Also something to note around Mighty Car Mods: we are normal guys and are not trained mechanics. We like to make interesting car mods and show you how we've gone about it, but we can't promise that anything we show you will work for your particular car, or that you won't harm yourself, someone else, your car or your warranty doing it. Please be safe, be responsible and unless you know what you're doing, do not fool around with very serious machinery just because you've seen us make it look so easy. Talk to a qualified mechanic if you are in any doubt.

this is the exact reasons iPad's were invented actually, Steve Jobs told us.
It's funny how I've seen all MCM episodes, and now that I curbed my wheel on my civic, I now have to come back to watch the tutorial! Love being able to laugh while fixing my car!
hot tip for serious players: If it's raining, you aint painting. The added moisture in the air mixes with the paint as it is sprayed. The result is 'ghosted' paint, that has a milky look. If you don't have a choice and MUST spray in the rain, set up a bar heater and a fan inside, wait for the room temp to rise to about 20 degrees c and then give it a crack. I'd wait though, the best jobs are done on mild, clear days with low humidity.
I know this is an old comment but I live in the UK and it is pretty much always high humidity with a chance of rain, worst part is I don't even have a garage just a driveway so I am very limited on doing this.
@@JayHowi that sucks man
i lost my shit when that brick came out
divizionx Did you shit bricks?
+divizionx i lost my brick when the shit came out...
+divizionx I'm not sure but ,if anyone else wants to learn about best way to spray paint a car try Alkarno Spray Paint Alchemist (just google it ) ? Ive heard some decent things about it and my mate got great results with it.
😂
FUCK ME...
Never guttered wheels before, got 19s for my new Mazda3 and guttered one today.
Fuck me right in the ass
Lol...
***** No homo
Bruno Danese Yup same feeling. Never properly guttered a wheel before. Had to swerve to avoid a van in my lane the other day and hit a small concrete kerb hitten in a grass verge doing 80mph (120km/h). Ripped a chunk out of the tyre and fucked my alloy :(.
Is it fixable?
Feel for you manz
Bruno Danese Alloy isnt that bad to be honest. Badly scraped but still useable. Car is booked in tomorow for 2 new front tyres though for £200 -.-
I love when you guys want to fix somthing but there is nothing broke so you just wreck it xD. Like when you *fixed* the blue turd bumper.
congrats on your growth in Mighty Car Mods. i remember always watching your youtube vids on buying old used cars, cleaning them, modified, and test them. Now you both have expanded your shows, congratulations. I will be looking forward for more vids.
This is forever old, but you guys just saved me like $600 getting my Crown rims redone. fkn amazing.
i have tons of these on my car, and i just found this. SO Glad! thanks MOOG and MARTY!! this is MAAAAAAADDDDD
marty car moogs
And i thought i was the only one. That and marty car mods
Every time.
you guys are brilliant. i curbed my wheels, took it to get refurbished but not paint.
now i can paint it with no worries! nz prices are crazy. just because i have nice wheels don't mean you can overcharge me like that...i got a quote from this place, costing me about $369nzd for wheel repair and paint.
thxs for saving me a shit load of money
1. Filler primer is basically thin bog in a can thats easy to apply, good for really light scratches that don't need lots of filling, it also promotes adhesion of the top coat (being a primer)
2) We've covered this in Season 3 Episode 10, but basically sand the whole wheel back, repair any damage as we did in this video, then primer, let it dry fully and then base coat and clear.
1:53 "there is no dent on the turd" the remake
So what would you use for machined silver rims?
Hey I just wanted to say thanks for the lesson! I was able to pick up a sick set of wheels for dirt cheap because one wheel had been curbed and the owner thought it was a worthless set. Well I followed your video and now have a sweet set of wheels! Cheers!
Lucky
Well done guys a really clear explanation of how to get your wheels looking like new.
