This is one subject where Sam is absolutely right. Because I know the language I've read the comments of French people for many years. The French media and government try to hide this. Another relevant point is that these problems seldom occur when the Muslim population is small. This has been described as the "Trojan horse " phase. But once that population grows, that's when the serious problems occur.

The word עוֹלֵל, ʿôlēl which means 'Babe, infant, little one, a suckling' occurs 21 King James Bible Verses Of these verses:
“Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones.” -Psalm 137:9
“Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.”-1 Samuel 15:3
“Therefore I am full of the fury of the LORD; I am weary with holding in: I will pour it out upon the children abroad, and upon the assembly of young men together: for even the husband with the wife shall be taken, the aged with him that is full of days.”
      -Jeremiah 6:11
“Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up.”
      -Hosea 13:16
The other verses are not much different. Infact it is always in association with violence. Indeed these verses are the reason why in the Crusades the sense of pious rejoicing at massacre does not appear to be the product of later theologizing; it is also found, in the account of the eye-witness Raymond of Aguilers:
“in the Temple and porch of Solomon, men rode in blood up to their knees and bridle reins. Indeed, it was a just and splendid judgment of God that this place should be filled with the blood of the unbelievers, since it had suffered so long from their blasphemies.” In fact, Raymond continues, “This day, I say, will be famous in all future ages, for it turned our labours and sorrows into joy and exultation; this day, I say, marks the justification of all Christianity, the humiliation of paganism, and the renewal of our faith.”
Another account by a chronicler and eyewitness-priest, Albert of Aachen, describes the killing of fleeing women, and depicts crusaders as:: “seizing [infants who were still suckling] by the soles of their feet from their mothers’ laps or their cradles…and dashing them against the walls or lintels of the doors and breaking their necks […] they were sparing absolutely no gentile of any age or kind.”The incoherence inherent in a stranger to Abraham calling the children of Abraham gentiles notwithstanding, this account evokes the very same Psalm 137:9 imprecation against Babylon, in Latin, “beatus qui tenebit et adlidet parvulos tuos ad petram.”
This is the polar opposite in the Quran in Surah Al-Tanwir, literally "The Englightenining" Surah, Aya 8-9, we have the death of a newborn is mentioned amongst the penultimate signs of the end of times, emphasizing the gravity of such an action. That child, now resurrected, is asked for what wrong doing was she murdered. This is to emphasize that she had done nothing wrong, for she had done nothing wrong and this is the day of retribution where those who omitted the evil are to be punished.
This is the polar opposite in the Qur'an, Surah Al-Baqara Aya 190, which exhorts to fight unbelievers and not be "Aggressors", in the commentary of what it means to be aggressors, this was stated Al-Hasan Al-Basri stated that transgression (indicated by the Ayah):
"includes mutilating the dead, theft (from the captured goods), killing women, children and old people who do not participate in warfare, killing priests and residents of houses of worship, burning down trees and killing animals without real benefit."
This is also the opinion of Ibn `Abbas, `Umar bin `Abdul-`Aziz, Muqatil bin Hayyan and others. Muslim recorded in his Sahih that Buraydah narrated that Allah's Messenger said: "Fight for the sake of Allah and fight those who disbelieve in Allah. Fight, but do not steal, commit treachery, mutilate, or kill a child, or those who reside in houses of worship."
It is reported in the Two Sahihs that Ibn `Umar said, "The Prophet forbade killing women and children."
بابتداء القتال أو بقتال من نهيتم عن قتاله من النساء والشيوخ والصبيان والذين بينكم وبينهم عهد أو بالمثلة أو بالمفاجأة من غير دعوة
"To kill those whom you were forbidden to from women, elderly, children and those whom betwixt you is a treaty or custom or by surprise or without cause"
-Tafsir Al-Zamakshari of the meaning of Aggressors in the Aya
More hadith from Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah:
"Do not kill the dwellers of monasteries"
"The prophet forbids the killing of women, children, and the elderly"
This is the polar opposite in the Qur'an, Surah Al-Anfal Ayah 61 in which even oath breaking deniers/unbelievers are allowed to sue for peace states if the unbelievers they ask for peace, give it to them.
The modifiable testament testament commands indiscriminate killing, genocide, plunder, mutilation, enslavement, or torture of enemies, including women, on the other hand.Surah Al-Baqara Aya 190 limits war to those who fight against Muslims, prohibits transgression, and implies respect for human dignity and life Indeed it is what precedes the famous "sword verse", always cited out of context.
God did bring down the Qur’an, Mohamed is his Messenger.

