Hey mate. I tried this but the blank seemed to continuously offgas during the lamination/hot coat stages. Did you find that at all? Lots of tiny bubbles 🥲
Hey, how small are the bubbles? is it gas coming out of the PU? Maybe the PU foam needs to cure a few days before lamination? I haven't had any issues with lamination but i have had tiny almost microscopic bubbles/dots show up on some of my hot coats, never considered offgassing could be the reason, now you got me thinking..🤔
@@HANDIY yeah, tiny microscopic bubbles, just big enough to stick a needle in them. I left one blank for 2 weeks and had the same issue so not sure. Perhaps there's another way to fully cure them?
@@Whitburn.Surfboards interesting always thought it was my epoxy mix. Would that make the board absorb water through the holes? the boards i've made dont seem to take on water... Surfboard specific PU mix is hard to find unless you buy barrels of the stuff. Are you also using US composites PU?
@@HANDIY I think it's co2 being released from the foam, but I could be wrong. I think so yes, although if the blank is outgassing then it would stop water getting in. If you went and put a drop of water over the pinholes on your board you could quickly tell whether it's still outgassing or not by observing a small air bubble. Just a thought!
I had a card failure and lost all the mold making footage, that's why i never made an instructional video on it. But we recently tried molding without wax paper just using a demolding agent and we glued the mold shut, the mold was impossible to open up and ended up destroying it with a hammer and a pick. So i'm going to make a new one at some point. I'll document the process again. Cheers
Sick! Very underrated channel
Pretty rad
Ingenious mold making method. What’s the black, unidirectional carbon fiber?
Very Nice, what density does The poured foam end up in?

Sick! Do you have any instructions on making the mold?
