    I know a lot of people following you know all this stuff it’s something we do Day in day out, but for people who are looking for this kind of tutorial, your way of explaining things makes it simple to follow. and I still watch all your videos just incase you point out something I don’t know or have forgotten about, which you have done in past videos. Keep up the great work.

    These type of videos on subjects that seem not sufisticated, are important to us garage shop wood workers. We are sometimes left behind by some with large shops with planers and joiners etc. Keep up the good work and help us little guys without all the fancy tools.

    Thanks for confirming what i had in my head, I actually increased the size of the countersink for the 4mm screws I had , I had bought a box for a job ages ago and couldn't face having yet another box of screws where I wouldn't need them again. The small sizes are required so infrequently.

    Searching for a video on this and Incredibly thankful for all of your tips.
    I was doing the very thing you showed in your video with the same size wood. And I also have a ironing board closet from 1900. That I am turning into a spice rack but was moving the hinges as the bottom half of the door falls down onto the floor. Now I know how to do that as well.
    Thank you very much and yes, I find you to be very calming. You are a fabulous teacher

    You probably have no idea how much this video is about to make my life more straight forward, I am building a cantilever sewing box and about to fix the top lids. I hate hinges with a passion as never seem to get them right. This has shone a huge amount of light on what for me is a dark art. Ordering flush fit hinges is next job. Many Thanks.

    Glad I watched this. I installed these very hinges in the past and came up against the very same issues with the too large a head screws. I got pushback. I got around it with a magnetic push pop catch but like anything.. the correct tools for the correct job makes for a beautiful finish 👌

    I only read the first few comments but I agree with all they said. One thing tho, bothered me that you rushed thru the inset doors because that was exactly what I needed to see but it was too fast for me. However, watched it again and just slowed speed down and it was all good and made sense. Thanks for the video and tips that I should have seen years ago; it would have saved me LOTS time and trouble! And I appreciated your comments about buying flush hinges, which is exactly what I need and did not realize until I saw this video. I guess they are also called non-mortise hinges. I'm not experienced at all with this stuff so this helps a lot!

    I have fitted many various types of hinge over the years and it is always best to have a dry run prior to fitting. Also, best to make sure the screw goes in straight at 90 degrees to the hinge or it will affect closing.

    Great job Peter. I'm amazed by the number of templates and jigs that woodworking supply companies sell for cabinet doors, hinges, slides, shelf pins. pulls and knobs. Some could be quite handy and many look easy to make. BTW, those demo cabinets would be perfect for storing keys.

    • @10MinuteWorkshop
      @10MinuteWorkshop  5 лет назад

      Thanks Mark! Yes, I know what you mean about the range of jigs available - some of which are very useful, but many are priced so that you really need to be doing a lot of the same thing to justify them. And great idea to turn these into key cabinets - hadn't thought of that, thanks! 👍👍

    Heres me, after a long year of doing DIY on my house learning almost constantly from RUclips, thinking my luck will finally be up. I'm installing alcove cabinets with inset doors. Completely overlooked how complicated the job of fitting the hinges might be. I thought theres no way I'm going to easily find the information I'm looking for and after making the doors myself, I am a bit worried about the hard work that's gone into the cabinets and doors being ruined by a sloppy job fitting. This video has provided me with absolutely all the information I was hoping for. Thank you so much for taking your time to make it Peter. You've earned a subscriber.

    You are right about getting decent countersinking on flush hinges. I have tried a couple and they are all woeful even with 3mm screw heads. Have taken to grinding them out slightly using an old countersink drill - it's agricultural but works.
