In order to learn SQL or work on MySQL database projects, you must have MySQL database installed on your MAC computer. This video tutorial teaches you, how to download & install MySQL 8 on MacOS.
The MySQL database is free to use, and it comes with GPL license. You can download MySQL from following link,
www.mysql.com/
The installation steps given in this video will work on MacOS 11 Big Sur. As well as MacOS 10 OR codenamed versions like, Yosemite, El Capitan, Sierra, High Sierra, Mojave, OR Catalina etc.

One suggestion is to not let viewers to delete the whole bash_file. For example, my bash_file has other things configured so deletion may cause other problems

Yes! I completely agree with your suggestion not to delete bash profile file. In my case, it was empty and didn't contain any path/configuration so I deleted it. But for some user's it may contain imp configurations, and it's bad idea to delete it. Thanks for pointing it out.

My observation/advice which could help someone, initially I was having the error message 'command not found' because I was running the code by just simply clicking my 'enter' button. then I used 'cmd enter' and the codes run perfectly, so yeah, if you're having same issues as me, 'cmd enter' to the rescue.

Sorry for the late response. I've been little busy yesterday.
Did you try both methods? Creating bash profile file and adding MySQL path in paths file?
In both methods, make sure you write commands/paths exactly similar given in the tutorial. Also follow capitalization given in the commands/paths.
If still not working, let me know the operating system version you are using.

Hi Ella, you can connect to MySQL database server (using your root credentials) via command line (terminal) OR MySQL workbench. And use the MySQL database. You don't need to install anything. If you are working with some applications which require ODBC connector then you can install it separately. But as you said you are absolute beginner, so you might be learning SQL using MySQL database. So, command line (terminal) OR MySQL workbench is sufficient for you.