Just one little niggle, you really don't need the opening montage. You guys are so good I'd just cut to the chase. My 2c worth
Hey mcm, what about clearcoated aluminum alloy wheels
Moog has to get his rim repaired after too many skids...
I have no idea how I missed this episode until I heard about it today from your Facebook post. I really need to do this!
Watched when this video came out, watching it again in 2020. Saved me hundreds if not more on these Enkei RSV I got.
My dad totally fucked my wheels when he tried to put them on the tire himself instead of paying $32 for Les Schwab to do it. If it were a nicer car I would try and fix it. But who gives a fuck about a Saturn.
+roberij05 $32? My local tire shop mounted my tires for 5 bucks a wheel
Kasey Coser $8 a wheel. Plus the cost of putting them on the new tires, PLUS the coast of balancing them. Tight with money, gotta do what you gotta do.
I meant they charged me 5 bucks to mount the tires to the wheel, my bad. I put my wheels back on the car myself. Yeah balancing is probably the bulk of the cost I didn't think to include that.
True on the DIY thing but I personally wouldn't try to mount tires unless I had the hardware and knowhow
Kasey Coser No, what I meant was they would have charged me to take them off the steelies, and onto the aluminium wheels. That would have bee $62 dollars, plus the balancing.
It was some cheap thing from harbour freight. cheap mettle snapped by the final wheel.
+roberij05 I pay 15 (Because I have 15 inch Wheels, but you can pay 10 for smaller ones) at my local place. With that I get balancing, putting on car, and the dude can drive it up to my home (5 km away).
hahahah, that brick action, ROFL! Crazy auzzies!
We don't have a release schedule but they come out every 2-3 weeks with videos in between on MCMTV2 and the magazine coming out every 8 weeks or so. We want to do as many as we can but as we both work full time jobs we only shoot on weekends. Cheers.
a MCM Video thats new ( or unseen ) always makes my day soo much better!
does anybody know if bog has a different name here in Britain? i cant seem to find it, any help would be superb
Body filler
+Marty Cannon thank you
In the US we call it Bondo (took me a moment when watching to have it click that is what they were using).
Bond is just a specific brand, however most likely the most popular. He just needs to ask for autobody filler.
Why is this video age restricted? lol..
Bloody awesome fellas, just scraped the mags on my Falcon. With this video, I've got it sorted next weekend; thanks fellas.
hey. i'm a tyre fitter. (currently my first job) 15y/o. When you go and get your tyres changed. they will take that weight off and the old paint will still be there and you will have a darker mark once that weight has been removed! anyway awesome episode. just catching up on the episodes ive never gotten to see!
This one doesn't have any scuffs... (breaks out the brick).
Need a solution? First find (or make) a problem.
#martycarmoogz
Lmfao
That's how it's always worked with Moog. Take the blue turd's 'dented' front wing, courtesy of Moog's foot.
bog.... the 1st time I heard you guys say that I was like wtf? we just call it body filler in the states, or as a general term, bondo
yup
Bog in English speaking countries.
@@banjopete never in England
That rain was heaps fun in Feb/Mar. Didn't stop me from doing auto to manual conversion on my Falcon though.
Top show boys!
Checking for new vids every day. Can't get enough! Much love from the US
I curbed my 19'' on my soarer :(
It's been a week and I've been heart broken since then. 😢
same issue, same car but 18's...
No point in fixing it. Car still runs fine.
Magma Dick what do you mean no point in fixing it? Didn’t you watch this video and see how easy it is?
Wont the wheels have like different weights
you would take it to the tyre fitting place and they would put weights on the wheel to level it out
Honestly, its so little weight, it shouldn't effect it that much.
We use iBooks to view it on our devices. Just download the PDF, then drag it into iTunes Books on your device via computer and it will appear on you iBooks shelf.
One thing to remember is when sanding, you need to make sure that you use low grit sand paper before you apply the filler, otherwise it will not adhere correctly. I believe most fillers require ~40-180 grit to apply. Also, good call on the tile, porous materials like cardboard and wood are not good for mixing filler because they hold silicone and other impurities that ruin the filler and cause pinholing.
