We’re also excited for it!!🥹🥹
I'm glad that you enjoyed The Mines. The mall itself actually nearly died of closure some years ago. But they were bought by Singaporean management and they transformed the mall into what we see today. Ive been to this mall many times since I was a child. It holds so many memories to me.
So it was rebuilt into this new lake feature or was there already a lake back then when it was first built? Upon first loook at thumbnail, i thought its MBS
The Mines shopping mall was built back in 1996 :) Why do I know that without having to Google it? Because I had worked there for about a month after finishing high school. It's very nice for you to do a tour there showing appreciate of the little things which we all did as well almost 28 years ago. It was always packed during the weekends, and the water taxis were very busy. I am not sure if they still do it, but they used to have fireworks display every evening at 8pm from the first until the fifteenth day of Lunar New Year. It was quite a spectacle. It's very funny when you referred Laksa to a universe in Malaysia :) Noted that Richeese is trash, and Thai food is great! We will try it next time when I come back home. Thanks for sharing, it totally makes me a little homesick.
I remember when I was a child, I always wanted to hop on the cruise in mines mall. I was small like 6 or 7 years old, but I can still remember the excitement when my family and I went to the mines wonderland. Playing with ice and snow, having to wear all the matchy2 winter clothes 😂😂😂 sliding ice slides with my siblings. Such a memorable memory. It really was the best mall when we were kids! ❤
Malaysia has lots of beautiful malls. What a lovely boat cruise in the beautiful lake.
When I went on the boat ride a year ago, boat captain explained who owns each of the houses beside the lake. Apparently, one of the houses belongs to Michelle Yeoh.
Used to be 'The Hype', now it only have the neighbourhood mall vibes.
Sad to see most of the shops and restaurants now are no more, but that's how businesses are, moving to IOI most of them, maybe.
Remembered hanging out here in 2006 - 2012, before moving out to KL. Never took the boat ride though. 😂
Most of the mansions u saw belongs to VVIPs, btw 🤭
What a memory, thank you for sharing, guys! 👍
P.S. - That 'Stay With Me song by 松原 みき' really seals the nostalgia, TQVM. 👌
Hi hi iChang, if not mistaken, this Mines Shopping mall opened in 1997 and very popular then, there a mini theme park & LED deco too but later overtaken by the many newer & bigger malls that mushroom around Klang Valley before revived by CapitalMalls from SG in 2010.
It is time to revive the mall again ❤!
Thank you to Jimmy and Ichang for bringing back the memories. I haven't visited this mall in quite a long time. I used to visit this mall while I was in high school, and my parents used to take me here when I was a child. There is lots of memories here.
Wow..!! The mall has your child food and teenage memory…that’s beautiful🥹😍
this mall is legendary level.. ahh.. the memory..
about 15 years ago, there was a boat ride connecting the KTM station to the mall, the pier was next to the KTM bridge ramp at the shoplot, but it was closed after The Heritage was built.
Yes! The water taxi was heavily promoted by KTM too.. Just RM2 per person; I always choose to take the boat ride to get to the mall from Serdang jetty. Fun times!
Also around that time, my sister told me her expat colleagues used to take speedboats every morning to get to their office there at Sapura building. I thought that was cool! 😂
I’m not Japanese and I live in Los Angeles. I enjoy watching you explored the foods and places you visit in KL and Malaysia. It made want to go visit the country and try the delicious foods. 😊
Thank you so much for your kind comment…🥹🇺🇸
do it! :D
Bro you not live in Los Angeles😭
Thank you for giving me a virtual tour of mines. I have never been there before. Now i want to go!
It feels so weird everytime when I watch your videos, you guys always show me the places I did not knew about and now I'm watching you guys visiting a place this near my own home ;-;
The mines is on once the largest opencast tin mine in the world.
Almost 30 years ago, there is theme park beside the shopping complex call mines wonderland. There is a 'snow house' that we can play with snow there. 😊
And there is a mini zoo as well, with white tigers and other animals.
