Polish workers, after two years of being employed here, took the same number of days off sick as British workers. This disproved the notion, you regularly hear, that they are hardworking. Why would they be?

I believe Derek is incorrect in his statement saying “British workers are lazy”. Toyota, Honda & Nissan all have or had assembly plants here in the UK and the quality leaving those factories is comparable with any plant in the world.
If you take the workers out of the equation that leaves two things:
    1 Lack of investment
    2 Poor management
The German automotive manufactures work closely with their unions and include them in high level decision making. Not the ‘us and them’ mentality in the UK.

Derek is certainly outdated but the fact as far as I’m aware he’s never worked on an assembly plant shop floor it’s very hard work both physically and mentally
      Thanks for sharing your thoughts