Dem feels when you scrape your tyre :'( the relief when you know it wasn't metal ^_^
dem feels when u see a phat ass and while taking a turn look at the ass and scrappeeeee. O shit fuckkkkkk!!! omfg that was my good wheel! it was only in front cause i rotated fuck!!! get out and look and see from a perfect wheel to deep chunk missing all spokes scratched and the lip all scratched lol. o well fuck it.
^ummmm... Well that's one way of looking at it.
Just curbed my left front wheel on my new golf r... my heart is still bleeding
Hansen Wang i curbed my dad's mb wheel... My nose is bleeding
TopsiDian lol
Mighty car mods use are just so awesome. Keep up the good work, so keen to see what's in store for the future. Take care guys.
marty's reaction to moogs intro is hilarious. just about kept it together.
I'm feeling a tiny bit better watching that after doing it bloody twice in one night
Lol don't worry I did it 13 days after I got it new killed me
I just park farther away from the curb
+krillerdk123321 yeah depends on where I am
+Alex 99 Legacy California suck just try and not care any car you get will have small key marks small door dents and if you are lucky it will not get hit the and insurance will not cover it I pay 250$ on every claim but I do pay 350$ insurance worth it to many angry ppl and your car takes the hits or keys
I did that to protect my rims but my side mirror got smashed :\
Luke, I am your further.
@centOAF. FARTHER you fool, twice the fuckup.
Can't believe i am watching this again like 12 years later, yes the show has chganged but also, it hasn't... thank you guys
Just the video I needed!
From 5:40 - 6:00, exactly what happened to me while I was for some reason gazing into the sunset while driving, then transitioning back into reality with the high pitched squeal of my alloys scraping the kerb!
I just plastidipped over my scuffs lol
Who else is here in the future... again...?
classic mighty car mods for ever lads
Amazing budget fix!!!! I would never thought of using body filler to repair rims. I don't have the $$$ to have my rims repaired by a pro and figured I'd just have to live with the scatches.
i could watch your shows for hours i love your guys show
Highlight of every week. NEW MIGHTY CAR MODS EPISODE!
Wow close to 400,000 views! How have they not been approached to make their own TV series!
Good work boys :)
i saw this video when it first came out, today i hit a huge curb:( my heart broke. first time ever. gonna fix this tuesday! thanks guys!
Throwback in 2018! Good old classic MCM
That garden hose reel turned extension cord reel is mad
I think this one is actually my favourite, very professionally done :)
I'm glad you guys made this vid because I let my friend drive my subaru today and he hit the curb at like 35 MPH
missed you guys! i might just have to watch all your vids over again
Wow that's actually amazing I wouldn't have thought that body filler would work. TY for the DIY guys!
long day of school but a new mcm makes up for it!!
@mighty car mods Just wondering, does it cause an unbalance in the wheel when using body filling or bondo to fix the bumps on the tims? since they have different density and it will slightly add more weight on to it.
FINALLY !!!!! Thank you I have been waiting for an episode like this now I can fix my rims and it's going to look MAAAAAD!
omg love you guys i was looking for videos yesterday on gutter rashes but didnt see you guys make a video on one so i was sad but now im happy yay. you guys can read my mind
It's a good trick this one and I've done this before a few times but instead of painting my rims I had them powder coated.
I hav the same wex rims just pickd dem up from a used parts lot for 150 for the set wit tires n a 3 of dem hav curb rash n chunks out of dem gna do this shortly
i actually refreshed my youtube endlessly when they announced a new ep on facebook
It doesn't generally matter how much you use, to a certain extent. Depends entirely on manufacturer specification. U-Pol use a 2:100 ratio on most products, where personally I put in more, to speed up the hardening process. Although, if you do use too much, the properties of the filler will alter and become much more likely to crumble crack. The mixing ratio he has used looks perfect to me.
