Hundred times i heard this song but it always gives me a goosebumps specially with Jimin and Jk harmonizing at the end..

There's a story called, 'La Città di smeraldo' that takes place in a small town in Italy in the 1500s-1600s. This song is inspired by that. The story's about an 'ugly' man who hid in an old castle alone. because of his looks, he received lots of hate & cruelty while growing up. He never opened his heart to anyone. Whenever they tried to approach him, he hid in anger. His happiness was to plant flowers in his garden.
One day a woman appeared near the man's castle. She jumped over the garden fence and stole a flower. This angered the man at first. So he watched his garden all night. But when he fell asleep, the woman took another flower. This continued for several nights. The man pretended to be asleep and watched the woman steal a flower. He started becoming curious about the woman. He began waiting for her. without realizing he kept waiting for her to come and the next day seemed a little brighter. He eventually fell in love with her
Following after her one day, he realized that she was selling the flowers that she stole from him to make a living. The man desperately wanted to help the woman. But he was afraid she would be terrified by the way he looks. He knew she would not love his 'grotesque' appearance. He came to the conclusion that the only way he would be able to help her is to let her continue stealing flowers from his garden. The man decided to make a flower that doesn't exist on the planet. So that the woman could sell them at an expensive price. He began to make the flower in his castle.
After many unsuccessful attempts, the man-made a flower that didn't exist and filled his garden with them. But the woman stopped coming. No matter how long he waited she never came to his garden. He eventually found out that the woman had died.
The flower was a smeraldo btw and it is also shown several times in its universe
If u look at the lyrics again with reference to this, everything will make much more sense.
So u need to love yourself in order to love someone else

@@Nora915 the story was mentioned as if it was an old story on the fake (part of the Bangtan Universe) blog for the flower shop which was trying to bring the Smeraldo flower back on fashion and was the only one selling it. Bangtan Universe at its finest

There's only four because it's the 'vocal line' (Jin, Jimin, V, JK). The rapline (RM, Suga, J-Hope) also have songs that they perform
One of the many things I love about BTS is how it's not always the 7 of them that sing/rap together. They have songs just for the vocal line, songs for just the rap line, solos, and subunits and it's still all BTS. Maybe there is but I can't think of another group where each member has a solo song on an actual group album and are able to perform those songs when they tour. Did you know BTS is the only kpop group where each member has a solo song with over 100 million streams on Spotify. That's part of the reason why I think BTS is so successful. Because each member could easily be a solo star if they chose to pursue that route. There is no weak link in the group and no one acts like the star of the group either.

They really perform LIVE, 100%, so they make lil changes to every song, every time. Even if you've gone to the concert the night before, the same song will be treated with a slightly different delivery the night after. I was blessed to see them sing this live and it truly was so quiet and many of us had tears rolling down our face. I hope you get the chance to read the story that is the inspiration for this song and then I would listen to it again. It will make the performance that much more special.

This is the vocal line… bts has a rap line and a vocal line… actually they also have a dance line lol so other than solo songs or duo songs…. There can be vocal line and also rap line songs separately…. Other good vocal line songs

-outro tear , this is a song suga wrote in the hospital after surgery… the group was in a rough spot and thinking about disbanding…. So he wrote the original lyrics and played it for the whole group and they all cried together and were able to push through and keep going. This is an extremely powerful song when you know that’s what it’s about… if you do this one I’d say maybe do a color coded lyric video but also the live performance in the black dior,” I know that sounds weird lol it’s less about the clothes and all about how they perform it… it’s such a powerful track but in a very different way than you’d imagine I think…. So, BTS have a lot of unit songs. So, only the vocal line or only the Rap line and then sometimes it's 3 or 2 of them and then solos. They do it all!!

Which is very clear from this performance lol main vocalist jk and his golden vocals….. but for real jimin, Tae and jin each of them have incredible voices and the boys do so well with story telling aspects of the songs…. The story is part of the Bangtan Universe, published on the fake blog for the flower shop where the Smeraldo flower is "sold". I spoke with some Italian ARMY and they told me they couldn't ever find the story in their language. I don't think it's really an Italian story!
