    jfc i can't imagine how much time went into making this. mad respect. you're such an inspiration! and it's not only about visuals, it's about the essence of work hugely as well. it's sad, that you put your thoughts on elaborating architecture out, that'd be interesting to hear. otherwise thank you for your work and best luck with everything

      @@lets_architecture I mean it in the best way possible. I've rarely seen anyone do study models to understand essence of architectural projects. That is very unique and I hope this method is used more often to study architecture.

      Thanx. The method of architectural "transcription" was invented by Jan de Vylder (director of aDVVT and professor at ETH.). My studio tutor (Takero Shimazaki) hass collaborated with Jan. We also sent our models to Vlaams Architectuurinstituut, as part of a bigger exhibition.

      Thank you, Raissa. Hugs from the UK. I've decided to become an architect at the age of 12. I've been chasing that dream for 13 years now, and still, there is at least 3 more years until I could call myself an architect. If I get there, I'll probably feel bulletproof too (unless I break in the process). I'm back for good!!! See you in the next one.

    Extraordinary work james! By the way i wanted to ask you that how many font types can be used for portfolio? Personally I liked the font you used, Is it geomterica font?

    • @lets_architecture
      @lets_architecture  3 года назад +1

      Thank you Manohar 😊. How many fonts can be used?... Ideally one. You can get different sizes and different weights, and that should be plenty. I know that some people prefer not to bother with weights, so in those cases you could use two fonts, one for titles and one for the general text. The font I used is called 'Underground 22', its the font that the 'Transport for London (TfL)' uses, and it is NOT free. I do love it)

    • @lets_architecture
      @lets_architecture  3 года назад +2

      Uhmm what do you exactly mean? What programs did I use to create the "work" within the portfolio? You could be looking at a 3ds Max + Photoshop combination or a SketchUp + Enscape + Illustrator combination. If you are talking about the final portfolio, I did put it all together in InDesign.

    • @Buckers582
      @Buckers582 3 года назад

      @@lets_architecture Yeah sorry i was a bit vague, I'm starting my masters this September and I'm interested in whether the software changes or whether its just building on everything you've learnt
      Part 1 was basically hand drawn at the start of the project moving onto photoshop and Sketchup and then into indesign with a bit of rendering for final images.
      What do you wish you'd known before you started?

    • @FEISARCHASSISMK3
      @FEISARCHASSISMK3 3 года назад +4

      I'd say the renders where a mix of photoshop and enscape. You can probably use lumion or v-ray instead if you want. As for the line drawings this can be done using sketchup then importing the section/plan into Autocad or illustrator to clean the lineweights. To get the plans with the beautiful shadows I'd say use sketchup then render the view with enscape and then import into illustrator to add grain and fix lineweights etc but that's just me guessing😅

    • @lets_architecture
      @lets_architecture  3 года назад +1

      @@Buckers582 ahh. Good luck!!! Well, regarding the software, it all depends on the UNI, and more importantly on the studio (tutor). Im doing master at London Met (I LOVE IT HERE) and we have 10 studios and they all range from more traditional (loads of hand drawings and models) to more contemporary (computer only). My unit is inbetween. We did loads of sketches and models, but the final work is drawn on a computer. (Apart from one A1 drawing) Although we were asked to do "digital drawings that have a hand-drawn feeling to them). Anyway, I think you should play to your strengths. At the end of the day the medium in which you work is only the means to translating your design to others. I have learnt a lot in terms of presentation this year, and i will be showing different ways you can create 'visualisations', different complexities, different approaches, different styles etc. Stay tuned for that. Generally speaking the differen e between 3rd & 4th year is like that of 2nd & 3rd. Same stuff but more indepth. But now incorporating everything you've (hopefully) learnt during your placement.

    • @lets_architecture
      @lets_architecture  3 года назад +2

      @@FEISARCHASSISMK3 you guessed right!!! Every "scale model photo" (except "Transcription") was full CGI (3ds Max + Corona Render > P.shop) lol. We were in lockdown, no workshops, so I had to improvise. Thankfully I've mastered the technique of fake "scale models" in my previous portfolio ))) All "renders" at the end were done with SketchUp + Enscape > P.shop. All 'illustrations' were done with SketchUp > Illustrator > P.shop (had to come up with a new repeatable technique).