this is the context of the verses u quoted u ignorant
      qur'an (al thawba)
      chapter 9
      1. A declaration of immunity from God and His Messenger to the polytheists with whom you had made a treaty.
      2. So travel the land for four months, and know that you cannot escape God, and that God will disgrace the disbelievers.
      3. And a proclamation from God and His Messenger to the people on the day of the Greater Pilgrimage, that God has disowned the polytheists, and so did His Messenger. If you repent, it will be better for you. But if you turn away, know that you cannot escape God. And announce to those who disbelieve a painful punishment.
      4. Except for those among the polytheists with whom you had made a treaty, and did not violate any of its terms, nor aided anyone against you. So fulfill the treaty with them to the end of its term. God loves the righteous.
      5. When the Sacred Months have passed, kill the polytheists wherever you find them. And capture them, and besiege them, and lie in wait for them at every ambush. But if they repent, and perform the prayers, and pay the alms, then let them go their way. God is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.
      6. And if anyone of the polytheists asks you for protection, give him protection so that he may hear the Word of God; then escort him to his place of safety. That is because they are a people who do not know.
      7. How can there be a treaty with the polytheists on the part of God and His Messenger, except for those with whom you made a treaty at the Sacred Mosque? As long as they are upright with you, be upright with them. God loves the pious.
      8. How? Whenever they overcome you, they respect neither kinship nor treaty with you. They satisfy you with lip service, but their hearts refuse, and most of them are immoral.
      9. They traded away God's revelations for a cheap price, so they barred others from His path. How evil is what they did.
      10. Towards a believer they respect neither kinship nor treaty. These are the transgressors.
      11. But if they repent, and perform the prayers, and give the obligatory charity, then they are your brethren in faith. We detail the revelations for a people who know.
      12. But if they violate their oaths after their pledge, and attack your religion, then fight the leaders of disbelief-they have no faith-so that they may desist.
      13. Will you not fight a people who violated their oaths, and planned to exile the Messenger, and initiated hostilities against you? Do you fear them? It is God you should fear, if you are believers.
      14. Fight them. God will punish them at your hands, and humiliate them, and help you against them, and heal the hearts of a believing people.

This is so good to see, not the usual ignorant acceptance, nor the ignorant mistrust. This here is someone who dislikes the religion for what it is at a historical level. I used to like Islam, even seeing Charlie Hebdo as bad people, but now I have some understanding of the religion and I hate it. It’s the same inward and exclusive ideology as Nazism, just older, more widespread and with the ability to convince people it’s wrong to criticise it.
In some regards, the worst thing about any religion is not the bullshit contained within it, but the ability to justify it.

On the 7th, it is crucial to understand that there were no direct attacks on civilians, only collateral damage. Out of the 1148 total names on haaret dataset, 473 military and 675 were civilians.
Ratio of civilians to military personnel killed on the 7th was 1 . 4 : 1 - lower than any of the iTf "mowing" operations, which has a ratio of 7 : 1
According to UN OCHA data from 2008 to 2022; The collateral damage on the 7th was significantly lower than any of the ITf "mowing" operations, which had a ratio of 7:1 with 1,023 military personnel out of 6,541 total.
On the 7th, with 473 military (418 were iTf military personnel, 55 belonged to the police) out of 1148 total, the ratio of civilians to military personnel was a mere 1.4:1
When including all casualties, not just deaths, the collateral damage ratio of the "mowing" operations is a staggering 162:1
From the 161,233 accumulated civilian casualties over only 14 years of "mowing" operations.
A 162 :1 ratio means that for every 162 civillians, 1 military personnel is a casualty. The 7th had a ratio of 1.4:1, more than a hundred times lower.
The 473 are - 55 soldiers, 13 privates, 59 corporals, 200 sergeants (45 of whom were sergeant majors), 48 commanders, 32 lieutenants, 5 lieutenant colonels, 6 colonels, 37 officers, 10 inspectors, 6 intendents, and 2 Lance Corp. This was a military defeat, and they are taking it out on the rest.