I see! That was called the wonderland…!😃 we love the nostalgic malls in Malaysia, can’t get anywhere else😍
@@ichangrm there is no ampang park anymore. Maybe you can try to go to BB plaza or lowyat plaza. Not sure if you can find good food. But nostalgia shopping mall it is.
Geez, I almost forgot about the snowhouse! :D
Mall The Mines bangunan lama
Those were Pacu fish, a species from the Pirahna family that are bigger and have teeth similar to humans. Thanks for sharing this vlog. I've almost forgotten about this nostalgic mall that brings back memories. Cheers!😅
Thank you for the information!!😮 we enjoyed a lot at the mines shopping mall🥰
Watching you guys Jalan-Jalan, already enough for me. It's like I go there too. Although I'm Malaysian, I still don't know so many places. I learned through your channel. Thank you 😊
Sungai Besi existed from 1974 to 1995. Sungai Besi was a historical mining town with many heavy industries such as steelworks, waste steel plants and other steel industries. Sungei Besi Tin Mine site was the largest and deepest open cast alluvial tin mine in the world and in Malaysia. The town has since developed from a large area of village settlements.
Nice to see you both having a sweet time, just chilling like this... ❤❤❤
This mall is pretty old. This was my go to place when I was studying nearby in 1999 - 2000. I did went here a few years back and it brings old memories. This mall is unique compared to other malls in the klang valley.
Its been a while since i went to the mines mall.. its nice to see it again. Might have to go there again after watching this video.. tq ichang & jimmy
Used to work in the area where you walked to the mall. Very nostalgic seeing you guys walking there towards the mall. Almost screamed at my pc monitor to tell you where the underground path is.
This mall has been around since the 90s, there used to be a theme park called Mines Wonderland long time ago. It's a mall every kids wanted to visit as the theme park has always being advertised in local tv station.
Its so rare to find a band that sings japanese songs... maybe 1/1000 bands in msia. Its like welcoming both Ichang n Jimmy lol. Priceless
Somehow I think this is one of the funniest adventure of Jimmy and IChang 😂😂😂
Thank you for your kind comment!☺️I’m glad that you’re enjoying the video!!😘
I died when the man said quack 😂
Nice way to end the video with that beautiful song "Stay with Me - Miki Matsubara"
Dulu air tasik nie biru n jernih sahaja..nampak cantik n ikan² berenang dalam air pun boleh tahu ikan jenis² apa...sekarang adoila
Such a memories when watching iChang jalan jalan at the mines, used to come here many times 10+plus years back before open the IOI city mall, some shopped i used to visit already not here but the mines cruise same place remain at Mines!
I love the longer vlog ! Please do it often !
I meaaan, if i knew, i wouldve go and try to meet you there. The Mines is really near to my house. daaaaaamnn..
watching this time video reminds me of my childhood. used to be super excited when going to the mines. indeed the mines has that nostalgic feelings. and also the mines wonderland, which was a theme park used to be next to the mines also had its glorious days back then. i really glad you guys found that entry tunnel. was worried you were going to cross the roads. 😂
I almost forgot about this mall...such the memory, reminiscing the past. The mall I used to go almost every month back since 2009 for healing.
I love the 'which laksa it is?' discussion. When I hear laksa, I always think of Penang laksa (I'm from Perak). I guess if you're from Johor or anywhere in Pantai Timur, you'll have a different laksa in mind
In general there are two types of laksa; asam-based or santan-based. My favourites were santan-based (laksa johor, terengganu or sarawak, in that order 😂)
this mall was so much ahead of its time during the 90s, when i was a kid i was excited seeing the boat inside the mall
I love hearing jimin speaks japanese fullyyyyy im glad you’re now comfortable in doing what you want and love and what’s best for you in this youtube journey of yours
* Jimmy😂
Come to sungai petani. We got Bazaar Ramadan at Taman Ria .
