Just an FYI, the l6 verado power steering pump has its own set of battery cables. So if you just hooked the engine up with jumper cables the PS pump won’t turn on. Could be that simple.
Hi mate, as a flat battery chargers the fluid will increase. If bone dry, fill until just covering the plates. After they accept charge you can then finalise if more fluid is needed. This will prevent acid spilling outside the battery while charging. Also overfilling can make it difficult for the battery to charge properly. P.S if they are 12 years old, you are better off replacing anyway for reliability
Excited to see what the power steering issue is. I was chasing an issue early last year. So many damn suggestions by friends, online pros. It ended up being a 24 dollar fuse block for the battery.
i keep a condiment squeeze bottle with distilled water in my truck to fill up batteries. its nice to stick the nozzle in the hole and squeeze in the right amount
I'm in the market for a boat like this. Really want to sort out which boats need fuel tank replaced. A lot of boats I'm browsing have been repowered already. Going to watch more of your videos.
Try the Harbor Freight battery charger, Viking Auto Microprocessor Controlled Battery Charger, used it for years in my small engine shop. The recondition Mode brings back batteries that you'd think was a lost cause. The High Freq Charging is the key.
Funny I was thinking shouldn't he be using distilled water in those batteries then I heard somebody in the background say did that come right out of spigot 😂
Another question, does the Verado require that steering pump or can you attach a standard hydraulic steering to it? Learning... Been a 2 stroke mechanic then retired early 2006 so now have to learn these monsters lol. Appreciate any info you have. Thanks
Yes, they require that steering pump, I have never, I should, but I have never tried to just hook up a regular steering system to the steering cylinder on the engine without a pump in line, idk how it would perform, but basically yes, they need that pump or it is supposed to be there :) and no worries, we all don't know until we know :)
I had Diamond pattern allover my SeaVee.. its honestly no good.. more thread there is, then more thread to go bad... and even the highest quality thread is typically the first thing to go on upholstery
@MrEspinosa02 I was the service manager for the largest independent Whaler dealer in the world before they were bought by MarineMax. I had more I6 Verados blow up new out of the box than any motor I ever dealt with before, including Evinrude Ficht and Etecs. When the Verados ran, they ran great, but they were still put together by humans. Now, the 600 V12 Mercs are problem child of Merc.
Was wondering when you run it on the hose do you just supply water to the wash port or do you have water to the lower unit water intake holes? Or are they taped off?
What spray did you use in the cylinders to lube them up. I have a Yamaha f150 that I'm about to start up for the first time in 13 months and thinking of doing the same.
Lol no worries, you don't have to become a boat tech :) no consultations right now lol that's kind of why we did the program though because I can't keep up with the comments and emails to do consultations. But some people will sign up and we do weekly lives and there's messages and what not so we can bounce questions and answers off each other and that's the best way I've found to be able to help people to fix their own boats :)
hiya!, what would it cost me to get that terrible looking top section as well as the small one you took off of it? I need the cheapest, ugliest one I can find lol. I have a 2010 Verado 300 I picked up for my boat but the cowl is wrong. I have the middle section but a 200 top that does not fit. Let me know please, I have a lot of stuff to trade at times as well. Thanks
I thought you’d at least do a spark and compression test before you fired that engine. Just because it’s running, maybe wasting time on painting lipstick on a pig.

U must not follow this guy. he always explains his plan and gives as much detail through each step along the way. His goal is oriented towards people that don’t have the amount of knowledge/experience he has. He’s definitely not just trying to extend his videos. Ur what’s wrong with the internet btw

Was thinking it wasn’t hooked up when I didn’t see the starter fuse on the battery terminal

Great job cant wait to see it finished.

It was lol the way it was hooked up to that breaker and the battery switch lol :)

Every guy loves sticking their nozzle in the hole and squeezing in just that right amount every now and then 😅
You can make anything run!!

Is it worth rebuilding a 2012 Yamaha F150 (very low hours) that’s been submerged twice? This hurricane season has been rough. 😅
Call the Marine connection in Ft Pierce, they might have the switch panel laying around.

Awesome, thank you! Harbor Freight stuff is totally underrated for some stuff :)

Those l6 verado are the best engines ever made❤
Except when they blew up.
@michaelreynolds1904 If you do regular service and maintenance and use non ethanol fuel, they last more than 3000 hours with no problems.

Gas engines need cylinder honing after 12 year unless its a 2 stroke. Diesel and 2 stroke have oil that prevent corrosion

As long as you are just idling it and you don't run it for a long time, just a minute or so, then we just hook up to the flush port and run it :)

Just fogging oil, you can use anything really, just some kind of lubricant, PB Blaster if that's all you got lol :)
So, I trust your still making your replacement parts list since you just now took off the cowling 😂😂
Yeah, miscellaneous items get added to the list over the next couple days
What BABs does in 5-hours is a 17-hour job for me. Because, I am an amateur. Yikes! That skiff on the top rack looks like it wants to jump.
I don't want to become a boat "tech" I just want to fix my boat lol do you offer a consultation service?

Depends on where you live but the marina would get rid of those for cheap for sure
Do you use distilled water
Depends lol usually just purified water from the water fountain :/ you're supposed to use distilled though lol
What you end up doing with the cracked engine bracket?
We just replaced it lol :)
Get man you going to evacuate for that big hurricane coming y'all's way
We won't be, we live on the East Coast thankfully, it's going to be really bad on the West Coast
Where are you located?
Depends between Marathon and Sebastian

I would be about 7k on the upholstery off the top of my head.
$2800! :) Got a really good upholstery guy :)
@BornAgainBoating that's friends and family price I guess...
This did not sit for 12 years
Diamond is so old man
Being deaf I can't watch this video without closed caption sorry
They should be on, RUclips does it automatically :/ sorry

Way too much talk. Padding out videos is a strategy for making more vids with less actual content but not for me.
Lol

You need some subway surfers too?

I would say yes, depending on what it will cost to rebuild it
