I checked the Fuse Screws as recommended. They were not loose but did tighten a small amount. All 4 screws had a perceptable snap as they tightened like a loose screw that welded itself might have. It immediately corrected my No Crank - No Start issue. My Starter also appears to be working stronger than it has in a long time. It was intermittent but frequent. Since I did this it has not reoccurred.
Thank-you. .... I am not sure how long a Mechanic would have had to search to solve this!

Thank you for this excellent, informative video. I have an intermittent problem which my mechanic is unable to diagnose, so I'm working my way through your tips with fingers crossed.

Spot on with my CRV. It was the starter relay. It was like a slow starter death. I was so pissed at one point, I rocked back and forth in my car and the car would start... I couldn't grasp what the problem was.
After seeing your video, I tap lightly on the relay and the car started right up.
I couldn't believe it! So thank you very much for posting this video!

Good point about micro switch on Drive lever. Many motorcycles have a micro switch on the kickstand. Anyway, I wiggled the relay and pushed it a bit too hard. It cracked on top but from then my car started fine.
I can’t say in words how much I am thankfully for saving me + my wife hundreds of dollars. Our Senior fixed income was not prepared for an added expense. When I wiggled that tiny brown relay and after turning the key and the motor started such a load (as I am sure you know) was lifted.

Had the relay die again but this time wiggles didn't work on the relay like before. How can you push the clips back when pulling out the relay??

Great job. Comprhensive overview of the possibilities and process. My CRV won't start. I've done the relay checks and the battery connection prep. Looks like the are plenty of other things to do now. I might just take it to the Honda Dealer. I'm broke, but better to be broker and have a running car, then to be broke without a running car. Good job Lehew. Thank you. GT

Would not recommend taking it to a dealer, they will always rip u off. Find a good local mechanic shop instead!

Thank you for this video. My CRV had this issue today. I’m going to trouble shoot using your video as a guide and see if it works for me. The odd thing is a few times while attempting to start my car I have to turn the steering wheel while turning on the vehicle and somehow that would work…today nothing works and I get a click sound but not ignition…

Great video. Your the only person I’ve heard mention changing the starter from below. I have a friend that is a mechanic at the Honda dealer. He says he does it from below and is in and out in an hour and half. He’s worked there for eight years so I’m sure he’s had some practice. Thanks again for the great video,

My 06 CRV would intermittently not start. I put a new battery. Still intermittent starts. New starter, but the harness when I moved the intake manifold back down popped the starter connector off and would not start. I put that connector back on and started for half the day, until it left me stranded. I decided to put it in neutral and it started. Basically sometimes it starts in park, sometimes neutral only. Possibly need to look at the saftey neutral switch when I have time but for now at least it's letting me start the car in either park or neutral. (whichever works when it wants lol)

    Hi Lehew
So in checking the ignition switch... Can you start by looking at white/red wire and with an Ohm meter go to the black wire? If U turn the switch to start, with the battery disconnected shouldnt the Ohm meter drop to a few ohms? Since when U turn it ti start I thought U said the ignition switch connects those 2 pts... If not what voltage should U trad w/o the key in the ignition? Thxs I enjoyed your video

Did you find out what the problem is? My 2004 Honda CR-V has been acting weird for the last month or so. Sometimes hard starting sometimes nothing there when I turn the key and now it does not start at all. Not sure if it's the starter or what.

    • @TheKyleman999

@@The7thSunSon have you tried tapping the starter when trying to start it? If it starts up after tapping the starter with a hammer it’s a starter issue

On the back of small square panel it has info for everything on my 2004 Honda CR-V. To the far left is 15A, 10, 10,10. Below the 15A is IG COIL (Relay). I assume this is the relay for the starter. There are two clips holding the relay. How can I pull that relay out? The clips don't stay back when I try pulling the relay. Any tricks?

Very informative. My daughter's 2005 CR-V, 180,000 miles. Lately, it started but with a very slow crank. I charged the 2.5 year old battery, didn't work. I even tried to jump start, still nothing. When I turn the key, all dashboard light work as normal, sometimes I get a half a crank, most of the time nothing. I put in new plugs, cleaned terminals, still the same, it tries to crank, and then nothing. I'm ordering a new ignition switch( under the steering column), and ignition relay, (interior fuse box). I broke the relay while removing. and can't find the part. what amperage is the ignition relay. I see a lot of A/C relays. are they interchangeable?

My 2004 Honda Crv made a “security sound” and then it would start. It hasn’t started in a couple of days and I have heard that sound while I’ve been sitting in it trying to get it to start. How would I check the fuses you pointed to under the hood and what else might it be?

Can anyone please help me determine if the starter cut relay (that you can't see in the video) is inserted to the farthest left of the two 30A relays that are side-by-side, or should it be inserted on the right slot of those two relays? I had intermittent crank no-start issues for about two weeks, which turned into a no-crank issue, with a good battery, new starter, and most recently, a new starter cut relay (installed to the left of the two side-by-side relays). Any advice in general about this problem would really be appreciated. Thank you!!

This helps me, but my crv sat for a while and now it tries to start as soon as it sees power from the battery. I’m wondering how I can test my ignition switch and starter solenoid in my particular circumstance. Saw something about my starter solenoid possibly being stuck in its on position? Just baffled how it would be able to bypass my clutch switch.

    • @lj205

My research shows this condition is very possible when the starter relay fails in the start position. Replacing the relay that is located in the video in many should correct this.

@@christian_1751 No, it really isn’t. If you know what you’re doing, going from the bottom is definitely the best way to go. I’ve had to do it twice now, both times from the bottom, and there’s not much to it once you get the hang of it. It did suck pretty bad the first time, and it took me a long tine to figure out the right way to go about it, but by the time I was finished I felt like an expert, and the second time it was quick and easy.