Yeah video baru 😊 hi Jimmy and ichang 👋
Hellooooo❤️
I used to go to The Mines Shopping Mall frequently back when i was an undergraduate, more than 10 years ago. Actually right after that overpass, there's a boat service that go directly to the mall and it cost only RM2 back then. I'm not sure about the availability nowadays. At @10:54, there's actually a small bridge connecting to the building you passed by and the path met at the mysterious ghibli tunnel. The last time i went there was 2018 for Big Bad Wolf so it might be changed already but that's from what i can remember.
Well done ichang, not many vloggers visited mines shopping mall
Woah very nostalgic. I was Universiti Putra Malaysia student in 2010 and occasionally came here back then. I'm like screaming when u guys didn't find the entrance haha. It's quite hard for the first timer. The lake is actually an ex mining site. After the mining activity endef, the site was filled with water over time and turn into a lake. Estimated the depth of the lake is around 100 meter. One more info the house surrounding the lake is not a resort. They are the rich politician, elite people, or cartel I dunno. FYI Tun Mahathir house is around there somewhere
Elite is cartel, politicians also cartel. 9nly cartel can get rich like this. 😅
This feels very nostalgic to me the mall holds so much memories n bring tears to my eyes 😅. I used to study at UPM fr 5 yrs 2009-2013, this mall is the most visited mall for us UPM students. From the route you walked from KTM Serdang to The Mines, we took the exact same route and omg it is still look the same! How i miss my student life
Wow ur response to the tunnel just like mine, it gave Spirited Away vibe
Wahh.. why i never know this mall. Tq jimmy i chang.
Somehow this journey looks fun. Thank you for the video iChang🎉🎉🎉.
Love from fans Malaysian
You can also get to Mines by Putrajaya Line MRT stop at Serdang Selatan or Serdang Raya station, there is a free bus, or a short grab ride away.
Miss to see ichang cooking Malaysian dish
Glad you made this video. My friends & I used to go to the mines a lot when we were uni students. Seeing u guys taking the same path like we did from serdang station to the mines really nostalgic to me. I miss the mines & the memories with my friends there 😊
Oh memories.. I love going there during Big Bad Wolf bookfare 😍😍
I remember being here once when I was a kid. Looking at the cruise and lake. It was during school holidays in fasting month.
Hope you make a vid enjoying our bazaar ramadhan ❤
If you go through some mystery stories of the lake, your trip will be more fun😂
the Leong Ya (Daughter) restaurant is famous for their paper wrap chicken. Original one (father) is also same area.
Always waiting 4 your new videos.❤❤❤
They have many type of fish in the lake since they also use the lake for Fishing tournament sometimes. There's also africa catfish as big as jimmy. Last time can see inside the mall as well. Its old mall. The lake actually a tin mines. Avery big mines... that's why its call mines shopping mall. It was rebranded on 2010. They also have mines wonderland last time. That was longgggggg time ago. I don't know mines wellness and spa still open or not. Haven't been to the area for a long time. Use to be my go to mall before the IOI Putrajaya open.
Wahhh...feels so nostalgic (even tho' I've never been myself 😄).
Wish I could've seen iChang & Jimmy do a micro-Jalan Jalan of Ampang Park (R.I.P. 😌). Sungei Wang (where Jimmy met nice massage Uncle) remains a sentimental favourite!
41:40 those are bawal piranha yes its a type of piranha but its not dangerous like those amazon piranha its actually a very tasty fish to be eaten
I used to go to this mall growing up the water in the mall used to be more clear and you could see a lot of koi fishes but now it's soo green
マレーシア出身なのにthe minesに行ったことない。今回は行って見ようと思います
We really enjoy this video
I grow up going to this mall as its the nearest. Every birthday we go eat at dominos and seat near the canal view.
that Japanese song at the end, isn't it quite furui? like from the 70s or 80s? saikin many young japanese loves to sing old songs like that in karaoke ne.
Kebetulan betul. Baru je jalan-jalan Mines shopping center minggu lepas
Nk Tanya hotel palace tu dah tutup ka
i used to date my wife back in Mines in year 2005-2006, back then i believe it is already built 2-3 yrs.Almost Similar time when Putrajaya was built.