They are following scripture, the word עוֹלֵל, ʿôlēl which means 'Babe, infant, little one, a suckling' occurs 21 King James Bible Verses Of these verses:

As for the Hebrews, the Torah provides a loophole for that too. Give the indentured man a wife (who is your slave too). After 7 years he will not want to abandon his wife and children, and you can offer him permanent enslavement in trade for him not losing his family.

    • @haroonhussein9770
      @haroonhussein9770 7 лет назад +3

i am a muslim . We know for a fact that the original Torah as revealed to Moses pbuh was lost when the jews were enslaved in Babylon. What replaced it was Rabbinical teachings some parts no doubt pieced together from memory of the original teachings and a great part being the insertion of self formulated teachings of the Rabbis. Therefore the texts have lost their coherence and morphed into a self serving cult from which emerged the Kaballah which turned judaism into a racist self serving cult. It is no wondert jews do not share nor proselytize their religion. It has lost the original universality it possessed when Moses pbuh received it and taught it. So much of the teachings became warped by human interference. The question of slaves and their treatment and the position of gentiles is a case in point. It can never be that God Almighty who created all human beings would discriminate in favour of the one against the other as far as human rights are concerned. Favouring a group by choosing them to take foward His message of guidance to all human beings is not the same as infringing of human rights by one over the other . This is just pure logic.

Sam Harris is either misinformed or he is deliberately lying. The Quran doesn't encourage slavery, it actually encourages freeing slaves at various places. For instance, it says: "And what will make you realize what ˹attempting˺ the challenging path is? It is to free a slave, or to give food in times of famine to an orphaned relative or to a poor person in distress, and-above all-to be one of those who have faith and urge each other to perseverance and urge each other to compassion. These are the people of the right."
Sam Harris isn't an expert on religion and it shows! He's not even a noob. He's completely uneducated when it comes to understands the nuances of islam. Slavery was a societal fact, and Islam came with laws to actually lessen the burden of slaves and make them respectable members of the society. That's why slaves were actually so attracted to Islam and were one of the first to convert to Islam. But slavery was such an integral fact of the world at that time that it couldn't have been banned. So freeing slaves was encouraged gradually in ordernto get rid of this problem, which, unfortunately, the western world got ride of quite late. :)

Ever heard of Arab slave trade? it's bigger in number of slaves and last longer than atlantic slave trade.
Slavery was comparatively recently outlawed in Oman (1970), Qatar (1952), Saudi Arabia, and Yemen (both in 1962).
      Surah al-Mu'minun:
"And they who guard their private parts Except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they will not be blamed"

