t feel it
My experience, you feel it when the pilot just gives ‘er!
The A220 is very quiet
Nice!
Impressive, well captured 👍
And unlike the piece of crap Boeing MAX 8 it doesn't nose dive into the ground.
It was 2 planes out of a thousand built. Pinecone.
What a loser comment to make.
Also they reuse the same damn concept instead of making a new one.
I despise A318, 19, 20s but I love flying on the A220.
Whats so bad about it?
