Great tips Kristen! When I looked at my apartment, I came to realize that I subconsciously applied the 80/20 rule. My aesthetic is a combination of Mid-Century modern, Danish Pastel and a splash of 70s in a funky and cozy way.

Great video. Would love to see more on how you combine traditional and modern styles. I loves the colors, style and architecture of traditional or Victorian design but some modern design clean lines. My husband only loves traditional with the traditional furniture we already have. So 80/20 rule sounds good. 👍

Great tips - I think the 80/20 was the most helpful… I am combining styles have an antique mid century modern Danish sectional that I am re-upholstering in eggplant faux /ultra suede and I have a little BoHo style as well especially from my collectibles that I brought back after I lived overseas in India. Hola, Thank you for your lessons. Love the tip 80/20. I like Old gentleman meets 007 james Bond and Indiana Jones... I have plenty of original museum quality collections of old pottery, silver, bronze, wood carvings, porcelain, crystals, swords, books and yet I want a post pandemic look... For whatever that is.

I’ve never heard of The 80/20 rule! I’d 💕love 💕 a video just on how to utilize that strategy!!!
I’ve noticed of late that I love traditional upholstered pieces - but prefer them juxtaposed with modern tables. I like either very traditional, antique OR sparklingly clear chrome accented contemporary lighting - especially the hanging variety. I love antique wood pieces - but only as stand-alones. Unfortunately I’m not all that fond of modern art or sculpture - so what’s a girl to do? 🥺

I am loving your channel and it's helping me a lot! I am currently modernizing my home by painting oak trim white. I am almost done with the main floor of my home! Challenges I am running into. 1) I appreciate that the homeowner we purchased the house from realized warm tones were out of date and therefore she started incorporating cool tones, however, we have quite the mix of warm and cool tones. It drives me nuts because I am so matchy matchy (yes...we bought the matching bed set lol). 2) I personally like a cozy, warm home, some dark decor elements, scandinavian style as well as industrial....but how do I make that all tie in together?

Some mid century modern and modern. What to do?
Definitely trying to avoid large scale items that very heavily lean one style is important. I feel like I enjoy a mix of modern, mid century modern, vintage and a hint of boho. I’ve been looking to get a credenza/side board type piece for extra storage in my apartment and love mid century style ones buts I feel it’s too mid century to look cohesive so I’m thinking of doing a custom ikea kallax unit with doors in a light neutral color to keep it modern but maybe more mid century style feet and an interesting knob/pull for the doors
cant wait to use all these amazing tips when i get my own home that kristen always puts out☺ all these ideas she has im already picturing how my home going to be like in the near future 😌

Hi Kristen. I have recently started watching your videos and love them so much. I am moving into my own home in a couple of months and need some advice. I have a big dark brown leather recliner 5 seater sofa and need ideas styling it. The room is all white with white coffee table and white TV unit. Unfortunately at this time I am not in a position to buy new furniture so will have to make do with what I have currently. I will be buying a new dining table, so what you recommend getting that will match the living room style.
Awesome tips Kristen. I am still using antiques with a few pieces of modern. Some of the antiques I don’t like as they are too dark. I’m going to paint them and distress just a little. I love this look and so does my hubby.

I’d love to see your ideas for smaller home. In the UK the average room sizes are a lot smaller than in the USA which makes things trickier.

I'm decorating a new home and the majority of my base furniture is neutral scandi but the home has some farmhouse elements in the kitchen and baths as part of the home and my neutral wall art is mainly mid-century boho-ish.