shows what you 2 know about Islam.
Isis only showed up after years of bloody revolutions across the entire Arab world that happened after decades of dictatorial opression and censorship. Just for the record censorship is a sponsor for extremism as you can't talk someone out of extremist thoughts if neither of you can talk to begin with. Similar conditions in the west gave us things like Nazism, facisim communism, and the kkk. To name a few. You just have fought your way through them and are preaching from the high horse now.
Alqaida was created by the CIA to fight the soviets and it backfired right in the face of the Americans. And even then the version of Taliban that's in power now is eons milder than last time they were in power. Still horrid by all standards but way less so, it was hellish last time. Well they're in power now, what do you think denying the citizens of a country humanitarian aid because an extremist group is in power? Breed extremists that are way more extreme than the ones in power. The mess that's Afghanistan is 100% American responsibility. Here is a thought. Maybe they'll sort themselves out if you leave them sort themselves out. I whole heartedly believe the American govt has reason favour extremism there. It gives them a common enemy lest they tear themselves apart with all the polarisation. Even if they're not directly involved. It creates an "other" (but you know what this is a conspiracy theory. Natural reactionist forementioned about isis still applies)
Also we're over a billion. Heck we have nukes. We play a part in the value of the petrodollar. We lie dead in the centre of many intl trade routes. I don't really think that if we were all half that bad humanity as we know it would function in the slightest
If we were near that blood thirsty you wouldn't have smelled the Greek philosophy you use against us now. Because you would have burned it down in your dark day. De cart had books of al Ghazali in his library and direct corolations between their teachings exist. Despite Al ghazali dying long before decart was even born.
Islam is a realist religion that interacts and lives with the world. It never preaches from the high horse like buddism or even secular philosophy neither of which can even have anything resembling consistency with the acts of alot of their followers.
As for slavery and sex slavery, well it's not like you have your own house in order. There are alot more slaves nowadays than any other time in history. Even when america has been the policeman of the world since the 90s. We just use a term without all the baggage because you hate to admit it. Human trafficking is a thing.
And as it happens slavery historically has been the international institution. We're not the only ones that exist in the world and we acknowledge it. If a prophet came down today he won't be able to ban banking because of interest. Simply not possible. On the contrary for slavery a common discussion among islamic scholars was "could slaves rule countries as kings over free individuals?" Slaves got pay and were entitled to education and humane treatment. Many could buy their way out of slavery. And many did when slavery rules were implemented outside the western framework. The word slave in the Islamic dictionary resonates much closer with a full time paid house maid than anything resembling the animal cruelty that was western slavery. We didn't have plantations nor set slaves to die in silver mines. Even sex slavery still required momentary consent. And only prisoners of war could be enslaved. Because there were no international prisoner exchange systems. The enemy took prisoners from us and enslaved them. Well, we take prisoners too. Children born between a slave and a free person was automatically free.
If you'd do as little as slap your slave on the face the slave was free to go to a judge who would set him free despite the owner. And even after all of that Islam never regarded slavery as the norm. And we knew it hence why we never had a civil war or any economic shenanigans when banning slavery.
Islam time and time again highlights the importance that it's a bad institution. But one that simply won't go anywhere. So it takes a stance the west takes with some drugs. Better legalise it and regulate the shit out of it than it happens anyways in a horrific form
I'm sorry but Islam has a bit of a learning curve. And you seem not to even acknowledge that. And a post modern lens is just garbage for looking at anything older than it is. That's a fact

I know that Islam has a lot of positive elements. Such as:
1)Praying five times a day - Helps you to remember God
2)Fasting during the month of - Helps you to remember the poor
3)Paying Zakah (2.5% of your yearly income to charity) - Helps the poor
4)Hajj (pilgrimage)- Helps you to remember God
Thats all good but there is also a very negative side which most Muslims ignore simply because they are too biased and see things from only one perspective.
According to Sharia law, whose sources come explicitly from Hadith (sayings of the prophet Muhammad) and the Quran, those Muslims who leave their religion are to be killed, those who criticise or insult Islam are to be killed, homosexuals are to be killed, a woman's testimony in court is often counted as half as a man's testimomy which I think is just plain sexist, those who commit adultery are either to be whipped or killed depending on the situation, in some situations women can't even leave the house or travel without a male relative and others etc.
These laws may have worked well in the 7th century, but they sure as hell do not work now. There is hardly any freedom in Sharia governed countries. I know that too much freedom isn't good either for obvious reasons, but Sharia law restricts freedom to an absolute minimum.
All I'm saying is that people shouldn't be forced to believe in a religion just because their immediate family members believe in it. They should have the opportunity to share their views no matter how controversial, because that is a basic human right. They shouldn't feel pressured into believing something they don't want to believe. They should have an option, and if they then choose to remain Muslim, then that shows their true commitment to Islam.

    Working to transform oneself is
known as the inner Jihad, or inner

the term jihad in the context of
struggle in the way of God.
    In a famous hadith, Muhammad
( p.b.u.h.) was riding back to

when he commented, " Now we
are going to the greater jihad!"

Further outlawed is the practice of being born into slavery. Many conditions could free a slave for example not fulfilling a fast, lying under oath etc. The autobiography of the prophet peace be upon him shows us the practice of freeing slaves and the slave chooses to stay under the prophets guardianship over his blood father.

