She was 29 in Korean age when she filmed this (and was 27 Internationally). She is now 30/28, but will be turning 29 internationally on Monday. She has been in the business for quite a while as she made her debut in 2008 (after getting rejected by a bunch of companies). Hence her being Korea's little sister. Nowadays she is one of the most popular celebs in Korea and yes, her voice is just absolutely beautiful.
23, Palette, and Eight are all songs in a series that gives you a glimpse into her mind at 23, 25, and 28. Good on spotting that. Yes, G-Dragon is from Big Bang. She has done plenty of features and collabs. She was on AKMU's Nakka and of course, she has done an Epik High collab with the song "Love Story" (she might have also done other work with them...). I think at this point I'm legally obligated to mention Epik High whenever they are relevant to a group/artist.
Another series starts with "You and I".
I was wondering how many times you would say one of the songs was your favorite. Bbbibbi, Blueming, and Coin are probably my favorites of the three featured here. If you didn't check this out first, I probably would have suggested Bbbibbi or Blueming as good starts. But any IU MV is a good MV to check out.
She has been referred to as Korea's best rapper by various rappers in Korea. It is mostly a meme since she is so respected and gives them an out on having to name other rappers that might start issues because one is mentioned but not another. Her rap style is pretty cool.
I could go into a bit of detail about the emphasis on ID when she says Stupid in Bbibbi and why blue in Blueming (or at least what I think they mean), but I don't want to spoil things in case you check out the full songs.
No Bibi and IU collabs yet, but it would make my year.
It is nice how she ends it on the one song you have heard of hers in "Hold My Hand". And yes, Galaxy Embracing The Unverse performed this. You should also check out the live version she did in her "Love, Poem" concert (which was the clip they showed of her in Queendom for this song). While they did an amazing job, but it is hard to top IU.
She is referred to as Korea's 'hiphop one-top' not the top rapper.

She is referred as a top hip-hop artist also because of her lyricism she has done throughout her career. A lot of her songs have rhyming lyrics at the end of each sentences. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
That's interesting how IU can be probably "one of" if not "most" respected idol nowadays(I mean by other idols and Korean) but at the same time being "not-so-popular" or even "unknown" outside of Korea. I'm pretty sure every third female kpop idol will name IU as role model. But as people already said in comments, she is just legendary

Her 2019 love poem world tour tickets were sold out almost instantly and she even added extra shows in Singapore to accommodate the fans. Her buzz might not be as big as other popular groups, but her fans are definitely there outside of Korea. cmiiw
IU is possibly the only IDOL that all fanbases love, she has the most beautiful voice and she is so pretty and delicate
IU is known for her encores and extending the length of her concert for her fans. I could be wrong, but I think 5 hours is her longest one.

The concert goes for 2-3 hours, in the beginning the encore just 30min - 1 hour and only few fans know about the encore, but now her encores goes for 2 hours bcause all of her fans already know about the encore, cmiiw

IU is one of a kind. She is a national treasure in Korea, as she should be. Doesn't matter if it's on stage or film her talent is undeniable. In my opinion, she is the best entertainer in Korea.

IU is a legendary singer and songwriter but she's also a great actress. Next week she'll be at the Cannes Festival with the movie "Broker" in competion. Also the last song "Hold my hand" was her first composed song and last year after 10 yr it went viral and recharted in Korea for a concert clip that you should check. Also thanks for your reaction

IU's theme on her songs are all about numbers either age, her birth month, her birthday and her friends. Its really cool how numbers are always mentioned on her song or the theme of her song. It is somewhat sad and emotional since again it keeps her reminded and keeps her reminisce the old times. Especially her song "8" produced by Suga which is a song for her departed friends who committed suicide. 8 is her special number and 8 in sideways is infinity and shes just a great story teller. It hurts but it heals, also her song "My Sea" which is just brilliant, song lasts for 5:16 which is her birthday and that story itself is talking about herself. Isnt it mind blowing how this beautiful, kind, famous tiny little girl is just an overall genius in Music. IU will forever my No. 1 solo singer

IU is a queen of playing with words and metaphors, this is one of the reason she is one of the best song writers, composer, and producer. IU is the best female soloist in SK and one of the most loved and respected artist and a fabulous actress.
Hold My Hands (the encore song) is actually her song and I feel like every time she sings it, it sounds even better, lol. So I guess its a given that hers sounds better than any covers.

Korean ages can be confusing. IU's first song was when she was 20 Korean age, which would be 18-19 international age. IU just turned 30 (28 international age).

hahaha! Don't feel bad if you think that IU's version of Hold my hands is much better cause she's the original and it's a fact. She wrote it probably at the age of 15 or 16 but it was officially the first self written song she release at the age of 17 as an OST of a famous kdrama the greatest love. A lot of people must have said a lot of things about IU but let me tell you one thing her studio version is great but her live is way better. IU participated in the song Eight with the melody, lyrics and co-compose the song. I will be blatant to say this BTS might be well know globally but in Korea even BTS can't beat her in the number 1 spot. She is 3rd in the ranking globally in kpop despite not promoting abroad. Don't blame her company it's her personal choice cause her schedule is already crazy and she probably achieved what she want as an artist in all aspect. I'm not bragging but she is excellent in anything she does. Like she is the best as a Singer, Composer, Lyricist, Producer, Actor, Commercial Model and even as a tax payer. As you get to know her you will know that we are not exaggerating but its a fact she even received awards backing this as proof. I know what you feel when you hear her sing it's like IU is singing into your ears. Welcome to Uaena land i hope you check her stuff more you wont regret it.

IU is very talented one of my favorite songs is 8 it breaks my heart every time. It is believed to be a song for her friends who unfortunately decided to leave us early. Her opening line is “Are you happy now?” You should really watch it. It is a truly beautiful song.

IU is a musician, not just an idol/actress. Most people underestimate her because of how adorable she is. But she wrote most of these songs. She did a special on Sketchbook last year, where she played at least two songs solo while playing guitar (very well). If you see her with a band, you can tell she is one of them. Very similar to Taeyeon.
And you are correct to identify the age milestone theme to her songs. She clearly wants those songs to mark how she grows through the years, and that's just another amazing thing about her.

If you ever want to see her act, watch My Mister on Netflix. She will absolutely slay you with the character she portrays. It's an excellent drama. She plays a young woman who is going thru unbelievable hardships and she will rip your heart out.

I discovered IU as an actress. She is always so, soooo beautiful, even when it's not the point of her role. I really like her as an actress (I recommend My Mister). As a singer her voice is not quite my type (it's the same for a lot of female vocalists, so nothing's surprising), it's very high. But she uses it very nicely, and I like some of her songs. I agree with you that she brings a warm feeling.
Note: I think "Forever Young" is about her celebrity (best ?) friends who died (killed themselves ?) but as I'm not a fan, I might be wrong.

The meanings of the lyrics and mvs of 23, bbibbi, u and i and lilac are very interesting. Other songs I think you might like are glasses, jam jam and depression clock (Ft. DG felt in love but who won't... the first song I listened from IU was "My old story" and I felt already completely in love with her voice but then I listened to "Meaning of you" (actually my favorite song even though it's a cover, her voice and the meaning of the lyrics makes me mesmerized...), I learnt that song so I can now sing it but I have had listened to her but not seen her, then I watched her in a Korean variety show and I was like: "how could someone with that amazing and pretty voice also be that lovely and beautiful, it's just unfair". If you haven't already watched IU acting, look at My mister and at Hotel del Luna so you get the starter pack on falling in love with IU because I'm telling you, even if you don't think it is possible, you can still fall even deeper in love with IU...
