Great video, love you guys. I might consider a small modification to the beach wagon, with PVC pipe attached to the back of the wagon and leaving an ice chest in the wagon for weight, would allow you to drop a antenna mast in the PVC pipe for support. No hammering or throwing lines in trees. I have a similar setup using a 33' fiberglass kite pole. Keep up the great videos
Hey Chuck...I am a newbie and look forward to beginning POTA...the cart idea you have is superb.. I have a metal cart (Gorilla cart) that is about the size they show here. I will look at a similar setup. I presume the metal would not interfere with radio? Thanks.
New radio - IC-7300 nice! You'll enjoy that. Let me know if you're interested in a couple of my shirts, I can send them out to you to wear on activations
Really enjoy your videos. As a retired aviator, ham, and Costco share owner, you two add great value to the amateur radio community and provide a small return to my investment!
It looks to me that the first thing one needs to do POTA is a very thick wallet. Which will quickly flatten out. If you want to make a small fortune, start out with a large one!
I said several times that you only need a radio, a battery, some coax, and an antenna. Oh, and something to write on. The point was to show people different options so we dragged out everything we owned…
Always enjoy your videos. Your fun is contagious. I enjoy POTA and only do portable activations so I'm starting to do more multi-day camping and POTA activations.
Good instructions. Plastic seal for the pluck foam on the harbor freight works well to make it a little more permanent. There are videos about it. Keep them coming 73
Wow.. you guys have ALL the equipment and fun toys to play ham radio.. I want to come and play in your sand box.. LOL... Great vid.. very informative and entertaining.. I like the tripod.. What a fun video! XYL and I have the same wagon from Costco. And um, Katie I heard your low snicker at 12:20. Something about pointing up in the air 🙂. Looking forward to the rest of the series. Love the ideas, keep them coming. Bernie K4JDF
I’d checkout the kelty loveseat low at REI to get a feel for it in person. I think it’s great. Like that it’s low close to the fire pit . Real relaxing like . But if your knees don’t like low seating the regular love seat is nice too just a bit bigger of a carry .
also i just moved from florida , to ohio, and it sucked, one of the weird things i found about living in central florida was it would rain every day at 4-ish pm, but weirder than that it would fake you out all the time, cuz they have weird clouds in florida, they look like they are gonna rain all the time, but they NEVER do, they just shoot lightning all over the place for 2 hours and then they go away, lol every night was like that in summer i think
i really wish i had been born a regular type human being and not whatever i ended up being, i wish i would have made friends like this, i think my life would have been better, now i sit in my tiny room with my dumb baofeng that cant pick up anything out here in the deep parts of ohio. cool video, it looks fun.
I wish I had a wife that liked to do ham radio! You are very lucky.
Big fun, love the fact your wife is so in to it as well… 73’s

Doesn’t need to be. A license, a small QRP rig, a battery, and some wire are all you really need.
thats alot of gear for pota! i keep it simple
