    Hi do you have to marinate your goat over night or can I just season and cook it the same day? Also do you have to have the scallions? I'm completely out. I want to cook this recipe today

    • @CookingWithJoan
      @CookingWithJoan  5 лет назад +1

      Gina Ford Hey! The good part about this seasoning is that it immediately marinates the meat so it does not have to sit for hours! Your food will taste like it’s been marinating for days ...and yes you can exclude the scallions you can add and take off any ingredients you want. Thanks for watching 🤗

    • @CookingWithJoan
      @CookingWithJoan  2 года назад

      Yoni thank for watching appreciate your support..the reason why i wash my meat with vinegar and lime it clean your meat and take away the rawness from it..but its ok how you choose to do it..when i season my meat with my blended seasoning i cook it right away because while cooking the seasoning marinated into the meat so I get more flavor from it

    • @bonitaweekes4366
      @bonitaweekes4366 6 лет назад +1

      Tene Ten, that seasoning is something that Caribbean peoples do, it's not innovative for us. In some Islands they use more of the green herbs than others and the consistency may vary. In Barbados our mixture is not as loose as some of the others, I think it's because if we are doing a whole chicken, a piece of pork leg, shoulder, lamb leg or fish, we'll put slits in the meat and put some of the mixture into the slits. Where as other people tend to put it on the outside only, we put it both inside and outside. I also find that we use a bit more onion in ours. The people of Spanish decent like Puerto Ricans put sweet pepper in theirs while we use hot pepper. Slight changes but all taste good.

    • @trevorb.yokkanan9801
      @trevorb.yokkanan9801 5 лет назад

      Bonita Weekes I put slits in my meat too, but I also create a combined seasoning mixture that can go anywhere on or in the meat.

    Why u don't measure the amount of ingredients u put onto the meat. If I should try cooking it like u do I might not get the same taste.

    • @jacquelinefitzwilliam-carr723
      @jacquelinefitzwilliam-carr723 6 лет назад +3

      Walter Rodgers As Jamaicans we don’t normally measure our ingredients from an early age. We just use our eyes & as we say we just judge the the amount we put in. I’ve been cooking like that for over 30yrs! It’s something u just get used to. Sorry if I’ve not been much help. Have a nice day. 🙂

      Fi tru! Ever since a pickney Meh auntie dem tell mi seh "IF U HAFFI MEASURE DEH INGREDIENT DEM DEN YUH CYANT COOK CURRY" In other words if you want yours one day to taste like mine that you love then u must watch us and learn. I'm glad they schooled me that way!!!

    I LOVED the look of the marinated meat ITSELF. Just so inviting. In fact... It looked better raw than cooked lol. I don't like when curry goat look too dark, but I think I would try the oven one day. Hopefully not as scanty gravy like this 🙏 And fi a big ooman, at least burn da curry 1st nuh! THEN finish off in the oven.

      Thanks for watching! This is not a tutorial on how to cook curry goat it’s a video on how I cook it and a more simple and less complicated way I cook it! Everyone cooks differently there is no right or wrong it’s what taste good to you. Don’t knock it until you try it. God bless 😁

    The most intrested part in Jameican food culture is no food cubes to extra taste. All r natural herbs . But in African recipe all add that cube this cube to taste. I wonder why they don't know the consequences of those artificial food cubes. Use all natural herbs live healthy people.

      Duffus Sheila when u buy it cut up like hers. U just trim out the majority of the fat and wash with vinegar and lime juice. U can use flour if u want.

    • @babylove8541
      @babylove8541 5 лет назад

      Exactly! like the green seasoning. Green seasonings differ from person to person. You can either make it yourself or you can buy it, I'd rather make it.

    • @RiddyOnline
      @RiddyOnline 5 лет назад

      Nothing secret about it, you can buy it in the store. Just go to your spice aisle and you'll find it.

    • @CookingWithJoan
      @CookingWithJoan  5 лет назад

      You can buy it at your local grocery store it’s just a mixture of seasonings in one ...i prefer to use this than plain salt but your free to use something else.