When you're a child you have heroes. They could be footballers, musicians, movie stars, literary characters, eminent individuals in academic fields. That image of your hero is a vital part of your identity, indeed it is psychologically crucial. This cannot be understated. Then you grow and learn that your heroes are flawed. This, too, is a vital component of growing. The key problem with Islam is that to its adherents their prophet is the moral exemplar for all times. But the rest of us know his biography, and while undoubtedly a spiritual man, undoubtedly a great man, it is inconceivable by any decent moral standard that Muhammad can be considered anything close to a good role model. A 54 year old man having sex with a 9 year old girl, while he already has c.10 wives. How that was acceptable then beggars belief. But even today, while deep down surely Muslims know this is flat wrong, they cannot conceive any blemish on the image of their hero. Is anything I have said not valid? And this is why Islam, while it may have many good things going for it, ultimately is infected with a poisonous contradiction. The proof is in the eating of the pudding: they are at war with Jews, Christians, Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, atheists... and it is never their fault.

First off, id like to say that you couldn’t just abolish slavery 1400 years ago. If you thought of doing that 300 years ago you would’ve Been lynched here in the states. Also the word slave in way too intense for these type of people back in the day. They were treated as workers that were paid and given the equality as the master. Understanding equal equality as the master wouldn’t make sense but it had to back then as you were not allowed to look down on your worker as they were equal to you. It says your supposed to give them the same type of food you ate. Also the workers you wanted to have sex with was only allowed if it was consensual and your worker. This was a doorway in removing rape and torture against slaves. It was all a process that was meant for that time which occurred 1400 years ago. God knew that these laws had to be implemented in order to abolish slavery. There in no way does Islam say go buy slaves. It actually even says the more you free slaves the better you’ll look in gods eyes. Not the exact quote but this was the idea of it. You need perspective when dealing with topics from 1400 years ago. Like sams approach is so singular and it’s actually pretty laughable. Also in the Bible, testament, and Torah the same rules apply with “slaves”.

    • @samienaamien7038

I don't agree with everything you say about the slaves in the time of tge Prophet SAW. Esp if you look at the story of Hadrat Bilal RA, who was severely beaten, which is why Hadrat Abu Bakr RA bought him and freed him RA on the spot. But I agree that contexts matter. Sam Harris might be clever, but like all bigots, he has a blind spot, and logic doesn't apply, then.

@@amatyaucran2214 The Prophet wouldn’t have been taken seriously anywhere in the world if he outright abolished slavery. He’s not a god, he can’t just snap his fingers and make things appear. But the Prophet gave these slaves human rights…. “The food you eat is the food they eat, the clothes you wear is the clothes they wear.” “Freeing just one of your slaves is equal to freeing you from all your sins.” The prophet did everything he could to NUDGE society into the right direction about slave human rights. Also, do you know how many people would have tried to kill him if he outright abolished slavers? People all over the Middle East and the world had massive fortunes riding on slavery… Somebody who was looking to take that away would have easily been wacked. Banning slavery 1500 YEARS AGO just wouldn’t be possible.

@@wade2bosh There may be no proof, but there is evidence of the historicity of Jesus. Much more so than that of Mohammad.
The arguments for both are kind of opposites, but similar as well. There was a lot of what I guess we can call "Jesus-based effect" at the time that it makes it a little more difficult to just out of hand say there was NO Jesus (even if he's benefitted from very good PR and myth surrounding his life).
With things claimed to have been inspired by Mohammad, those claime seem to come much after the fact. Basically, it was a matter of, "We've just filled a power vacuum in the region through violence and want to set up a certain type of society, so now we have to reverse-engineer justification for it."
Ultimately, I don't really care much one way or the other. But it's sometimes fun to see whose supporters decide to jump up and down in anger, or act out violently, when such things are suggested.
And that's not always going to be a Muslim. I once had a roommate in college whose mother came to visit and lamented how adherents to some other religion were going to hell. This wasn't an organic part of the conversation, btw. But she was "so Christian" that she seemed the type who can't help but say shit like that for no reason.
Regardless, I simply asked something like, "What if THEY'RE right?" The reply was something to the effect of, "Then they're going to go to hell." To which I replied, "They probably think that about you, too."
That's all it took. Some people are just weird. :)

