I’m the guy returning from China. I too was shocked at the cost of the Audi A6 repairs. Unfortunately a few faults showed up following the diagnostics check. I bought the car blind having watched many of your videos concluding that you were a trustworthy guy. I was right and thanks for covering the horrendous bill. Runs like a new ca now. I will buy from you again - if you’ll have me 😃 I highly recommend High Peak Autos as a consequence.

    • @dalearden5690

@@maninthestreet01 A lot. Maybe the faults on the engine management system had been cleared by the previous owner, hence the EM light coming on after 50 miles. The repairs included a new DPF pressure sensor, new EGR, new Ad Blue valve and a DPF clean. I used a private garage who are excellent, but they insist on using genuine Audi parts. E.G. a new Ad Blue valve was £543.60! Horrendous Audi prices. I have had company care for 25 years so never had to worry about repair costs. This had led me to believe that I'll buy a Lexus next time, as my experience tells me that the three big German marques aren't that reliable.

I have probably bought about 20 cars from dealers of different sizes over the years. Admittedly some had no problems and I just went on my way but every dealer I have needed to work through issues made it difficult and stressful, some of them just outright refusing to help initially, so nice to see you clearly trying your best to help customers and resolve faults even offering a courtesy vehicle. Great work, wish it was representative of the trade as a whole!

They believe its great because you're free and get to be your own boss but you get no paid holiday you never truly clock off work, you have accounts and the tax man to contend with if you want to grow you really have to put in lots of hard work. Reality is especially in the early days you're grinding for 80-90 hours a week just to stay above water.

I think you picked the perfect day to film if anyone watching wanted to know what it's really like to run your own business. I recently sold the business I've built over the last 25 years. It has provided me with a good wage and the sale price means I have several mortgage-free houses and enough money to enjoy a comfortable retirement - but god knows I deserve it! I haven't had more than a weeks holiday at any time in 25 years and you never really have a day off. There's always something to deal with! No sick pay, no safety net, people that work for companies or (esp) in the public sector have no f_ idea how stressful it can be. BUT it was all worth it to be my own boss. Nothing beats being in control (so far as you can be) of your own fortune. Good luck, Matt.

My wife clocked up 172,000 miles then passed it on to me. I ran it for another 40,000 miles and was going to scrap it but inspired by your video's decided to keep it going. I've passed it on to my son who's just passed his test and he loves it. We managed to gather all the old invoices, receipts and old mot's and photo copied them all and put them in clear plastic sleeves in a folder. It has a full service history and even though it's a bit bruised and battered it runs like a dream, It's like a diamond in the rough. Next job is a new cam belt and water pump. I never try to down the price when buying a car from a dealer I usually insist on any reasonably noticeable bodywork damage being done though. When I bought my 2016 Toyota Auris in 2019 it was actually just as cheap at the main dealer because I timed it to perfection, it was March so they wanted to clear stock for the 19 plate cars to go on the forecourt and the new Corolla just came out so they really wanted to shift the Auris models on the forecourt. I said I'll be back in a week with 66% of the money as a deposit and pay the rest on 12 months HP but only if they sorted the front and rear bumper scuffs they agreed straight away, guess its much cheaper and easier for a main dealer to do some bodywork repairs than drop the price £500. After Covid hit I realised just how good of a deal got when car prices went through the roof. My car cost me £9500 with 40k miles at 2.5 years old its now 6.7 years old with 71k miles and its worth £9000 still.

    High five to you,
Not all jobs are flying high but as long as you can hold your head up and think I've done some good and I enjoy it long term you're doing well.
Its been interesting watching your day, and I think so few of us customers realise just how much effort you go to for giving us a quality product or what you aim to be a quality product.
    Hats off to you sir.

I've learnt over the years that people who start a conversation with " That car you Sold me" ...... Rather than " That car I bought from you" .... are going to be not only unreasonable, but also headache inducing, which is why I have been accused on many occasions of "Are you trying to put me off buying this car" .... .Errrrr .... Yes actually😜 I know you know what I mean Matt. Those kind of days are inevitable in this business, I would say do a video where you have one of those everything goes right days and you sell three cars with great profits in, but that just annoys people 😂

Busy, busy, but love the commitment you put into making every car you sell as good as it realistically can be. Great stuff. I ran my own business for 15 years, and the day after I paid the mortgage on my house, the same day I was refused a mortgage on my retirement property. Mortgage lenders don't like dealing with the self-employed, no matter how hard working we are.

Matt, you're a credit to the second hand car trade. That bloke with the Yeti is ridiculous. If he wanted a new car he should have gone to Skoda and paid them 40k for a new one. Even then i doubt very much if Skoda would have supplied him a courtesy car whilst any warranty claims were dealt with!

Although it was a testing day Matt, it brings to us a typical day in the life of, and proves it's not all sunshine and smiles, giving an honest viewpoint, love the videos, and probably more so yr honesty about people and the cars, than anything else, I always chuckle when yr moaning about the state of cars interiors, cause it's my one bugbear when people have filthy interiors, along with bird muck all over the paint that's been sat for months and baked on with the sun..I have panic attacks when I see those😂...keep em coming, and never stop being yourself.👍

This is a great behind the scenes video... We always see the glitz and glamour of being a car trader, but this really highlights the hard work and not so great days... Dealing with ungrateful, rude, and entitled people must be really challenging... Also, there is obviously lots of money to be made, but at the same time, there are so many overheads... I really like the content of Matt's videos, he keeps it real and shows us the highs and lows of being in the car business... I really do think he should have a sideline selling merch with his now infamous quote... "I've massively overspent" on a t-shirt 😂

Interesting video. The guy with the Yeti sounds as reasonable as a just stop oil protester, probably as intelligent too. Give the garage a chance to sort stuff out. I bought an E Class last year with a couple of issues, gave the dealer time, sorted the issues and been utterly reliable for over 18 months. The Audis bill seems horrifically expensive, but good old Matt is honorable as ever. Need more people like Matt and his team.

Been watching your videos from Northern Ireland for a while now, your honesty will go a long way towards success! I'm always impressed by your thorough servicing and presentation of your stock. I just bought a little Kia Rio as a runaround with very mileage only find the air con was buggered (yet had promised to regas it). Fair enough, the problem was fixed at their expense but then it was found that the alternator belt was down to the wire and needing replaced (it was 'serviced' before selling!) An honest seller will always attract my repeat business Matt so keep it going!!!
