Your Old Uncle Finn hitting the logical high points. "How come Band XYZ isn't at the festival?" Finn - Are they still a band? Are they touring? Do they even want to appear at your festival?
i would love to go to this festival, but the ticket prices are outlandish for a lot of people including myself. the tickets are literally like, half of my rent before travel (if sick new world is anything to go off of). it’s kinda disappointing and comes off leaving me feel like these bands i’ve loved aren’t in it for what they should be (don’t get me wrong, get the bag) and just play it for 💴
Crazy how they aren't willing to create a east coast equivalent. Miami, NYC, DC, Baltimore. Just one city would make so many more people go and maybe make it more affordable for people who would have to spend a few grand on plane tickets in addition to the concert and hotel.
There’s payment plans for it and it’s a year away. You just need to put down 20 bucks and then manage 5 or 6 payments over 8 months. It’s not that difficult
Remember the ballerina from the Helena video? That song isn't on Black Parade but we threw some ballerina slippers on the flyer anyway because member!?!
I'll say only about 30% of the crowd seemed to be excited for 100 Gecs. Throughout the whole day everyone cheered every artist until they came on, completely sucked the energy out of the place after Knocked Loose
I did not attend the first 2 years, but i jumped on booking a hotel when i saw this. Some of my favorite albums from these bands and i love the nostalgia. In my mid 30s and i saw these album cycles when they first happened and i still listen to them. Not gonna complain about prices because if you piece out all the tours that could happen, you’d be spending alot anyway.
I wish it was the used-the used, my chemical romance- 3 cheers for sweet revenge and Coheed & Cambria - In keeping secrets of silent earth 3. The 3 band I would be most excited to see.
I was there this year and thought it was ran pretty good! Plenty of water stations, lots of food and drink stalls, always found place to sit if needed, and stages rotate at two of the 4 so it was nonstop. Overlap wasn't really an issue for the bands I was into but sets were pretty short and there was a ton of people at the Saturday show. Had a great time all in all! Next year will sell out and be extended another day, as always.
I’m a big fan of the old album concept because I was a literal child when a lot of these came out and couldn’t see them live. That Used album literally played on Radio Disney lol.
Does anyone else not care for shows where artists play records cover to cover? I get the appeal, but it feels very phoned in, a lot of the times the artist resents their old material because they’ve since grown as a person from the time they wrote it, and as an audience member, it completely takes away the anticipation of “what will they play next?” That makes the concert experience so memorable. I’ve seen Blink play Enema Cover to Cover, The Wonder Years with the Greatest Generation, and Springsteen play the River, and all fantastic shows, but the lack of Spontaneity and speculating the next song as the guitars/bass play open chord progressions kind of water down the experience in my opinion
Wild coincidence that since this video was made Hey Monday have now been announced to play the festival. There’s also several other bands been announced that predominantly feature female members.
This ticket price is stupid. I would never pay this much. Living in Australia, I've been fortunate enough to see some of these album playthroughs back in the day e.g. MCR Black Parade, underoath playthroughs etc.
Sadly the prices are actually reasonable in this market. If you can see half these bands at the VIP level, you’re still getting a good deal. MCR, Blink 182 etc tickets alone for a single date can be 500-1000
I went to WWWY in 2022. I did have to make tough choices and miss some acts i wanted to see but I don't think that's a bad thing every act is saw was great. I still saw 10 hours worth of music which felt like enough. Me and my girlfriend did the whole trip spending just under $1500 combined including concert tickets and air fair. We didnt drink, gamble, or buy merch. We stayed off the strip only eating out a couple times. Vegas has good grocery stores and public transit.
The funny thing is that as of today Hey Monday has been added. One of my best friends is in the band and told me it all like transpired in a matter of three hours 😂
It should be a two day event from the start if you're going to have this many bands on 4 stages. Instead they sell a single day twice and make way more money. I was there last month and it was so crowded that I couldn't get within 200 yards of Blink
There is a type of stage where it rotates. On one side, a band plays, and on the other, the band sets up. KROQ did this kind of thing with their festivals.
My friends and I do Riot Fest in Chicago almost every year, which we really enjoy. It is a three day fest and has some overlap, but not much. My friends last year asked me if I want to do WWWY instead. While the lineup was amazing, it falls on my son’s birthday weekend. I didn’t go. While 60 bands were listed, they only saw 8 bands because of the constant overlap. I enjoy the 2nd and 3rd tier bands, but I can see them for a few bucks.
I remember some people who went to Sick New World (which had a similar layout I think) saying that there was some audio bleed and other problems at the smaller stages. Hopefully that's all sorted out.
