    I noticed when the sheep were looking straight at the camera, I saw that sheep can definitely see straight ahead, I remember hearing how sheep can almost see behind them without turning their heads, and I realized how sheep really do have wider vision range than us. I also remember though, that sheep have a blind spot right in their middle range. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if we look straight ahead at a door and the walls on either side of it, we see the door and the walls. But with a sheep, they can see the two walls on either side of the door but can not see the door. The door is in their blind spot, and that is because of sheep's eyes almost to the side of their face and a wider space between their eyes than we've got. But to make up for it, they can see further back than us, also due to their eyes almost to the sides of their face. But their eyes are close enough towards the front to where they can see straight ahead, except for their blind spot in the middle. But they can still see us if we're standing in front of them, I could see that by the way they looked at the camera, they saw you filming them. Except for the middle part of you? Correct me if I'm wrong about anything I've said

    Hi, nice setup.
    You mentioned your computer records, what program do you use?

      FarmIT3000 by Bordersoftware. www.bordersoftware.com A really good software for managing sheep breeding. Made for the UK , so some features are country-specific in terms of regulation, but that doesn't stop you from using it for data recording and analysis.

    I noticed some pens look a bit small for some of them. Are they big enough for them to move about much?

    Where do you buy your lambing pens/sorting system? I am looking to make a lambing barn and a new sorting system and trying to find a reliable/adapdable brand.

    Hi brilliant video as usual , would be interested in your feed rations and what you think about feeding hay or haylage or silage and what you mix with the tmr? Can you make TMR with haylage , I’ve only got 250 ewes but want to try making my own ration rather than feeding nuts

    • @innovativesheepbreeding4731
      @innovativesheepbreeding4731  4 года назад +1

      Thanks for your comments. I feed silage with a mineral pack plus milled barley and SoyPass (a protected soya product), the last two tweaked towards the start of lambing. TMR is very labour efficient but capital expensive and very healthy for the ewes. If the silage/ haylage is too dry it doesn't mix as well and tends to separate more. The silage doesn't need to be cattle dry matter levels thought. I use a tub mix which can handle round or square big bales but mostly use an Agbag, which if done right is better than clamp or bale.

      @@innovativesheepbreeding4731 would you ever do a video on your mixing ration would be interested to see , also I know it sounds a bit rough but would one of those large paddle cement mixer on the back of tractor mix TMR up sufficiently do you think ? Just thinking outside the box of how to mix it without forking out for a kheena
      Many thank

    The equipment is IAE, iae.co.uk . It has stood up very well. I am looking at possibly lambing outdoors and using the shed to overwinter and create a head of grass. Going off-farm for cheap overwintering is fraught with Biosecurity issues.

    • @innovativesheepbreeding4731
      @innovativesheepbreeding4731  6 лет назад

      Depends on the pressure sometimes only 24 hours, generally no longer than 48 hours unless there is a problem or we have had to relocate a lamb, which I still record and track.

      @@innovativesheepbreeding4731 , I noticed how there are many different breeds of sheep. This is what I've learned about different types of sheep, correct me if I'm wrong on any of this. There are all white or white face and white wool (most common kind too, right?), there's white wool with black face, and both black face and black wool. Then some sheep are shorter, stocky, and rotund looking, and others are longer and slender. Some sheep have longer, more narrow faces than others. Some are white with black spots on their face. Then some are hair sheep. And then there's wild sheep like the big horned sheep and big horned Agari in Tibet is it? One thing that all of the different types of sheep have in common, the males are called rams, females are ewes, and the young are called lambs with every single breed of sheep, domestic and wild, right?

    You've got to many sheep in your pins they're crowded. And the mothers that you have with the baby lambs they don't even have enough room to hardly lay down dirty water bowls sheep belong outside cruelty to keep them like you're keeping them.
