What was the reason for using blender, is that to get the correct file format for UE5, One would think that this step is not necessary just for file formatting as EPIC is the creator of EU as well

Looks like photogrammetry is producing better results than lidar scans on iphone. I'm curious, do you use lidar on iPhone at all? Cause i couldn't get good results so far. Thanks for sharing your process!
12 mini dont have lidar bro so no i havent used lidar
Lidar is still nice for shiny objects, photogrammetry isn't going to work with a clean car for example. But yeah, generally a phone camera is better than iPhone lidar.

hello i bought the unreal live link for iclone 8 my goal is to let 2 characther dance at the same time in unreal 5 with the live link ? is it possible ? because when i try to import my 2nd charachter into unreal my first character stops moving
Amazing Tutorial as always. Please I hope my question is dumb. Why did you export as obj from reality capture. Isn't there a direct fbx export from reality capture. I haven't used the software before though
direct fbx import doesnt work for me

Thanks for the video. When I import my object to unreal and build with nanite, triangles not getting bigger as I go far. The triangle size always the same. Any ideas?

Very well explained tutorial .. Have you tried photo scanning cloth/jacket/coat and maybe bring it to ue5, apply on metahuman, I think it will be a good experiment and great tutorial :)
no i havent i u prolly need an actual scanner for that. i think reallusion sells some and they look good

Meshroom is free. I just used the app polycam and was impressed (I’m on an older iPhone-I think it works on iPhone or android). The free version doesn’t let you export obj or fbx but I think the pro (where you can export to many formats) is something like $30 a year. I was really surprised how good the details were. Going to try importing my scans into blender and unreal.
my Polycam exports looks fine on the phone, although after exporting to FBX or OBJ they've looked like crap. Meshes had holes in them, too many polygons and needed a LOT of extra work to make those assets usable in Unreal. I get Nanite but still there way too many polygons and in general meshes are messy. It probably takes less effort to model the asset (depending on the model type, of course) and by modeling you'll get well optimized asset. Hopefully this technology will finally get there but still is pretty raw, imo.

Do you need to have something enabled / disabled on the phone? whenever I used the phone, the pointcloud is completely rotated, almost upside down, but with a dslr is leveled like you would expect it to be.

@@Jsfilmz Don't mean their app. You took lots of pictures with your phone and when you finished aligning the photos, it came out pretty levelled. When I have done the same, its never level, or even close to it. its mostly off with rotated almost upside down. Do you need to enable anything on the phones camera? give is any permissions?

Lots. but the real question is will unreal really make movies better if the writing are crappy? Remakes and sequels man. But with Unreal you will have random joe schmoes making amazing movies one day since its free and with mocap gettting cheaper by the minute oof. future looks good
@@Jsfilmz , I believe its fine to use Unreal Engine 5 as a tool but not a dependency in film making. The art in creative cinematography, practical FXs and story writing will always be more interesting and memorable to me.

another reality capture ad, there's reasonably priced photogrammetry software like metashape, you don't need to pay that much for photogrammetry. Reality capture is just overpriced.