The summer we met in a beach 🏖 🏖 🏖 🏖 🏖 🏖 🏖 🏖 Pub on a late Saturday night/ early Sunday morning:) :) , we got married that summer and we have been returning back ever since.
And to we have been in France 🇫🇷 Germany 🇩🇪 Great Britain 🇬🇧 Scotland Norway 🇳🇴 Sweden 🇸🇪 And Austria 🇦🇹.
Many many times. Besides having different cousins who married ladies from these countries I have girlfriends I grew up with, went to school/ college with who also did.
I can assure anyone that sooooo many places we know of personally that used to be so safe no matter the time of night, is not any longer.
So many of the places in and around Paris Port Sall Annecy Eze Gaillac France /. Darlington Winchester Ludlow Liverpool Bristol London England/ Tromso Trondheim Stavanger Norway 🇳🇴 etc
I can keep writing big and small towns for awhile if I chose to do so.
But all the places that had so many of the BEAUTIFUL SMILING WHITE FACES that you would meet late late at night. Walking 🚶 🚶 🚶 🚶 from Pub to Pub arm in arm and soooooo
    safe, is no more.
If anyone reads this and is from our Nation the United States, and you have never been, and chances are you have not then you cannot relate to what I’m saying.
But to the ones that live in one ☝️ of these countries one of these cities towns that read my comment can fully relate to what I’m saying.
ITS A TERRIBLE THING TO LIVE IN FEAR. IN THE SAME TOWN AND OR CITY THAT YOU GREW UP IN. AND TO KNOW ITS NOT BECAUSE OF YOUR FELLOW WHITE RACE.
BUT BECAUSE OF DARK SKIN TO BLACK LAWLESS MUSLIMS. ITS A TERRIBLE THING!!
I cannot help but cry 😢 😭😭😭😭😰😰😰😭😭😭. Which I started doing shortly after I started typing my comment. Because I’ve seen, my wonderful ruggedly handsome tall Montana Cowboy type husband has seen what has happened to my own Sicily & Italy 🇮🇹 and Greece 🇬🇷.

@@82boulou I did, you have no understanding of context and what historic events mean, the labeling of things was based on the ppl of that time, it’s a reactionary of that time, historic events doesn’t all apply for all times. When Quran or Hadith uses the kafir or infidel, they aren’t talking about innocent ppl, they are talking about warlords that kill Muslims cuz they are rejecting their offer of peace and Islam, they pick war instead, it’s like saying they are killing me cuz of disbelief and distasteful of my religion. In Quran it specifically states to not kill innocent ppl no matter race or religion, if they aren’t fighting you it’s not up to you to kill them, and Quran preaches freedom of religion. So clearly you don’t know anything, just a sad infidel that doesn’t understand anything.

Read about Muhammad from his family's point of view and you will see that he was the best of role model for humanity.

This Sam Harris guy should learn Arabic and learn the Arabic terms „Jihad“. Back in the day all people had slaves. But Muhammad (PBUH) didn‘t kill everyone, he killed 1 or 2 men in a war but he was so merciful and kind he forgave his enemies and he always acted in a well-amnnered and peaceful manner. He was not violent at all. He hated fighting. In The Quran in ine verse it says that. Read Muhammad‘s (PBUH) Biography and read the Hadiths. And the capital punishments back then were not Prophet Muhammad‘s (PBUH) orders, but Allah. And stoning etc. was even executed in the Christian countries and other faiths and cultures. All of these stereotypes are from the media and from ignorance. He is not equitted to talk about Islam. He needs to educate himself. The slaves he talks about most were set free and his one slave was freed and she bore him a child. Muslims need to treat slaves and all people with justice and kindness and the slaves or servants back then were treated like normal people and they ate with their „masters“ and one of the companions of the Prophet (PBUH) even bought nice clothes for his servant and took the cheaper one. STOP with these false judgements and accusations.
