Really hoping KOC doesn't send McCarthy out there behind an IOL of Brandel, Bradbury and Ingram. Love the picks in the first round, but the Vikings are still soft in the middle of both the OL and DL. I really wanted to see them land a DT like Sweat, and a good starting guard.

The later rounds got us a DT, and center, who's played guard, or vice versa. We also have UDFA availability, and the summer to maybe shore up the two interiors. I was also hoping for them to chase Sweat, until he went in the 2nd round - thinking he might drop to 108. We do still need a WR3, need help in CB room, and the line interiors. To realistically compete above the division, it's probably going to take at least one more draft, and another offseason out of salary cap jail.

Sharp football gave us top rank for extracted value over first 3 rounds and gave us 9th best overall value on our class. And that's a class where the entire league knew we needed a QB and wanted to tax us accordingly. Hard to argue this draft was anything but a win for KAM.

It seems to me Flores must’ve rated Turner well above Chop to buy in on that trade. I wish I could’ve been a fly on the wall in the draft room in that decision.

Not just Flores. Pro football scouts virtually all had Turner as the best defensive player in the draft. The best de absolutely and rated Chop 7, so the consensus is... there is no comparison. Turner was an easy choice.

I have lived through every Vikings Rick Spielman draft, the "more bites from the apple" does not necessarily mean it's a pathway to Super Bowl success as we have learned. So, based on that logic, this most recent draft does not "mortgage the future", as future QUALITY STARTER picks will be well worth the draft cost.

Imagine if they gave up 11 and a 4th and next years 3rd to get McCarthy anywhere from 4-9 and Dallas turner for 2 seconds and next years 4th and 5th. People would say that was incredible. 23 did become a revalued entity after you got a qb. Sure the cupboard is fairly empty but you still got the staples in there and you got a qb you loved paired with a game changing defender. It’s a make or break year for kwesi and he leveraged the picks for the best blend of immediate impact difference and a long term vision.

There is such a thing as opportunity cost fallacy, where we focus too much on the trade off and lose sight of the fact that sometimes an opportunity is worth spending more on. In this case taking a top 10 player, at arguably the 2nd most important position on the field behind QB, is worth those picks. It’s definitely a risk, but if this hits? Look out.

When you miss out on a pick one year in the early rounds to get that player that you need to put into the starting lineup it makes the next draft more important and willing to spend more to make sure he’s yours. Kwesi missed bad on his first draft trading down so instead of an elite player he’s shopping for a medium level player with to much hope wrote on the back of his shirt. Always better to target elite players and not just numbers.

All we can do is hope they get better, the North is kinda fun now, the competition should make all teams elevate. With whoever comes out on top should be a contender. I like McCarthy’s attitude, seems like he gets it. I consider 24 his senior year, still young, hopefully they don’t rush him in and let him develop. Next draft I hope they target a DT, C, G and CB. Hopefully one of the younger guys currently rostered fills one of those needs. Luckily by 26 this team is contending.

I was so happy with this draft. I have never understood why draft picks in the sixth and seventh rounder so highly valued when those players rarely make the team. Players in the first round almost always make the team especially the top 20 so why wouldn't you always try to get one or two players in the top 20 knowing they're gonna make the team and make your team better if you could two good players like really solid players with every draft that's a pretty good percentage I Thinkand then if you can get one more three that's awesome

Quality over quantity is a recipe for success. There is no such thing as a can’t miss prospect…but picking the ones that are damn close to can’t miss, become true assets for the team. More bites at the apple per say with later round picks, can still get talent, but there’s usually a significant talent drop off from those picked early in the draft.

When you move up in the draft, and you use the 'trade charts' to evaluate how much you gave up versus how much you got back, you don't use the # of the pick you traded up for. You use the value or rank you had for that player.
So, when the Vikings traded up to 17 (for Turner) they're not asking: Are we giving up to much for pick #17?. If they had Turner as their #9 player overall -for sake of argument- then their question is: "Are we giving up too much for #9?"
The charts can still be useful and relevant. But you don't assess the pick you moved up for at the slot number of the pick. You assess it at the slot number you gave that player. In their eyes, they didn't trade up to acquire the #17 pick. They traded up to acquire the #9 pick.

As much as I am on board with JJ and Dallas T, the rest of the draft was underwhelming. Not a fan of the Jackson pick at all. Would have gone with TJ Tampa, Jaylen Wright, Bortolini or Devontez Walker. Not going to act like the 6s and 7s are overly consequential but I would have loved Malik Washington or Johnny Wilson over Tackle guy.

31:57 I have a tough time taking Myles' kicker rant seriously when every other word out of his mouth is "like, like".
I recognize on a draft focused show you want guys that can sling film review and crunch the spreadsheets, but some more polish on camera would be appreciated.
To address the actual rant though, why not use a draft pick on a kicker you like? It's true that Justin Tucker and Adam Vinatieri were UDFAs, but there have been plenty of kickers drafted in NFL history, Stephen Gostkowski and Gary Anderson to name two.

We the public, don't have to toe the line in order to stay on the air and be relevant to the companies you write for. Dallas Turner better be God's gift to the edge position, because they paid a Kings ransom for Him! While totally ignoring the interior offensive and interior defensive lines!

If you want to "grade drafts" (lol) you don't get to GB and say you have to wait to see them in the NFL. Grading a draft = grading each PROSPECT and averaging that out over each player in the draft.

Drake Rodriguez is a better athlete than Forno has suggested he is a long shot to make the team but I think he end up on the practice squad for a year to develop. Why couldn't he get on a division 1 team with what he had shown on the field?