Last year the had 5SOS, so the fact that they have Neck Deep and State Champs (both performed last year too) means they could’ve brought in other more recent bands for this like Stand Atlantic, Meet Me @ the Alter, Yours Truly, or Hot Milk all have at least 1 woman in the band, or at least for the bare minimum had brought Flyleaf(granted Lacey’s no longer in the band but they still tour with different female lead singer)..so it was possible for them to do
Also, what’s genuinely funny about the “it’s sexist” post shown in this, they legit went outside the genre to find a band with a woman in it. Like Rilo Kiley was always called indie and was exclusively liked by people who lied about people knowing who they were when they got back together.
Love your content, Finn. One thing to add regarding the "nostalgia bashing": Cashing in on nostalgia (by, say, planning a festival, or a themed cruise) is objectively morally superior to cashing in on the cynicism and resentment (by, say, podcasting or vlogging, or even just shitting on something for clicks or likes and the dopamine rush that follows) of that nostalgia.
Pink and green stage are next to each other and are for the headliners. It’s a really good way of bringing in the next act without having to take a break for setups
Hey Finn, great vid as always. And it will be interesting to see how they manage all those bands in 1 day. I went to the Bamboozle festival in New Jersey in 2007 and they had like 7 stages (3 sections with side by sides and one stand alone). Even with driving from Toronto Ontario to East Rutherford, getting a hotel and food, etc however it wasn't even CLOSE to $1000...maybe $400 tops. Something I noticed as the video ended and the "back" album cover was blown up is that on the left hand side the very last artist listed is L.S. Dunes who doesn't have an album listed next to them and I'd never heard of. So I did a quick search and they're a super group combining Saosin/Circa Survive front man, MCR guitarist, Coheed guitarist, and Thursday bassist & drummer. They've only been together since 2022 and had their first tour in 2023. It'll be interesting to see if they play their own new stuff from their only album or if they pull out the hits from their collective bands.
Finn, speaking of KennyHoopla you put me on to him in 2021 and Ive been a fan ever since. Saw him live 3 times now and each time its the best most energetic show Ive ever seen! Thanks man!
I wish they would bring Warped back or make something similar. The fact that you paid $50 to see a bunch of bands and could meet them was a steal. We always saw all the bands we wanted even if we had to leave one set a little early. I always made a point to meet one band i liked and get an autograph or photo or both. So many fun memories. Plus the fact that it was accessible for most people since they went around the country. I'm not traveling all the way to Vegas, having to fight for time off for travel, spend hundreds on food and stay etc just to maybe see half the bands I wanna see. Not worth it.
You had me at Amberlin, never take friendship personal. As amazing as some of these bands would be to see again minus alessana furnace fest seems to be where it's at and was successful the last 2 years with bringing back memories and nostalgia.
Hopefully some of these bands will tour on the albums they’re playing since they’re gonna have to get together and rehearse them anyway. Would much rather pay a reasonable price to see STD play Stay What You Are in a nearby city instead of paying $1000 to fly out to a one day fest.
I’ve been saying when Warped Tour would come you could sacrifice easier because most of the bands you had a chance to see through their own tour. With this it would be really hard to pay that much to miss certain sets because a lot of it is once in a lifetime moments and bands that you won’t see touring every year.
From the minute 10 to the end of this video, you could have summarized that those who are complaining about women and POC, those are the sensitive/cancel culture people who DID NOT grow in that era. Us millennials don't give a fuck and will still attend. This last WWWY Fest was actually great and enjoyable imo to see people over the age of 30 😂🤷♂️
If yall were in Florida in 2020 or 2021, I remember this festival called REBLE ROCK and it got cancelled twice. 2020 it got cancelled because of covid, obviously. And in 2021 it got cancelled because, supposedly the festival grounds got to wet or muddy and they cancelled the whole thing.
I saw UnderOath perform in Oshkosh, WI at a festival. It was a rock festival, and the weather was bad. There was literally no one in the whole vip area. Spencer spent the whole shortened set because of the weather, complaining about the vip area.
This sort of reminds me of the last WrestleMania that was only one day. It was like 8 hours long and even that turned the show into a bit of a sit. This should really be at least 2 days
I agree with you on the VIP stuff. I have never done VIP for any festival or show. The fun is to be in the large mix of the crowd. The energy level is better and it just seems like a waste of money unless you are looking to drink and add pics to your IG.
Admittedly I didn't listen to a lot of these bands, but Paramore is the only female front-led band I can remember, and I don't recall any other female musicians, whether on keyboards or bass. I don't recall much ethnic, let alone sexual diversity, either. Kim Gordon, Michael Stipe, and Hootie, were well past their prime. It's time to face that the 2000s were a simpler time.