I have 2 alloy wheels that are bent and cracked from a wreck. There's about a gallon of bead sealer in each one. Anything I can do or should I just go to a yard and pull some wheels off another car?
Hey MCM, do you have a basis of when you create your videos or do you make them when you feel like making them? I love them so much, it actually makes my dad seeing a new MCM video.
Thank You I've Been Wondering How I Was Gon' Fix My Guttered Damaged Wheel On My 1986 Stock Iroc-Z Camero Thanks Man
How would the bog holds up to powder coating the wheel? I would like to repair my wheels but also powder coat them as well... thanks
Love it! works brilliantly and it's portable.
how do you find a colour to match the specific colour of your rims? mine look the same colour as the one in the video...
FINALLY! Just a shoutout to you guys, thanks for all the great videos :). I only have one complaint, i live in the U.S. where turbo'ed cars are hard to come by, could you guys do some mods to naturally aspired engines too?
The half cut has not arrived in Sydney yet. As soon as it does we'll be hacking, modding and exploding until we have crammed into a new ride and made a kick ass video for you guys! We're as hungry to do it as you guys are to see it! We'll keep everyone updated on the MCM Forum!
How did that end up going boys? ;)
Sweet! Getting that magazine!!! You guys are epic!
Finally, this has been the best day since the 12th of March!
have yall tested this on a tire machine? i could imagine that the duct head would totally destroy the edge work
I am totally going to have to do this, have had bits of enamel missing from my rims first years.
Does that body filler bondo on the rim edge get damaged when a tire pulling machine takes off the old tire?
Good ole mcm for when your bored binge watch :D
absolutely love the magazine, and the vids. keep it coming guys!!!
Hey all, got a quick question.
I was wondering if anyone knows what the best kind of bog is? About to repair some rims and not to sure where to start.
Cheers
What if my rims are Aluminum and powder coated gunmetal? Will paint from autozone still make an even match? Also, is the material you're using safe for aluminum?
yeap the liquid metal filler you use straight out of the tube as it hardens out in the open using air as the hardener, but bog comes with the body filler plus a tube of hardener. No probs any questions just ask,
what bog do you guys use? i just bought those same rims from a local wrecker
Blair must be a big fan of Filter - this intro song reminds me of "I Will Lead You" off Filter's self titled masterpiece back in the day
I've learned some new lingo watching these guys.
@ Xula it'll only add the weight that was lost through kerbing and scratching the wheel so you're fine, lol, plus I doubt filler is heavy enough to reck stability.
Nothing like watching The Golden Girls and MCM to wake up in the morning!
mind if i ask... what's that red thingy you put on your Kahfil?
What about on brushed aluminum rims how do i paint em
This is an awesome idea, and just in time. I'm buying new rims and idk if im ganna need to do this. thanks MCM! :D
What grade sandpaper did you guys use?
I went to autobarn and supercheap auto to get some body filler to do this on my wheels and they both told me not to since it will offset the wheels. I was looking at the "light filler", not the metal or fibreglass. Can you give me your opinion concerning this
Great video! Do you guys have a tutorial on doing this to chromes wheels?
I have black wheels with a chrome silver rim, which has hefty gutter damage, as well as corrosion of the chroming.
I assume that as it is chrome, it won't be an easy home fix!
Thanks
Coming home to find this new ep...AWESOME! :D
Can you do basically the same thing to a cracked/ broken plastic bumper?
Watching Moog smash a brick on that alloy actually made my day haha!
Marty almost lost it with Moogs intro. Love it!
No probs, the brands I reccomend are
Permatex for the liquid metal filler, it's in a 3.5 fl.oz tube, can be sanded, drilled painted etc should be able to get it from any auto store (but just google it so you know what the pack looks like first)
as for the body filler any good brand of lightweight body filler like 3M will do, The best way to do it is when you mix it for the rim's is a golf ball size bit of bog to a pea size bit of hardener that combination always works best
