Welcome to a day in my life as a US Navy Sailor. I am on "shore duty" which means I will not deploy or go underway on a Naval ship. My last duty station was aboard the Carl Vinson and I deployed on a WESTPAC cruise.
I just wanted to say that the thoughts and opinions in this video are my own and do not reflect that of the US Navy or DOD. I say that because the Navy never asks me to make these videos nor do they ask me to share a specific opinion or statement.

all 4 of my parents ( including step) are in/ was in the navy and it helped me to want to go in the navy. my dad was in the navy for 20 years

@@bergzednik9053 I was a damage controlman. A few tips -1) get your own personal flash gear and mask (you'll see why once you get to your fleet) 2)-never give CS a hit on the fire marshal report (cooks make better friends than enemies) and 3) do NOT refuse to do the line crossing ceremony. (The shellback thing he showed, it sucks but its all in good fun) good luck, don't expect to be an actual firefighter though you'll constantly train to be one, its more preventative maintenence on systems, and i promise you you will never make closer friends than you do in the fleet. Bootcamp is easy if you can just zone out, DO DO DO all the stuff they offer im DEP to become an e-2 and e-3 before you go in if possible (9 months for each adds up though the enlisting 2 other ppl is kinda crappy) and don't be too attached to sleep, the 8hrs a day you get in bootcamp is the most youll ever get. Watch sucks, probably the most and if you happen to get a horrible chief or POC know that there's some amazing ones in there. Don't gundeck unless you know you can get away eith it and san diego FTW! Every sailors experience is different, that’s a fact. Some might be Seabees working with soldiers or marines, some might be working shore duty, they’re all sailors in the end
Imagine being on a boat in the water during sunrise. That must look so nice.
Yeah it is pretty cool watching the sun rise and set. It's also nice going outside at night and seeing thousands of stars, and the milky way. Being out at sea, and is just enjoyable.
I worked once in an vinery in New Zealand and after a hard nightshift during harvest we went for an after work wineglas to the coast (which was on the property) for the sunrise!
Amazing! This is more than 10 years ago and i still remember the moment.

This contrasts dramatically to my years in the Navy. Worked days at a clinic [ HM ] at Parris Island, SC. Spent a lot of evenings cruisin and boozin, didn't give a shit about my skin care. 4 section duty. We burned the candle at both ends and cut it in half.

I really appreciate the quality that’s put in this day in the life video. I just made one the other day and it’s crazy to see how different each branch is. There’s been recent talk that the space force will take up Navy ranks opposed to Air Force ranks and that just passed the House. Anyway great content as always and keep on inspiring brother!

Just got out of the navy last month. I was an MA for the past four years, stationed on the Nimitz. So glad i got out. You won’t regret it.

My son finishes A school on Friday and will go to Virginia for 222 days to be trained for his Gunner's Mate job working on a Destroyer. Eventually be stationed at Yokosuka. Very happy that he chose the Navy

Am eager to enlist myself but I have to wait until I finish my invisalign treatment (braces) sometime this december.
The recruiter told me the same thing. Finish braces then with your retainers you can enlist. I just need to lose some weight and excercise

She's the most professional and nice people in the world. Her advice on skincare is simple, effective and reasonably good value. Her mindset is like a military civil. I am looking into getting into the navy but I have no idea what the navy does when you aren’t deployed
It depends on your rate, but typically you do alot of preventative maintence on your equipment and training. In port on ship its pretty much an 08-1600 hr day but depending on how big your ship is you stand duty about once a week, which means you spend the night on the ship for slightly more training and a watch but mainly cos the ship has to be manned 24/7. When you have a big ship qualification coming up though your working like 16hr days for month's, but that isnt too often. Imagine pretty much a factory job that owns you. They call your off time liberty for a reason. Oh if you aren't married or have kids your gonna live on the ship for awhile, too, but once you get your own kinda dorm like room life becomes pretty close to civilian life.

Yknow Austen, I’ve been interested in joining the US Navy. Braces and Weight are holding me back mostly, and you’re channel has been very eye opening. I just worry that a 28 yr old might not be very well received, hell the recruiter said the worst thing I’d get ragged on in basic is that the RDC might tell me I’ve fathered half the new recruits lol. Have you got a Vid on workouts that can help in PT? (Dumb question I know)
