This song is masterpiece. The story behind it is amazing. Based on Italian story
Once upon a time, in an Italian village called La Citta di Smeraldo, there was a man with a grotesque appearance who hid himself in a small secluded castle. He was lonely and his only joy was growing flowers in the garden. He grew to fall in love with a girl who came to his garden to pick flowers. Secretly, he learned that she was poor and sold flowers for a living. However, he could not reveal himself to the girl because he was scared she would hate his hideous appearance. Instead, he decided to make a flower that the girl could sell at an expensive price. After many attempts, he made a flower that never existed before and filled his garden with it. However, the girl never came for the flower...she died before his act of sincerity could reach her.
Therefore, Smeraldo is the symbol of " 전하지 못한 진심 " which has been translated as "Sincerity that Couldn't be Delivered" or, for the song, "The Truth Untold".

The truth untold never leaves my heart after the show that the boys did here in Brazil last year, on the first day Jimin crying because he was sick and couldn't sing properly, then he listened to the armys singing his part he couldn't stand it and broke down in tears, it was such a special moment, I didn’t go to the show because I wasn’t a fan but this performance stayed in my heart ❤️

I don’t understand raffle tickets system in Korea. Does that mean you enter into a contest to win free tickets to go see BTS in concert? Also was the concert you went to last year?
iwubfood1 yes, the contest is strictly for official fan club member (holds ARMY ID number). I entered the contest and they will randomly select the winner. Winning the raffle ticket doesn’t mean you get it for free. It means you are eligible to reserve & purchase a ticket in the floor area (closest to the stage) before the general ticket sale. This was for Seoul final stage concerts last October 2019. And I don’t know if this applies to each concert. I don’t think so tho...
😮 it must be extremely hard to get tickets to a BTS concert if you have to enter a contest and win, only to be able to purchase tickets 😮

@@tharadelrosario1075 slight correction it's Jin who uses falsetto (e.g come back home) while JK usually uses his head voice (e.g. the bridge in ON)

This song is very personal to us and the boys. During their concerts last year they would often cry while singing this song and it made it hard for us to watch. Especially during their concert in Brazil when Jimin broke down on stage during this performance after not being able to sing because he was sick. It later became this joke between armys where we would tweet about wanting to fight and jump The Truth Untold for making our boys cry haha ( a small fun fact ,, this song had a second title which is Sincerity That Couldn't Be Delivered !!)

This is definitely one of the top five songs that I was blown away hearing live. They pour their emotions out in this song. In the concert I went to they were raised in the air by individual platforms. This song is one of my favorites and is based on a storyline of a man who is recluse that grows flowers. He watches a woman come every day to steal his flowers. He eventually finds out she steals them to sale because she is sick. He falls in love with her and grows a special flower for her in his garden but she doesn’t come back because she does. That’s loosely the story I’m sorry if I got any of that wrong it’s been a while

The truth untold is based on La Citta di Smeraldo. It's the story of a man who lived in a castle and kept to himself because he thought himself to be ugly. One day a women came near his castle and picked his flowers. He was angry at first but eventually became curious and waited for her. He found out that she was actually selling those flowers for a living. The man fell in love but didn't want to show himself becoz he was too ugly (the lyric "I cant show u me, give u me...) So he decided to plant a flower that didn't exist on the planet so she could sell it at an expensive price. Eventually he managed to fill his garden with them but the women stopped coming. He then learned that she died. That part where they sing "But I still want you" is about him regretting not telling her his feelings all because he didn't love himself first.

this song is actually based off a story about a guy who was highly insecure about himself. he was afraid of the world judging him, hence he hid himself in his castle. the only time he went out was to tend to his garden, something he holds dearly to his heart. one day while he was observing the garden from his castle, he caught a woman stealing his flowers, and though he was enraged, he never confronted her because of his insecurities. so everyday, he just watched the woman steal his flowers, and slowly grew accustomed to it, and even found himself waiting for her. he finds out the woman was actually poor, and stealing the flowers to sell them off and make a living. he decides to grow a flower that doesn't exist, so that she could make a fortune. after he had grown a bunch of them, the woman suddenly stops coming. puzzled, he mustered the courage to ask around, only to find out she had died, and his grief made him realise he had fallen in love with her, and regret consumed him for not being able to tell her his true feelings before it was too late.
the moral of the song is, before you can learn to love others, you must love yourself. don't hide in the shadows because of what you think of yourself, because you are so, so beautiful in your own unique way. don't let the standards of society define your beauty, because you have something in you that others don't.

The good thing about BTS is that they always sings live when performing unlike other kpop groups especially during concerts.I respect them for almost 90% singing live.I've attended other kpop concerts and most of them are 90% lypsincing.

He never opened his heart to anyone. Whenever they tried to approach him, he hid in anger. His happiness was to plant flowers in his garden.
One day a woman appeared near the man's castle. She jumped over the garden fence and stole a flower. This angered the man at first. So he watched his garden all night. But when he fell a sleep, the woman took another flower. This continued for several nights. The man pretended to be asleep and watched the woman steal a flower. He started becoming curious about the woman. He began waiting for her. without realizing he kept waiting for her to come and the next day seemed a little brighter.
Following after her one day he realized that she was selling the flowers that she stole from him to make a living. The man desperately wanted to help the woman. But he was afraid she would be terrified by the way he looks. He knew she would not love his 'grotesque' appearance. He came to a conclusion that the only way he would be able to help her is to let her continue stealing flowers from his garden. The man decided to make a flower that doesn't exist on the planet. So that the woman could sell them at a expensive price. He began to make the flower in his castle.
After many unsuccessful attempts, the man made a flower that didn't exist and filled his garden. But the woman stopped coming. No matter how long he waited she never came to his garden. He eventually found out that the woman had died.

To give you a more detailed backstory on the song, it's incredibly sad/tragic, someone commented this on another reaction ;

He was outraged and stayed up the next evening in hopes of catching her in the act but fell asleep. This went on for some time and eventually realized this nightly ritual was something he was coming to look forward too. One day he gathered up the courage to go into the nearby village where he found the young woman was living in poverty and was using his stolen flowers to make a living. Since he still considered himself ugly, he thought he would work to create a flower that has never been seen before, fill his garden and in turn help the young lady live a better life by selling these rare flowers for a high price. He spent extensive time trying to make this flower and eventually he did, grew enough of them to fill his garden but the woman never returned back. He later learned that she had died during the time he was working and the song is filled with his shame, regret and sorrow about what "could have been" if he had showed himself to her earlier. The boys are often inspired by books, movies, art, etc which in turn inspires some absolutely brilliant songs with stunning visuals but one of the main reasons we love them so much is because of their lyrics and how we can relate to them.
