There are so many dedicated enthusiasts in the UK, otherwise a lot of these cars would just be recycled. The classic car scene is really a family enterprise.

I’ve not met Derek yet but I have met Dave, Jack and his lookalike younger brother Josh at Hexham after the Kielder Stages. Also met Charlie and Paul and Angela at Anglesey circuit three times when I was marshalling on rallies there. I was there when Charlie won the juniors championship in 2023 and got to congratulate Paul. That was amazing and emotional.
Also met Dave there at the Lee Holland stages but unfortunately the car gave up after one stage. He came over to talk to me during the day as I was there as a radio marshal. He gave me a Mathewsons Motorsport cap and coffee mug.
You couldn’t wish to meet a nicer family.

I remember when that Lagonda came out, it was out of this world beautiful and featured in all the newspapers, The futuristic look of the interior has not aged well as it looks so bland versus anything else Aston Martin has done. Sad times that he’s left his wife for one of the office girls who is 26 years his junior… who can be seen loitering in the background during the whole interview with @highpeakautos in this vid. That combined with the revelation Matt’s uncovered here that they’ve only been going since 2011 and not forever and a day as the telly show would suggest means the whole thing is a bit sullied for me now tbh 😔 Really sad because I genuinely loved the show and thought exactly what you did… family, wholesome, genuine stuff. The old Land Rovers caught my eye. Many years ago, when I worked part-time at a small village petrol station, a crusty old farmer type rolled up with a really old Land Rover. It was immaculate, and had the exhaust sticking up through the front wing. I was so impressed by it I went outside to take a closer look. I looked inside at the dashboard, and the mileage showed 18k miles. I asked the owner " is that the genuine mileage?" He replied " nay lad, I've f**king pushed it further than that"........ The Morris 1000 Traveller caught my eye too. You can buy a virtually new refurbed one from Charles Ware in Bristol.....complete with a few mod cons ( 5 speed box, bigger engine, alternator, electronic ignition, disc brakes etc ) for today's motoring......

Great video Matt - always a fan of you reviews love the way you respect other peoples cars by standing back with your arms behind your back. You need to do a few more interviews - not bad for a first attempt obviously unplanned so maybe a bit awkward - but never the less good try.

Derek is a legend and I don’t think anything about cars that he doesn’t know.

Bangers & Cash is my teatime viewing... where I softly weep into my dinner as a steady stream of 80s cars I owned, ran into the ground, and then binned goes through the block for silly money... Mantas, 190E 16vs, Capris, Escorts... "all done at twenty grand!"... and another tear drips on me chips.

Hi Matt - I followed an Aton Martin Lagonda through Buxton 2 years ago. I thought the it looked great apart from the rear end which seemed out of proportion! Great show and really good interview with DM. THX

That Cortina was definitely a Mk.4. My Dad had a Mk.4 two litre S back in the 1970s. A cracking motor that was.

gutted, didnt even realise this was on looks great and i could of potentially ran into you which would of been fantastic, was looking for a decent car show at the weekend, ended up at at a much smaller than billed one in warrick yesterday that was basically just a carpark full, nice cars but not worth the long drive to get there, luckily took a wrong turn and didnt realise how close i was to the british motor museum so that saved the day, excellent video, would love to see more of this stuff :)

Really enjoy your videos Matt and great to see you venturing into the world of classics. Was hoping you'd have a look around that gorgeous white Capri, but maybe another time!
