Well that was a successful event Ian. I had planned on popping on myself but my mother randomly visited so i had to do as i was told. 😂 Thanks for the video.
It was great to get a few UK stations on 10m FM. Previous to yesterday I had only managed Euro skip and into the states. My furthest was MW0PJE/P Peter at Moel y Gamelin SOTA GW/NW-042. From Just north of Cirencester that was 98 miles. Used a SS6900n 10/11m radio with a T2LT, just 21 Watts. I couldn't make it back to DX Commander Callum though even though he was only half that distance away, he just didn't hear me even though he was S4 on my meter.
Great job Ian. I was up at the Cat and Fiddle but conditions not so good. Like you, had good chats and we should definitely do this again. Well done mate.
Well done. You did much better than I did, went mobile up to some higher ground 673 feet ASL (East Midlands) but only got one contact. Heard nothing back at the QTH on the Solarcon A99, noise floor of S6. Still, good to participate. 73 👍🏼
Yes, definitely! I usually do quite well at that location on the SSB part of 10, just using a mag mount and 25w. Conditions didn’t seem too good on Saturday though. Good dx to you, 73.
I was out, but couldn't hear any of the amigos, I was a little compromised tho.... A q, FTDX10 or the 5000MP? I am wondering about a b/day present to myself and the 10 looks nice for the shack! Shhhh keep it under your hat, don't tell the finance officer/auditor!! Cheers, G
Hell, I always seem to miss these events and I was free today too. Good to see you get some contacts in a lovely part of the world, I could have worked you from just North of Bridlington too. Curious to know what those signals are that streak across the waterfall, seen them often always wondering what they are.
Maybe next time Steve 👍🏻 Those signals (pair) are an ionosonde. It’s a radar system which measures the reflectivity of the ionosphere. They send signals out at ever increasing frequencies and measure the response as it goes up and up all the bands.
Don't drive under any low bridges. Actually, don't drive under ANY bridges. My partner worries when I have the 40" dual band on the car roof. I must show her this - and yes I realise you don't actually drive around like that, but she may not. 😁 Glad you got some good contacts there. Just stumbled across your channel by chance. British guy in the western US just about to take my Technician and General license exams. Maybe catch you out there by some miracle of propagation :)
Never tried 10m FM. Do the signals appear on waterfall like SSB signals? Currently 10m is the best DX band for me, working European stations. But yet to get a UK station! 73 de Jon, VU2JO
I wish i had know it was on i would have been on would have used ic705 50w amp and 5/8wave virtical dipole from 4 miles north of carlisle maybe next time chris G0WFH

Ha ha, yes Neil. Do as yer told! Bands were well down which was a shame.
Love the setup Ian! Looks like you had some great contacts! 10FM was pretty dead in my neck of the woods. I guess the height really does help! Cheers
Yes a bit of height Matt. Nice to have decent weather for a change too 😁
Slick setup with the bike rack, and looks like it was a fun day out. Thanks for the ride-along Ian, 73. 👍
Yes, good fun and now I know I can mount at least a single band antenna anywhere the car can go 👍🏻
Nice antenna setup and well done on the run of QSO's Ian. 73 Chris M0RSF
Thanks Chris! Hopefully the band will play ball next time 👍🏻
Fair play for getting out there Ian. Good fun and decent WX for a change!
Yes, good WX Ady, just no propagation 🙄
Nifty idea with bike rack, well done Ian
Thanks Alan. Had it ages, just never got round to using it 👍🏻
Wow. you did better than me - but I also had Turkey and Crete. Needed to be higher I think.
Yes, no DX up my way Callum 🙄
You did really well Ian👍 BTW good stuff on the Battery, worth every penny👍
@@alzag6hpr553 Thanks. Yes, enjoying the battery 👍🏻

Still, that’s good going on 21W 👍🏻 Shame the band didn’t play ball…
Hi Ian. Sounds like you had a blast. Well done. Wasn't able to get in the air today. Fingers crossed for next time.

@ianxfs Ah, thanks for that Ian, every day's a school day as they say.
No probs 😀
Grand job Ian. 👍
Thanks Adam 👍🏻

Yes Jon, just the same. Try calling on 29.600 👍🏻
@@ianxfs Someone from US told me on QRZ forum that it is the FM frequency on 10m. Shall try tomorrow when the band is open for SSB and CW.
@@johnsonstechworld yes and remember to QSY down to a simplex channel 29.100 to 29.200 in 10KHz steps. Have fun 👍🏻
@@ianxfs So that is a call channel like what we have here on 145.5 MHz for VHF! Thanks for the info!
Looks good
Thanks!
Good job Ian.
Thanks Brian. Shame the band didn’t play ball 🙄
Heard nothing down here in the far Southwest :-(
What a shame. The band was very poor mind 👎🏻
@@ianxfs So I gathered from watching some of Callum's live stream. At least you managed some contacts and achieved your 10 on 10,👍
Yes 😁
What was the furthest contact made? Did you make 100 miles?
Ooo, not sure. Will have to check.
FM ? If I had known I would have got my handy out lol.
Next time maybe 😀
