I’ve been looking for an inexpensive but capable flat bar commuter that can push hills into downtown, lock up at the market, then cut through alleys and river paths back home. I watched just about every video on RUclips about this bike and yours finally convinced me to buy it. Your upgrades are inspo; I already have WTB tires on the way to swap during build. Also I never thought I’d want a basket but it looks so damn cool on your bike haha. Thanks!
Dynamo lights and full fenders are pretty much a must. I tried a derailleur setup, but it was too much hassle/cost to keep running smoothly. Trying out a shimano nexus 8 now; so far, much better. Not maintenance free, but shifting performance is less affected by environment.
Nice build, for my use case a dynamo hub and lights are essential especially in winter. And while I would love to run with just an ass saver, it would be far too messy.
I just started building up my Redwood and was wondering about your Salsa Bends handlebar. How is it better for you than the stock bar? Also, did you consider upgrading to compression-less brake housing? Thx, enjoying your videos.
Hi there ! Yeah it’s. Great bike but a lot heavier than I would really like for an every day commute.. the 4 miles to work usually takes me about 18minutes with my gravel bike 24ish with the Poseidon and about 30-32 with the bullitt.. all with the same perceived effort… I try to maximize the time at home in the mornings to make breakfast for my son and spend some time with family. I will ride it on occasion but I think when there is more of a purpose. For example if I know I’m going to get some groceries after work. Hope this helps

It really is a great bike for the cost ! And having it be flat bar you can have so many variations/builds

A copper or brass bell to match the rivets on the saddle.. you shouldn't have a problem with the saddle as long as it's proofed.
Sick steed. Beverage bags are essential for the commute I have em on all of mine including 1 on a basket bike. Handy handlers 👌
I'm looking forward to seeing what mirror you choose. I'm looking for a handlebar mount mirror.
superb build..

I LOVE Athletic brewing... And bikes😅
Getting my new bike from Old Towne Bikeshop today!
Hi. Nice build. How about a helmet mirror? I love mine.

To me commuter screams full fenders but thus is definitely a nice build!!
Same. Full fenders are a must.
How tall are you? I am just 5'11 tall. Stuck between choosing the the medium and the large.
Why not commute with the Bullitt? Is there a reason you seem to not use it much?

5’11” ! Used to ride a 52cm all city macho man. That fit me really well with a 100mm stem.