It went up since this year I believe because we paid $250 for the GA tickets which wasn’t too bad but I’d rather see some of these bands touring the 10-15 year album
It's seems that this was the last group of real bands with amazing music. I don't know if any new bands can reach this level that they did so it's interesting well see.
After seeing the price of a general ticket, I'm glad not one band is playing that I'm a huge fan of. I feel fortunate now to have grown up during Warped Tour (which was $20) just from the greed that ticketmaster set an example for. All this VIP crap is goddamn ridiculous. A charging station? Just charge your phone before you go. If your phone doesn't last for a day, well you apparently weren't all that interested in the live music going on.
Following up on this, even though they added a fifth stage this year, almost every single band did not have enough time to play their entire albums. They all obviously prioritized the hits, but cuts were made. In fact, The Used got cut off for going over their time. As for the “scam” narrative, this was the third year of WWWY so not sure what people are talking about there. I did have to sacrifice seeing some bands, but it was still a great time. The pits were wild at every set 🤙
Also, why ate aome people complaining about the lack pf diversity in gender and race?? There WEREN'T any popluar black groups bacl then, and there WEREN'T any big female lead emo bands??? I mean, it's a nostalgia festival... That would be like complaining about a Neil Armstrong movie not having Neil as a black female landing on the moon...um okay hahaha
The last 2 years were both originally announced as 1 day, and then they "added an extra day" afterwards. I'd be surprised if the same strategy isn't applied here.
I can't believe they only do this on the west coast in one location. You'd think there'd by an East coast equivalent. I'm not flying across the country to attend a festival. I'd drive a car 8 hours max for any single concert, no matter who plays. If you're flying across the country for this show spending thousands of dollars for a weekend, you need to give up your childhood. It's over. If you're on the west coast and it's a day trip, however, you should definitely go if you can afford it. But once you hit $500 for a ticket to one show, you're either filthy rich and/or not willing to let your childhood go.

Your Old Uncle Finn hitting the logical high points. "How come Band XYZ isn't at the festival?" Finn - Are they still a band? Are they touring? Do they even want to appear at your festival?
i would love to go to this festival, but the ticket prices are outlandish for a lot of people including myself. the tickets are literally like, half of my rent before travel (if sick new world is anything to go off of). it’s kinda disappointing and comes off leaving me feel like these bands i’ve loved aren’t in it for what they should be (don’t get me wrong, get the bag) and just play it for 💴
If you look up most festivals they’re all pretty pricey. People took Warped Tour for granted so now we’re stuck with big festivals only.
@@josuesamaniego182 agreed. This is in line with just about every other festival for the last 10+ years
Crazy how they aren't willing to create a east coast equivalent. Miami, NYC, DC, Baltimore. Just one city would make so many more people go and maybe make it more affordable for people who would have to spend a few grand on plane tickets in addition to the concert and hotel.
@@josuesamaniego182This is a rip off for 1 day only!! Riotfest is 3 days for $250 and just as many bands.
WWWY remembers
They wont only play a full album. The rest of the hits are gonna be played as well. At least for the bands that close
I'd wager that most of the potential festival folks already have these albums at home. Just have a house party.
I don't have any friends for that lol
I never got the chance to go to Warped, so that's the only reason I'm willing to spend the money on WWWY
I'll say only about 30% of the crowd seemed to be excited for 100 Gecs. Throughout the whole day everyone cheered every artist until they came on, completely sucked the energy out of the place after Knocked Loose
I try to like 100 Gecs, but I have the same reaction to them as trying to force feed myself cold eggs and soggy bread after already being full.
To be fair 100 Gecs and Deftones are about as different as two alternative artists can get
@@luke5100They suck plain and simple haha idc about these dorks feelings. Like your gatekeeping lol😅
Holy shit babe wake up, new fin drop
I heard that FOB just hadn’t decided which album yet - which honestly seems even stranger than just deciding not to do it, like they’re headlining
I hope it's From Under The Cork Tree
I think it's the S/T album
Im 100% convinced that the ppl who came up with this are the ppl who bullied emos back in high school. They just grew up.
There are young people like me (25, 1st wave of GenZ) who love mid-early 00s emo/phc/metalcore. We'll make sure that WWWY last more than 10 years lol
26 and same here!
MCR, Blink 182 etc tickets alone for a single date can be 500-1000
It is what it is. Rock music since then has become if not vastly more diverse then certainly more diverse than what it was in the 2000's.
Someone said highschool and I came running.
