  • There are two main reasons why you should avoid trying to have a hysterectomy for fibroids. Number one is fibroids are a completely benign condition, so there's no need to take out the entire organ for a completely benign condition. The hysterectomy is a major abdominal type of surgery with at least a six-week recovery period, and the complication profile is way, way higher than other non-invasive, or least invasive treatment options.
The number two reason why we should avoid a hysterectomy is to avoid a condition called a post-hysterectomy syndrome. This is something that a lot of folks don't know too much about, but it's a number of different symptoms that women will suffer after having a hysterectomy, such as sexual dysfunction, dysphoria, depression, and anxiety disorders. There are two main reasons that women should try to avoid having a hysterectomy. I always tell patients that if the uterus was meant to be removed and at some point, you just naturally deliver the uterus like the way you deliver a baby, but that doesn't happen in nature. And so, taking out the uterus could be a big ordeal for a woman to have to deal with.

Having a hysterectomy was the best decision I've made. My quality of life improved, no more pain, I'm happier and I feel great! No regrets here!

My fibroids are making my womb the size of a 14 week pregnancy. I also have polyps. I’m aneamic with heavy flooding and have no quality of life. I can’t fly without oxygen tanks. I am looking forward to having a partial hysterectomy. I doubt I will be unhappy when I have removed this. I will stop being Aneamic and in constant pain.

You can tell this guy has never had to take off work and go to ER for excessive fibroid bleeding.

I was scheduled for a complete hysterectomy over 20 years ago and did quite a bit of research. What I learned was eye opening. I was told because I once had some dysplastic cells near cervix that everything had to come out. Today I am 65 and still have all of my organs. There's too much fear play going on with regards to surgeries. Anther pet peeve is the needle biopsies for DC and I have watched the torment of countless lady friends who came through that insanity as well. Great doctors like yourself are tough to come by and I'm thankful you are helping to educate more people. ❤

I cancelled my full hysterectomy last year. Couldn’t be happier. No surgery, still have my productive system and no meds. I shrunk u 11cm fibroid naturally. Ladies, please do your research.
