In some of the earlier videos, you can even see camera man John's face. I mean, if you really need to know what he looks like. Or just Google his name and look at his LinkedIn profile picture.
i have finally watched every video on this channel, time to absorb all the readily available info from the next channel that is way smaller than it should be
You know what I had literally no idea what was going on in this vid but I still watched it because you were in it and you're funny. I've watched all of your videos now and I hope you keep making awesome vids😁keep up the good work👍🏼
Too cool dude! I was just taking a break from designing suspension components for my schools FSAE team when I found this video. Definitely gonna show this to the rest of my team! Thanks!
Hey William, I love you and your videos! I just wanted to let you know that I, along with many others are thinking about you in hard times like this and just wanted to let you know. I hope everything gets better, keep up the good work.
That’s it! I’ve heard his voice! I heard cameramanjohns voice! Not just a noise or grunt from being electrocuted either, but actual words! Glorious day. Now make sure he never speaks on camera, keep the bit going!
Wait.. i am already done with all the videos??? xD there wasn't such a giant backlog after all. But it was a very enjoyable few weeks watching all your videos :3
If you want a somewhat more professional system you could get the racepak CL1 or CL2. both use your phone and a data box to transmit live data to other phones/tablets, and include live lap timing and map tracking. Pretty neat systems. The cl2 literally plugs into the obdii port on your car and streams live data
William, this is very cool alternative to using programs like National Instruments LabView. Do have circuit diagrams of your telemetry system? You mentioned using two voltage regulators (3.3V and 5V) and large capacitance. I see you also used electrolytic capacitors, resistors and it looks like a diode too. It maybe inexpensive and small, but looks complicated :P Thanks!
I was wondering if you could connect a stronger antenna module to make the range more like miles and also what data the cosmos sends from the Arduino, is it all of the pin values.
I've been a little lazy, but I finally got around to watching all your old videos and it's such a weird contrast to the newer videos. Still, though, this will always be one of my favorite channels. Love you William, and everyone involved. Good, sometimes great humor mixed in with actual education and I love it.
Watching all your videos since I saw you collaborated with Babish and how dare you not wear a cat t-shirt!!! (Keep up the good work and visit Canada sometime)
Is it possible to also trigger / synchronize Cameras with it? Then you could install several cameras on your vehicle and would be to review the recording or even take closeup looks.
Haha I was just watching your Laser Cutting an Unusual Toy as you replied! I don't see much evidence for the less nerd talk, but I am sure you can find a happy medium! But for someone like me who's a software eng, I love seeing videos like these because they introduce / are a stepping stone for electrical engineering and visually give me a sense of outcome/scope of work if I were to do it myself. Blog posts are great for in-depth followup, but videos are far better as an introductory.
William Osman don't stop the nerd talk, it's one of the main reasons I watch; started programming six years ago and have been kinda stepping it up ever since.
I went to school for TV/film production, but because of reasons, I need to learn a lot about electronics in a short amount of time. Where did you (or other commenters) learn terms like "telemetry" and "Arduino"? I've gone to school for two associates degrees and I REALLY don't want to go back for another, but... look at me. I'm trying to learn electronics from ancient Will Osman videos D:
Hey, I'm looking into making something like this for my Baja SAE team. Since we're all pretty much studying mechanical engineering, our electronic knowledge is pretty bad. How many sensors are you able to attach to a system like this?
Depends on how the sensors communicate. The Arduino itself only has a handful of digital and analog pins, so there is a limit. However there are digital communication protocols like I2C which allows a large number of sensors to share the same two wires.
William Osman how many arduinos can you have attached to the wireless module and have it transmit the data? I'd like to have a couple of accelerometers at the steering knuckle when taking a jump in order to verify some FEA. If we can a total of 5 accelerometers then I think we should be fine
i almost miss this version of william, where his voice is kind of unenthusiastic. idk i dont really miss it, but it's charming. youve grown so much, you got so big. you're such big boy now, my little man, my handsome grown 30+year old big boy.,
so you're using two arduino boards in the build, one to run the accerlometer and the transmitter on board the car and another to receive the signal and transmit the data to the computer? would it be possible to directly connect a transceiver to your computer and bypass the use of two arduinos? from my understanding you could accomplish something like this using an xbee, is there a reason you chose to go the route you did in using two arduinos? are the transmitters connecting through radio signals and not over a common wireless network?
Xbee does both jobs, the transmitters I'm using are not as "smart" as xbee. Only one Arduino is used to handle the accelerometer and transceiver on the car.
Hey William, before all your RUclips cash starts rolling in, could you upload a zip folder with the code and config files you used to your blog post? :D
You can tell this is from the early days: camera man john speaks, no cat shirt, and William speaks like a robot.
And the day it was posted too
@@franklinturtle2891 this was William version 1.0 . It wasn't until Amazon upgraded him to William version 2.0 that we see his wild side.
He called him the videographer 🤣

We need to have Open Source Code for the goofy inventions too...

It’s stuck on there pretty good
@@cap5856 i thought cameraman John was deaf, and that's why he wouldn't say anything.
@@deepmind5318 but thats just a theory a bad theory.
crappy comedian no it’s a gametheory lmao

Kynar wire changed my life. I've wanted to try wire wrapping for a while now. It's great.
I cant wait to see your channel blow up in popularity! You guys put out some really awesome content, keep up the good work 👍👍👍👍😘😘😘
Wtf jimmyjohns official 😂
Gimme food
I hope his second channel has videos like this.
Well, it kinda did
I just watched all of ur videos in like 3 days and notifications are on
I know this will probably come out wrong but: i love goofy you guys are its so cute haha
heeyyyyyy
Neko it did come out wrong
Agreed. Tall doofuses are incredibly attractive. He’s also intelligent which is a bonus I guess.
Oh an original comment and reply from 3 years ago, *nice*
Yes
I have officially watched all of your vidoes, you are pretty hilarious man
I hope you keep uploading. this content is super cool
Thanks! I will be posting more.
and so he did.
I subscribed ! I hope to see more technical videos! Thanks for sharing your work on RUclips :)
Camera man John has last name ? Didnt expect that
I always thought it was just John.
Camera Man John
First name camera, middle name man, last name john
Yea, it’s “John”, cameraman John
I love your goofy stuff for another reason, but this is amazing in another way!
Any one else find it kinda weird how serious he is.
I'm absolutely terrified to even get into Arduino, I'm just here because I love these videos.

I like that the most replayed part, is where camera man john's name shows up on screen.

I don't know what he's explaining to me, but I will watch cause it looks cool
You could use a lora transceiver for increased range :P
I have 5 more videos until I’ve watched every video on your channel
This would call for a series
I was wondering if you could connect a stronger antenna module to make the range more like miles and also what data the cosmos sends from the Arduino, is it all of the pin values.
You should make a flux capacitor
damn those perfboards are tight
Woah there is that CameraManJohn’s voice at the end?

these are so serious compared to his newer video's.
I wish you did more informative videos like this. Nevertheless, subbed!
Most people want less nerd talk. I do usually post more information on my blog linked in the video descriptions.

All the wires on the bottom, if you had gooped it, that totally would've made sense to prevent them from snagging on something and getting ripped off.
