I'd be very interested in seeing reviews of that 15" ported subwoofer in such a relatively small cabinet. I imagine the port is mostly there to help keep distortion and excursion lower in that last half octave. And also that a down-firing port will help with port-chuffing from what looks like a pretty small port for the tuning/size
Thank you for your professional reviews. I am faced with the choice of purchasing a REL T/9x and a 23-year-old ELAC Varro RS700 model. I've been reading and watching reviews for several months. Was it possible to compare both? I'm only interested in music, not movies. I will be very grateful for your answer. (Alexander)
They look cool, probably sound great. My only reservation would be getting a sub that uses an app. If the company that makes the sub chooses to neglect or kill the app. You may not be able change the volume and crossover....essentially owning a boat anchor.
If the app was on your phone, it would still work. And in todays world, almost all subs have some kind of app, and they will likely all go that way as a side benefit to an mfg is it reduces the parts on the back of the sub
@@AudioAdvice thanks for the comment. Though one of your statements is definitely not correct. I've been in the audio game for about 30 years and have three rigs at my place. I do constant research on the internet daily on audio equipment. If we summed up all subwoofer manufacturers most do not have an app. Yes I agree it's starting to go that way but if we summed up all of the subwoofers made most do not have a app at this point.
Unsupported apps only work so long depending on what changes apple or google make on their OS updates. So in theory you could eventually lose the ability to use an app if its not vibing with whatever new restriction may be in place… of course you could just not update your phone and see how far that gets you. Also I hope the app is better than their website, it’s horrifically slow.
The Prices are just of the roof for an Made in China Product and without even an include dedicated Measurement Software & Mic. The App EQ Settings are just not consequent enough. The are not many Companys who build overly fair priced subwoofer concepts. A few of them are Genelec and Neumann with included software where you set everything up perfectly incl microphone. More attractive options is DIY and something like miniDSP & Trinnov as Pre Amp
Love more focus on BK SUBS thy make subs we all know REL and by hand. I had sub BK XXKS400 many years go and was super. To bad i sold him now i got SVS SB-2000 pro
I had one of this (rs500). Its not so powerful as on the paper and really bad quality amp inside. At idle its making annoying 150-… hz noise! Returned it back.
I've never personally looked at ELAC as a player in subs, but these definitely look interesting. Will check them out!
Hope you enjoy!
Love of the hexagon design on the Reference and Dual Reference Series!
Thank you, they were super fast too
Great review. Seems like ELAC is really stepping up their subwoofer game!
Yes they are!
doesnt look like a stepping up. There a few things thats missing
The Varro DS1200 dual-cone sub in black gloss will be part of my next upgrade to a new 2.1 system ☺

They were very impressive. Thanks for watching

but ... is the 1000ds really worth FIVE times an RSL Speedwoofer...? why not two RSLs and a minidsp for half the price of one ds1000?
Could you tell me how the DS1000 compare to the KC92? Thank you!
Please reach out to our team at www.audioadvice.com to discuss those two. Thank you for watching
Got 4 of these in my gaming room they will beat you to death and sound great with my RCA speakers

Sorry to hear about that. We haven't had issues with ours but thanks for the feedback.