The funny thing is that as of today Hey Monday has been added. One of my best friends is in the band and told me it all like transpired in a matter of three hours 😂
Great take on the women and minorities stuff Finn honestly, people are being too sensitive
It should be a two day event from the start if you're going to have this many bands on 4 stages. Instead they sell a single day twice and make way more money. I was there last month and it was so crowded that I couldn't get within 200 yards of Blink
Hey Monday is playing 🔥🔥🙌🏾
To your point on Hey Monday, Cassadee Pope performed both days this year with multiple bands. Avril Lavigne performed too and wasn’t on the docket.
Last year the had 5SOS, so the fact that they have Neck Deep and State Champs (both performed last year too) means they could’ve brought in other more recent bands for this like Stand Atlantic, Meet Me @ the Alter, Yours Truly, or Hot Milk all have at least 1 woman in the band, or at least for the bare minimum had brought Flyleaf(granted Lacey’s no longer in the band but they still tour with different female lead singer)..so it was possible for them to do
Alesana....oh my God
If you go,they put on a great show
Also, what’s genuinely funny about the “it’s sexist” post shown in this, they legit went outside the genre to find a band with a woman in it.
I agree! My entire main channel is cashing in on millennial nostalgia
Pink and green stage are next to each other and are for the headliners. It’s a really good way of bringing in the next act without having to take a break for setups
Great points as always Finn! Love your take on this.
Saves the Day not playing Through Being Cool is an absolute travesty
I'm going almost solely for MCR
2023 was absolutely incredible
I’m going to this festival with my dad and stepmom! I’m 13 and this will be my first festival! Wish me luck guys!
It's way worth it .. just seeing fall out boy is half the price of the whole ticket to this
You had me at Amberlin, never take friendship personal.
Yeah that’s true
This is starting to become the general price index for festivals and it’s going up;(
Atreyu playing the curse without alex seems like a horrible idea
Just remember all the millennials who can’t pay off their student loans dropping $1200 to attend this festival
Lol yeah exactly
Lol my god, I remember paying $150 at the gate for bonnarroo 2005(and that was 4 nights and 3 days of music). $1000+ is ridiculous for any festival
One of the most interesting things about the bands this year is the apparent Chiodos reunion. They haven't toured in about 10 years.
I saw UnderOath perform in Oshkosh, WI at a festival. It was a rock festival, and the weather was bad. There was literally no one in the whole vip area. Spencer spent the whole shortened set because of the weather, complaining about the vip area.
Pretty clean Micro Machines guy impression listing off the names. Didn't stumble at all.
This sort of reminds me of the last WrestleMania that was only one day. It was like 8 hours long and even that turned the show into a bit of a sit. This should really be at least 2 days
because high school was our last good moment before the multiple crises we've had to endure since adulthood.
We going to talk about Chiodos getting back together?! That is the only thing that I really got out of this announcement.
I agree with you on the VIP stuff. I have never done VIP for any festival or show. The fun is to be in the large mix of the crowd. The energy level is better and it just seems like a waste of money unless you are looking to drink and add pics to your IG.
The ageaverage at Sweden Rock (kind of the swedish wacken) is like 52 or something. They will keep going. They will se it as a tradition!
I fucking llve this flyer design 😂
I think one of the biggest things everyone is missing is preparing for the lack of nurses missing that weekend who will be attending.
Too much info on one flyer. The distillers doing a full album is cool but they only really had 3 of them. It’s a 1/3 of all their songs.
It's seems that this was the last group of real bands with amazing music. I don't know if any new bands can reach this level that they did so it's interesting well see.
Ah, good ol' high school. All they have to do is throw in a free varsity jacket with the purchase of a ticket and I'm in!
The people commenting where are the women and POCs in the emo scene must be trolls, right?
People saying the flyer looks like shit don't remember how garbage the last two were. At least this is mildly interesting garbage.
For what it's worth, I'm almost 31 and would love to see Kenny Hoopla live lol but as well as many of the others as well
People react that way because the line-up is literally unbelievable. So people didn't believe it. Get a grip Finn
$325 ticket, $200 flight round-trip (2 shitty red eyes, in & out I'm close), $125 for food & drinks (sneak in liquor as always) & I'm in for $625 👍
What about lodging?
Finn you said the same thing about sick new world. You should collab with one of these festivals for some content
I tried! They denied me for press credentials.
The pits were wild at every set 🤙
chiodos is back again? thank god
LIKE WE NEVER KNEW EACHOTHER AT ALLLL (out of tune)
having Nada Surf at When We Were Young...would be like having Paramore at Pitchfork...it kinda works I guess lol culture clash haha
I’m almost 48 and I LOVE 100 Gecs, seen them twice and both times was an amazing show.
But once you hit $500 for a ticket to one show, you're either filthy rich and/or not willing to let your childhood go.
spending $500 is not "filthy rich" lmao