WOW! u pass by one of the legendary yong tau foo in Seri Kembangan! LOL
Othello!😂Jaken pon! 😂Classic games on my Nintendo.❤❤❤Retro!
ichang look so cute looking around before pushing the disappoint emote on the machine😂😂😂😂
This is an old ass shopping mall. I remember I was here during 2011 as a kid. It's crazy
😂😂😂Jimmy is so funny.
👍👍👍✌️
Looking at the comments it seems like this mall brings mixed feelings? I need to go there to see for myself lol
woah I didn't know that there's shortcut way (not really that short but still better) to The Mines! last time I came there also walking from KTM until that Heritage apartment and then I got clueless. because I'm alone at that time so I just call Grab to bring me to The Mines.
Also you guys both looks very cute in this video, so funny joking around like expressing your innerchild & teenage couple vibe >_
90s vibes ❤
The Mines definitely memorable to me when i was first year uni student joining gathering taking trains to walk and reach. Hope you both had fun travelling around ! 😂
can’t wait to watch ur bazaar vlog this ramadhan!
Very nice
They sing miki matsubara song very well.
The Mines, been there long2 time ago when the Ice House was a special attraction.
You should try the nasi lemak ayam merah at bungkus kaw kaw, and teh tarek ais with cincau.
Bestnya
Travel further, you'll reach Kajang station, try the famous Sate Kajang. Sate Kajang Hj Samuri just infront the station.
I'm just went there during study in 1997/98. Even now actually living just around, quite long time not go in there..😅
Surprised i Chang n Jimmy able to find the tunnel passage way to the Mines Mall. Its quite hard to find if u are not familiar with the place. Also that fish in the lake I think are "ikan patin" aka shark catfish
Great episode... chilling, laid back pace of sweet memories in the making. 😊 Btw, whn a food is laksa flavoured, it literally means the normal santan/coconut laksa unless thy mention assam laksa. These r the two basic well-known laksa base. Those laksa claimed by different states/country r just different by their ingredients n way thy r made n prepared according to the individual locality. Laksa is not exclusive to malaysia alone, there r variations all the way frm singapore to indonesia.
The ending beautifully
good video
In all honesty, this mall looks so trippy…..really bizarre! Food looked terrible at that laksa burger place, what a waste of money and stomach space. I find that malls just don’t have great authentic local food representation. One can find fantastic local food at malls in Indonesia or Thailand, but Malaysia malls just don’t have anything that good. The real amazing Malaysian food is always found outside malls. You are brave people to eat there! Looking forward to your next exploration! 😊
A lot of us (especially the young ones) are making a lot of noise to our MPs to make the Klang Valley/Greater KL more walkable with more extensive bus routes. I hope in the next 5-10 years at least the Klang Valley will be much more pedestrian and public transport friendly. We are tired of having to go everywhere with a car!
Ochanomizu of Malaysia
Last time i take the taxi ride it takes me to the other side of the lake where is to get there u need to go through an elevated canal. Not sure now they provide those service or not.
I studied at UPM Serdang..this video reminds me so much of my past..Huhuhuhu
long ago in that mall, they have ice skating rink (cheaper than sunway pyramid) and laser tag game
That very big fish. Its from phirana family but its not like phirana. We called it ikan pacu.
It's embarrassing how Malaysia has such bad pedestrian infrastructure, hopefully they can improve over time
Thank you for showing another gem in Malaysia. Really enjoy your blogs, it always feel like I m actually jalan jalan with you both. By the way you both look
like newly weds on your honeymoon. lol
Great episode as usual! Am feeling hungry now seeing you guys eat haha
Salam Ramadhan everyone..
That stressful machine 🤣🤣🤣 now u know why the guy before u press "disappointed" 😂😂
LOL . I didnt even knew this Mall still alive huhu.. last time i came here like 20 years ago .. the only thing i remember is the river XD
