    Purging my books was such a great feeling. I had over 500; and when i moved i just packed them in boxes and didn't touch them for 3 years while my house was being remodeled. So now that the house is done, i had to go thru them all. now i only have 30 lol the rest i donated. Feels so good to only have what you love!

    I love reading fiction in an e-book style but if it’s something I need to pay more attention to, such as a textbook or cookbook, then I prefer the physical book. I minimized my physical books down to my very favorite and some professional textbooks. I’d say maybe a dozen, give or take. My all time favorite book would have to be an inspirational one, “The Collected Works of Francis Scovel Shin.” For some unknown reason it just speaks to me.

You've helped me refine my collection!

    I love books, but have only kept about 5 of my granddaughter's old books, and 5 of my all time favorites. One was a autographed signed book to me, (wow) a biography, by Michael Cain, " What's It All About". And a book I've had for many , many years, "The Long Love", by John Sedges. I read it at least once a year. Found out it was written by a woman who wrote "The Good Earth", which was made into a movie!! The other 3 are biographies too.

    So I was a foreign language teacher in a former life (I taught Japanese, go figure) and I have tons and tons of books in Japanese that I can’t bear to part with. I don’t re-read them often, but I always think: maybe I should hang on to these in case I teach a class again. I can’t buy any of them here in the US without making a special order or paying something exorbitant, so I had them shipped when I moved back to the US from Japan. When I was teaching, I’d flip through them to get ideas for using authentic texts for lessons... I don’t do that much now but again, can’t really get over them.

    Hi Kay - first time commenter but I watch your videos often. Please read Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls if you want to pick up a novel. Read the synopsis first to see if you’re interested. Other than that, thank you for inspiring me to purge some books. I’m fairly sentimental and have kept all the books I read in college to, I guess, to symbolize the knowledge I’ve gained. But now reconsidering this. Looking forward to your next video!

    Don't really have a favorite book but do have books that I love. Three books that I love and think everyone should read at least once in their life are Anne Frank's diary (read it for the first time at age ten and have read it multiple times in the 30+ years since) and West with the Night by Beryl Markham which I've also read multiple times over the years and To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. I also love and have read multiple times The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams and The Hobbit by J.R.R Tokein. It's very rare that I find a book that I go back to and read again. I'm currently loving Jonathan Kellerman's Alex Delaware series which are psychological thrillers. The author and his character Alex Delaware are psychologists.The character of Alex Delaware is best friends with LAPD homicide detective by the name of Milo Sturgis which is how he ends up being drawn in to murder cases.

What if all the book stores in the world go away and we can’t buy books but have to read them on devices?!?!? I have approx 25 books. I have 2 that I will keep a dictionary and a reference on first aid for dogs and cats. When I don't have anymore pets that will be donated. My books are mostly novels. I have a couple that the author personalized and signed them but not sure if I will keep them or not. Jodi Picoult is a good author I've read most of her books and never been disappointed. Dorothy Benton Frank is also good. I also like Nora Roberts especially the triology that she sets in Ireland. I actually don't have a favorite book. You might already know about goodreads.com you could get recommendations from there.

    I love to read but I guess I’m just not a book collector. I will read them and pass them on, donate or typically I just use the library where they keep them for me!! I’ve never felt the need to hang onto a book because I loved it or had sentimental value to me. When I first read the Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up, I thought it was funny that books was an entire category to declutter. I didn’t know so many people had so many books!!

    Books are such a hard thing for me. I struggle with getting rid of them. I used to be a teacher and now I homeschool. We have an excessive amount of children’s books. I have 17 boxes currently to sell. But honestly the task seems daunting and there are days that I’d just like to donate them. However at this point in our life we really could use the extra money. How do you have your clients deal with things like this? Even after the 17 boxes this still leaves us with 4 entire bookshelves worth of books. The only books that I have kept for myself are Christian books or Bible studies I have completed. My kids aren’t attached to the children’s library. My two oldest love to read but read only on their phones and don’t read actual books anymore. To me there is nothing like a real book.

    • @TheOrganizedSoprano
      @TheOrganizedSoprano  6 лет назад +4

      Books become a special issue with homeschooled children, I've found because school is home. Selling is difficult in 2018 with books, so I just usually recommend to donate unless the book is particularly valuable. If you'd like to give it a shot, I'd incorporate them into a yard sale in which you sell ALL KINDS of other things in addition. Books tend to be something people will add on to their purchase at a yard sale just because.
